I think there was about 10 teenagers that first week.</div><div><br /></div><div>Throughout the years, these services have become increasingly difficult because the number of teenagers that we have attending has went through the roof.</div><div><br /></div><div>We are now only able to answer a fraction of the questions, and sorting through 300+ little pieces of paper is time consuming and difficult.</div><div><br /></div><div>In comes <a href="http://www.mobilemarketing.net/">Mobivity</a>.</div><div><br /></div><div>For less than a hundred bucks our teenagers can now text message their questions to us, during service. </div><div><br /></div><div>All of the messages are routed to an email address. The questions can then be copied and pasted into our presentation software and projected on the screens, plasma tv's on stage, and in our overflow room.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is the first week that we are offering text to screen Bring it On and I am very excited to see how it goes!</div><div><br /></div><div>How are you leveraging technology to get your message out? <br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-8898002466623146724?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-54169903857257723822009-05-14T12:28:00.001-05:002009-05-14T12:28:46.477-05:00Killing is Killing no matter what you call it!<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O68MByaMVdM&rel=0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O68MByaMVdM&rel=0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-5416990385725772382?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-48533353391869566312009-05-08T09:04:00.004-05:002009-05-08T09:26:23.394-05:00How to be a Truth Drenched Youth MinistryMy Prayer is that Youth Ministry around the Country would be shaped by a new set of behaviors.<div><br /></div><div>I pray that Dodgeball and summer camp will no longer define us.<br /><div><br /></div><div>I have tried my best to exemplify all of these behaviors that are written below. I thank God for His grace and His blessings that have been poured upon myself, my family, and Kingdom Youth Church.</div><div><br /></div><div>Currently, we are one of the largest youth ministries in the midwest but we are not event driven or entertainment driven. </div><div><br /></div><div>I preach for at least an hour each week. (I'm not good enough to keep it shorter)</div><div><br /></div><div>We have seen over 200 new teenage believers baptized in the past year and a half.</div><div><br /></div><div>I would attribute this moderate amount of success to staying drenched in Gods Truth.</div><div><br /><div>I have taken this straight from John Pipers, <a href="http://desiringgod.com/">Desiring God Blog</a>.</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" border-collapse: collapse; color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family:arial;font-size:13px;"><p>(Author: Abraham Piper)</p><p>The following is from my notes at Kempton Turner's session yesterday at the CDG conference.</p><h4>1. Be a truth-drenched example.</h4><p>1 Timothy 4:16</p><blockquote><p>Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.</p></blockquote><p>The example of your life is the hammer that drives your message home. If your life doesn't exemplify what you expect, your message will not be believable.</p><h4>2. Have a truth-drenched marriage and family life.</h4><p>1 Timothy 3:4-5</p><blockquote><p>He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?</p></blockquote><p>We shouldn't see if someone is fit for the ministry by how they do in seemingly less important ministries. Rather, we should see what kind of husband and father he is. If he leads his family well, then maybe he's fit for the ministry.</p><p>Paul assumes that a church leader first leads his family. A truth-drenched youth ministry will get the overflow of the youth minister's leadership of his wife and kids.</p><h4>3. Cultivate a truth-drenched staff.</h4><p>Acts 13:2-3</p><blockquote><p>While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.</p></blockquote><p>Gather as a staff mainly to go vertical. Meet with God and see what strategy comes from this worship.</p><h4>4. Preach and teach truth-drenched messages and lessons.</h4><p>Hebrews 13:7</p><blockquote><p>Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.</p></blockquote><p>The main thing your youth should think about when they remember you is how you spoke God's word to them.</p><p>Don't replace teaching truth with games, media, skits, etc.</p><h4>5. Develop and implement a truth-drenched vision and philosophy of youth ministry.</h4><p>Proverbs 29:18</p><blockquote><p>Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.</p></blockquote><p>Picture youth ministry as a mountain. Develop a plan that puts the cross at the top with all the other good (but less important) things below. Then the truth of the gospel will flow down that mountain over everything you do, drenching your ministry.