I think that homeschooled kids are as diverse as the families to which they belong. If a homeschooling family chooses to cut their children off from society, then their children may turn out much differently from families whose children are heavily involved in their communities or homeschool groups. In my own church, the youth are about evenly divided among private, public, and homeschooling, and they are a lovely bunch of kids. Some of the homeschooled teens have become good friends of mine through being my piano students and none of them are awkward or irritable or have a superiority complex. And they're happy people. Gee, I've recently begun researching children that are and were home-schooled. I also know several teens and adults that were home-schooled, and they seem to have problems with getting along with others including boyfriends and husbands, seem irritated and easily agitated most of the time, and have an attitude of superiority about them because they were home-schooled. They also seem not to be able to fit in with society in general. They just seem to be unhappy ALL the time. I'm wondering if it comes from being in a confined-to-home-during-schooling environment?
