There is one aspect of this subject that I always find perplexing: why are we so afraid to ask students about their learning? <BR/>Within the visual arts studio environment, kids talk. They talk about school, and they talk about teaching and learning, and they talk about their educational frustrations. I really think we can bridge this "frustration gap" with new literacies. However, we have to be brave enough to ask the questions and work with them as collaborators. They LOVE having in-depth, meaningful discussions with adult mentors about things that matter.
