In October, English students visited the 1^st and 2^nd World battlefields in the Somme and <st1:place st="on">Pas de Calais</st1:place> areas, looking too at the War Poetry that was generated by the horrific conflicts of the 20^th century played out on French soil.<span style=""> </span>French students are set to visit <st1:country-region st="on">England</st1:country-region> in December to visit the site of the Norman invasion in 1066 which is such a pivotal event in the histories of <st1:country-region st="on">France</st1:country-region> and <st1:country-region st="on"><st1:place st="on">England</st1:place></st1:country-region>. The French pupils will also visit <st1:city st="on">London</st1:city>’s <st1:placename st="on">Imperial</st1:placename> <st1:placename st="on">War</st1:placename> <st1:placetype st="on">Museum</st1:placetype> and other sites of ‘Norman’ <st1:country-region st="on">England</st1:country-region> in the capital, spending a session with English pupils exploring the joint historical bond between the South of England and <st1:state st="on">Normandy</st1:state> in <st1:place st="on"><st1:country-region st="on">France</st1:country-region></st1:place>.<o:p></o:p></span> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style=""><o:p></o:p>At <st1:place st="on"><st1:placename st="on">Hove</st1:placename> <st1:placetype st="on">Park</st1:placetype> <st1:placetype st="on">School</st1:placetype></st1:place> a number of Year 9 pupils are fast-tracked in French to take their French GCSE two years early.<span style=""> </span>These students are to visit <st1:city st="on"><st1:place st="on">Dieppe</st1:place></st1:city> in the Spring Term of 2007 in order to receive tuition and practice from the counterparts.<span style=""> </span>They will communicate via ICT first, rehearsing writing and speaking assignments crucial for exam success in June 2007.<span style=""> </span>They will also visit the sites of the failed ‘Dieppe Raid’ in 1942 when Canadian and British troops were defeated trying to seize a functioning port from the occupying German forces.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style=""><o:p>For more information about the Dieppe Raid go to: </o:p><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieppe_Raid">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieppe_Raid</a><o:p></o:p></span></p><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/36831643-116221670488493355?l=www.hovepark.org.uk%2Flanguage_college%2Finterreg'/></div>Hove Parkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09688030328436314857noreply@blogger.com
