The 42 year old postal worker (recently separated from husband Gerry and living in a £40,000 house) has just replaced her income of £21,000 a year with a cool £35.4 million, earning her approximately £21,000 a week in interest alone!

On Monday morning, she strolled into work at the sorting office completely unaware that she had the winning ticket sitting in her handbag. She'd spent Saturday night out with pals and Sunday sitting at home watching TV.

It wasn't until she was on a break (having heard that the EuroMillions jackpot had gone unclaimed) that she decided to check her ticket. Describing herself as 'flabbergasted', she asked friends at work to check the numbers as she couldn't believe she had won.

Completely flustered, Angela telephoned the lottery operator's claim line to confirm she'd won, only to find she'd dialled the gambling helpline by accident! Another call later confirmed her dreams were indeed true ...

Friday night marked a massive EuroMillions win for one lucky ticket holder of the £35.4 million jackpot.

It will be the largest ever payout in UK lottery history since the pan-european EuroMillions lottery began in 2004. The lucky ticket holder has beaten odds of 76 million to 1 ... however, the winner has yet to step forward and claim the prize.

A spokeman for the National Lottery said, "“We don’t know who they are yet, we won’t know until they come forward. Lots of people don’t actually check their numbers until the following day, particularly with the EuroMillions because it’s not drawn until Friday night. They have 180 days to claim a lottery prize, so they’ve got plenty of time yet.”

Camelot will wait 25 days for the winner to come forward, after which an appeal will begin to try and find them.

I received an interesting email from a reader asking me what the EuroMillions Plus was all about ... I didn't have a clue!

She said she went to her local retailer to purchase a EuroMillions ticket, and the assistant asked her if she would also like to play Plus for an additional €1.

So after a little hunting around, I've found out it's an addtional game they offer to players in Ireland.

For €1 per panel, you can have your first 5 main numbers in the EuroMillions entered into an extra draw for a chance to win €500,000.

Email Lotto Scam Targeting Ulster Computer Users

A NEW email lotto scam claiming to come from the Irish National Lottery is targeting computer users in Ulster.

People are being warned the email is fake and with absolutely no link to the Republic's official gaming organisation.

And the official Irish Lottery is urging recipients to bear in mind one simple fact - you can't win a prize in a lottery you haven't entered.

The bogus email was sent to a Belfast pensioner who was initially taken in by the promise she'd won £785,963.

It purported to come from a Mr Mark O Meara, National Co-ordinator, Irish National Lottery, 11G Lower Dorset Street, Dublin 1.

But, when checked further, it turned out to be a scam.

The genuine Irish Lottery has urged the public to be vigilant.

Said a spokesman: "These lottery scams are cleverly and convincingly written, but deceptive and completely fraudulent.

"Thousands of people have lost money paying 'commissions' and 'charges' to receive cash prizes they've been falsely told they've won.

"The opportunists behind these scams are stealing large amounts of money from gullible people and they tarnish the legitimate marketers of government lotteries."

When Sunday Life contacted Trading Standards, a spokesman said it had been unaware of this particular scam.

But after investigation he confirmed it was a fraud.

He said: "Treat them with caution, be wary and do not respond to such emails.

"No one should ever part with money or disclose banking details to anyone linked to these rip-offs."

This is what makes the blog worth while:

I want to thank your website for helping me avoid a possible scam.

Last week, I received an email from the Euromillions Lotery Agency, very much like the one in the Lotto Scams section of this website. But before I did the research, I replied. I was asked to come to Brussels Belgium to claim a One Million Dollar prize I had won from the Lottery, but I have never entered that lottery.

I sent in all the neccessary paperwork, but since I was not able to go to Belgium, they appointed an Attorney for me. He sent me more paperwork, and now has requested personal identification and a partial payment of 925 euros, or approximately $1300 US dollars before he can claim my prize money on my behalf. The attorney is named Vincent De Smet, Advocaten and Procuren.

The Legal Consultation form he sent me has a picture of him, and it looks very real. But after reading some of the scams on your website, i have determined that it is a scam, and I have decided not to send him any money. He has called me twice in two days asking me to send the money by Western Union. Thank you for helpng me with this one. I will definately check back here if I get anymore emails.

Rant Time!

I can't tell you how many people contact me on a daily basis asking me to check whether an email they have received is a scam. Here's a very small sample of the sort of questions I get:

"I want you to verify whether the following email is a scam or not ..."

"I am one of winners of the UK National Lottery Online Promo Programme held on Saturday the 30th of September, 2006. Would you help me find out whether this is true or just a laugh ..."

"I am presuming this is a scam. Can you advise?"

"I received this the other day, could you check it out please"

"I have received an email about winning 5.5 million GBP. It sounds like a scam, can you please check for me?"

In the beginning, I used to personally answer every single email. This thankless task soon began to take up a lot of my personal time. What is most annoying is that the majority of people can't even be bothered to check the site for themselves!

So ... the bottom line is:

"NO! Check it yourself!"

That's why I put the Lottery Scams database on the main site! Simply search for the scam based on a reference number or company name, and if it's in there, it's a scam, if it's not, it's almost definitely a scam anyway, so just forward it onto us and we will include it.

And remember, the Golden Rule of thumb is:

If you don't remember entering a lottery, then you can't possibly have won anything!