</p></span></div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-4853335339186956631?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-17967294132999788582009-05-07T18:48:00.002-05:002009-05-07T18:54:46.693-05:00Get your bike on!<div>I went for a little trail ride on Wednesday morning and decided to shoot a little video footage while I was out.</div><div><br /></div><div>I love mountain biking! It was very insightful and enjoyable to read. If you struggle with getting things done or you are overwhelmed with how much stuff you need to get done this book is for you. I have to get a lot done and still be really creative. That is tough for me because my mind is always on my tasks at hand. This book teaches you how to get more done and more off your mind to enable greater down time and creativity. I highly recommend this book!<br /><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://thebenshow.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/faith-and-doubt.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 464px;" src="http://thebenshow.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/faith-and-doubt.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /></div><div>Ortberg is an amazing author. It is filled with insights and leadership tips but overall it was a letdown for me. It was written similar to Axiom by Bill Hybels but was no where near as beneficial or as powerful. </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-3957363923395459550?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-13252308500745016872009-04-05T17:32:00.003-05:002009-04-05T17:37:20.617-05:00God is Amazing!!<div>Let me give you some stats.</div><div><br /></div>This wed night at Kingdom Youth Church we had 320 people in attendance.<div><br /></div><div>We baptized 94 teenagers for the first time!</div><div><br /></div><div>It was a spontaneous baptism service. </div><div><br /></div><div>We have been doing them for about 3 years but this was the largest by far. You can check out the website <a href="http://foundation.bhc.edu/leaders/">here.</a><div><br /></div><div>To be honest, I am shocked. I am only 29 years old and I know that there is so much more that God wants to do through my life.</div><div><br /></div><div>I am so thankful for God's blessing on my life and leadership. </div><div><br /></div><div>To my knowledge, only two other Pastors in the Quad Cites have ever led a Youth Church from single digits to over 300 teenagers. One, Brett Black, moved away to Des Moines and started <a href="http://www.hfichurches.com/">House of Freedom Ministries</a> and the other one fell into sexual sin and lost his pastorship.</div><div><br /></div><div>I am begging God to enable me to lead this Youth Church onward and upward. If we keep the same growth path that we have been on for the past 3 years we will be over 1,000 young people by 2012. That will be a miracle! </div><div><br /></div><div>And that is what I am believing God for!! </div><div><br /></div><div>I believe that the people in the Quad Cities are ready to see God do something that has never been done before! </div><div><br /></div><div><div><div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000EE;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /></span></span></div><br /></div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-755093623900792060?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-47659308293716236252009-03-11T10:55:00.001-05:002009-03-11T10:56:39.028-05:00Listen to your ladyAwesome, hilarious video that all of us married men really need to hear.<br /><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3V0mhsGsbDo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3V0mhsGsbDo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-4765930829371623625?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-1360624522692124342009-03-09T11:57:00.002-05:002009-03-09T12:07:17.090-05:00The way of the artist<object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KZYlQ4Wv8lE&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KZYlQ4Wv8lE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3711429530812706033-136062452269212434?l=www.godinaheadlock.com'/></div>Pastor Justinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352553443921283414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3711429530812706033.post-37755866296686181232009-03-04T08:19:00.002-06:002009-03-04T08:34:24.053-06:00Apple Connoisseur<div>This is my obsession.</div><div><br /></div><div>I love apple products.</div><div><br /></div><div>In the past couple of years I have shelled out some serious dough to Apple, Inc.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here is a list of the Apple products I'm rocking right now.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://blog.lib.umn.edu/liblearn/blog/new-ipod-shuffle-lg.png"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 509px; height: 353px;" src="http://blog.lib.umn.edu/liblearn/blog/new-ipod-shuffle-lg.png" border="0" alt="" /></a>Ipod Shuffle.
