Playing at Jagz of Ascot, Chicago Rock Cafe Windsor (as part of their Wicked on Wednesday season), Club Havana Windsor and The Academy Basingstoke as well as some smaller venues, Jack left a lasting impression and made many new fans clamouring for a return later in the year.

Jack at The Academy Basingstoke - February 2007

I have to tell you that, if you missed seeing Jack at one of his February '07 UK tour venues, then you missed something really special.

Boy, was he on top form. As the years go by, so Jack's energy and enthusiasm just goes on and on, engulfing the audience in such passion for the music of Elvis and Jack's endless talent.

I saw him at The Academy, Basingstoke on Saturday 3rd February along with a packed house. His show started at 9pm but there were still queues at 10pm for his second set as people had come from all over the area having heard him live on Kestrel FM earlier that day.

The audience were wowed! I am a great fan of Jack Smink but I cannot tire of seeing his unique tribute to the King. Given that his other venues were sell-out events his drawing power is enormous.

We were treated to his new song, recorded with The Jordinaires and the audience absolutely loved it. I heard one group arguing over whether or not it was Elvis or Jack singing on the record!

Sadly, his lovely wife Karen could not accompany him on this trip but we hope that Jack will soon come back to the UK and maybe bring her too.

Elvis supports local Breast Cancer unit!

A leading US performer, Jack Smink who takes his Elvis tribute show to major venues in the States, is breaking into his holiday in the UK this weekend to help The Academy Basingstoke raise money for the North Hampshire Hospital’s breast cancer unit.

General Manager of The Academy, John Hicks, explained: “Jack Smink is highly regarded in the US for his outstanding stage shows which delight Elvis fans and bringing Elvis to a new generation of music lovers. He is on holiday this week and kindly agreed to support our fundraising efforts to support the Basingstoke Breast Cancer Care Group in their amazing project to purchase new equipment at the Hospital.”

“I have seen Jack live on stage and he is brilliant. But, if further proof were needed, I have just received an e-mail from a former Basingstoke resident now living in the US.” John added. Former Abbey Road residents, Bev and Dave Moore, have been to see Jack at the Stage Door in Kissimmee and e-mailed to say that he is very talented, has a great sense of humour and well worth the admission price!

The Academy in Worting Road is Basingstoke’s only 24 hours, 7 days a week, Snooker, Pool and Nine Ball Hall and live music venue. The doors open at 7pm and goes on until 2am with live DJ entertainment from special guest DJ Danny D who set a new Guinness World Record for the longest live dee-jay performance last November at The Academy.

Hi fellow Jack Smink fans

I was at The Academy Basingstoke on Saturday for a Christmas Party. It was so funny to be on the dance floor with a 6 foot high Jack Smink looking down on me so I thought I would share the moment with you by posting this photo!

It's only 5 weeks to Jack's first UK venues for 2007 - the Hicks household cannot wait but the show is also one of the great topics of conversation in Basingstoke. This is a charity event for our local Breast Cancer unit (The Academy is trying to raise £6000 for a special chair to make breast cancer patients more comfortable when they are having scans) and so there is a lot of talk about this.

I hope to catch up with many of you there!

Questions to Jack Smink from his UK Fans

I have received some questions for Jack from his UK fans eagerly looking forward to his brief "Tribute to Elvis" tour here in February 2007 (see the billboard from The Academy in Basingstoke, pictured above).

Here are the questions and Jack's replies received today (8th December 2006):

1. Have you ever appeared in Las Vegas? If so, when and where? If not, have you any plans to do so?

Yes. It was about 4 or 5 years ago. I have no immediate plans to return.

2. Have you ever sung with The Jordanaires - if so, when?

Yes, I've performed with the Jordanaires on a few occasions. I just recorded a song that I wrote along with 2 guys from my band. The Jordanaires performed the background vocals on this song. It will be ready for public release within a couple of months. The title is Just One More Time and tells a story of Elvis praying that God allows him to return to say goodbye to his fans and friends.

Meet Jack Smink - a tribute to the Elvis, the King!

Some years ago, I received a telephone call from a guy called Ray Blandford who proceeded to tell me about someone called Jack Smink in the US who puts on an amazing live show as a tribute to Elvis.

At the time, I was a national marketing and promotions manager with Europe's largest late night venue operator so was well used to having people call me up enthusing about their latest band or performer. They were all convinced that they had found the next superstars!

But Ray was clearly passionate about this performer and that passion came through so strong that I began to wonder if he was right.

Unfortunately, it was some time before I was able to meet Jack in person - his UK visits are brief because of his heavy work committments in the US and my hectic business diary meant that we never met up.

Then, Jack put on a show at Jagz Club in Ascot and I was able to attend. I had the good fortune to meet Jack and his lovely wife Karen some days before the show. They are both such lovely people and I warmed to them immediately.

Finally, I was able to see Jack live on stage for myself. What an amazing performance! He captivated the audience and I can only sum it up in one word: awesome!

I keep in regular contact with Jack, Ray and others who count the days down to when Jack can fit in another UK visit. So, the purpose of this website is to enable other fans to share our passion for Jack's tribute to the greatest musical performer to ever enter our lives, Elvis.
