When I first saw the advertisement for the $1 double cheeseburger at Burger King I knew it was just too good to be true. I thought maybe they would skimp on some of the ingredients or the actual size of the beef patty, but I was wrong. That thang was delicous! And now I come to here this...

CHICAGO (AP) -- Burger King franchisees sued the hamburger company this week over its $1 double cheeseburger promotion, saying they're losing money on the deal and the company can't set maximum menu prices.

The National Franchise Association, a group that represents more than 80 percent of Burger King's U.S. franchise owners, said the $1 promotion forces restaurant owners to sell the quarter-pound burger with at least a 10-cent loss.

While costs vary by location, the $1 double cheeseburger typically costs franchisees at least $1.10, said Dan Fitzpatrick, a Burger King franchisee from South Bend, Ind. who is a spokesman for the association. That includes about 55 cents for the cost of the meat, bun, cheese and toppings. The remainder typically covers expenses such as rent, royalties and worker wages.

"New math, or old math, the math just doesn't work," Fitzpatrick said.

After testing the $1 deal in markets across the country, the discounted burger went on sale nationwide last month even though franchise owners, who operate 90 percent of the company's 12,000 locations, twice rejected the product because of its expense.

"The current management team has disregarded rights that Burger King franchisees have always had," Pennsylvania franchise owner Steve Lewis said in a statement.

Here's another one for the Internet Needs This file: a performance piece/how-to on the art of snapping with attitude from the 1990 documentary...thing, Tongues Untied. The movie is kind of a melting pot of performances like the one above, monologues, spoken word recitations and interviews (with minimal affectation, for a change), all attempting to sum up what it was like to be black and gay in America at the time it was made. It's definitely something. The above clip stands out as a highlight to the point that I can't believe it wasn't on YouTube before I uploaded it. There is a younger generation of sassy gay (and gay-friendly) men that is missing out on this important lesson. If a choreographed performance piece doesn't teach them, what will?

Well, let me start off by saying that I don't want to insult the ~~two people~~ loyal readers who read this site. But I had a horrific experience at the grocery store this weekend with your cousins(from your fartha side).

For some strange reason I neglected to notice the large amount of welfare recipients who frequent the grocery store during the 1st of the month. These people consist of mothers using WIC, Food Stamps, and people who collect Social Security. Now, before anyone gets offended, I do understand that this is a recession, people are getting laid off, and children need to eat. With that being said, I've devised some ideas that I think will make things run a lot smoother. If you are a member of Congress, or Leader of the Free World and reading this, please take note.

1. Create a special "express" line just for people who are using EBT. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a form of discrimination. I'm sure that someone with a EBT card also gets all huffy when they see someone whip out there personal check book in the check-out.

2. Don't bring all your children. Trust me, it will make things go along a lot smoother during check-out.

3. Try shopping during work hours. This only applies if you are not currently employed.

4. Don't use you entire allowance for the month in one day. Try and stretch out those bucks for the rest of the month. That way, you don't have to get 2 carts full of ribs and seafood.

Ben Ali, co-founder of Washington, D.C., landmark restaurant Ben's Chili Bowl, died Wednesday night. He was 82.

"The Ali family and all of the Ben's Chili Bowl ... family want to thank Ben Ali for leading this legacy and allowing us to follow his dream," the family said in a statement online. "We miss you and love you."

The restaurant has been a cultural landmark in the city for many years in the mostly black U Street neighborhood. The luncheonette-style store, known for its chili dogs, survived and then prospered after the 1960s riots.

The neighborhood and restaurant have enjoyed a renaissance recently, especially after President Obama went there for lunch after being elected in November.source

Not too long ago I stumbled upon a website that changed my lunch hour forever. People of Walmart is a site which basically takes picture of people who frequent local Walmart's all across the nation. If you are a people watcher like me you'll enjoy the viewing the demure, lovely people Walmart.

The reason why I'm spotlighting it is because not only is the site entertaining, but it also takes in quite a bit change. The content is very straight, simple and to the point. If you're the "Tasia Mae" type that like picture books with very few words, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this site.

Well, my marriage was not broken, as far as I knew we were celebrating our child's birth and getting ready to celebrate our 25 year wedding anniversary (despite the fact that 25 years ago when i was 13 it was against the law for my wife to be sexing me like that) . Call it blind love, whatever. I call it being a devoted husband. As far as me blaming him and not blaming her, thats false. Me and my wife have worked out our differences. We are in a good place as people and as parents. I accept her choices and I am comfortable enough with myself to move on. I am so very blessed in many ways.

My concern with SW is no longer the fact that he assisted in destroying a family but that he has the audacity to make these selfish comments about love and wanting to be with someone, even after knowing their situation. How is this the same Soldier that I sang out loud with in my truck? I ask myself sometimes.

If you are reading this Steveland, let me start by saying, you know what you did. You know the role you played and you know how you contributed to the ending of my marriage. You know that I asked you to step back and let me handle my family issues. Issues that you helped to create.
Im not saying everything was perfect all the time but no relationship is perfect. We made a vow to God and I believe you should have respected that, as a man. I know you owe me or my child nothing but I just wish you would've handled things more carefully. I'm not judging you, I put you and the whole situation in the hands of God, the Higher Power. Just know that as a dude, I expected so much more from you. I never had intentions on reaching out to you this way but after reading your twits tonight, and the constant disregard, you left me no choice. This is a publicity stunt, I do have a record coming out in February called How I Got Over. I just need to close this chapter in my life and that means confronting our issues. There is a 42 year old child involved (despite the fact my child is older than me...this is my twisted fantasy leave me be). His momma loves him to death and she wants to spend more time with our child but shes afraid because he knows we don't have a relationship. This is my main concern. The judge then told the authorities that Serena threatened to kill her, and Serena was given a second code warning causing her to lose the match and the semi-finals to Kim Clijsters.
