I've been listening to a lot of different music lately. Lot's of different styles.Everything from roots disco to the rejuvenation of speed garage under the new name bassline house has been pumping in my headphones.

Last years LP called Untrue by UK artist Burial has been a favorite of mine. I recently stumbled upon this interview with him. He seems like a stand up humble guy, someone you'd like to hang out with and discuss music as well as life. His tunes are songs to get lost in. Where time seems like a loose definition that doesn't really apply when being immersed in his universe.

"I want to learn one day how to make tunes properly , but I wanted to do a tribute to my rubbish, dying computer. It starts smoking sometimes and the screen flickers like a strobelight, it mashes your eyes. The tunes are made where they're made, somewhere in my building, the roof or wherever, but not in some airtight studio."

Looking Back while Stepping Up

The EP that I've spoken about earlier in the blog just got released @ mephtik.net yesterday.

Label creator Jayson Napolitano has written kindly about it on Original Sound Version. The EP is coloured by how I experienced the world 2006 and 2007. It feels like a milestone to have released this. Each song tells a personal story, that I hope for people to relate their own stories with. Instead of writing more about each individual track I quote mephtik.net:s liner notes.

"We have a special treat for listeners with this release. We're proud to present Suecae Sounds out of Sweden with this beautiful 3-track EP.

The opening track, "Jag Som Ingenting" is a mystifying vocal track with pumping electronic beats, gorgeous belltone arpeggios, and undeniably addictive vocals. It is truly a pleasure to listen to.

"Inside These Walls," on the other hand, has some of the trappings of traditional techno, providing a melancoly atmosphere. The chorus section really stands out with heavy percussion and bass notes. "Watching While the World Goes By" rounds the EP off with a busy ambiance created by constantly progressing percussion and a contemplative synth line.

We hope you enjoy listening to this EP as much as we have. We look forward to hearing what comes out of Suecae Sounds in the future."

On the 18th of June the Swedish Parliament will vote on a referendum posed by the current liberal-conservative government that will open up the possibility of extensive monitoring of cable bound communication crossing the Swedish national border.

Since almost all communication today – not only on the Internet - does not adhere to national borders any more, this will open up to potential monitoring of an extreme amount of communication.

The motives of the law is to gain access to communication that goes into the wide category of posing a "foreign treat". But this law comes with a hefty price tag. Monitoring on this scale might give a sense of security, but it also opens up for systematic abuse.

This abuse might not be a reality when the system potentially is put into place, but when FRA will start monitoring communication on a wide scale, it can easily be made into something not thought out in the beginning. Training

Finally, after many months of trying to get myself to train regularly I have actually pulled trough. Even though I've only just begun, for a month or two, and becoming more serious, I've already seen changes. I am not talking about dropping so and so many kilos, but in my mentality and psyche.

Since I also move around a lot and lift a lot of weight on my job, there is really a big change during the last year. Tremendous in fact. I just wanted to share this, after finiching doing crunches and press ups, in the late hour non-the less.

Adele, Duffy and Winehouse

There are three stars that shine a little brighter in soul-heaven upon my one room apartment in Karlstad. They are Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele. I've written about Winehouse earlier here. Adele's 19 have received the least attention so I think she deserves one or two words of mentioning in my blog.

Listen to her album if you have the chance. Especially the songs Melt my heart to Stone, Make you feel my Love and Hometown Glory are worthy of mentioning. Here are her Myspace account.

Leather Jacket

Mobile photo streamed streamed to my laptop via a smallish Bluetooth dongle . Quality of the photo is somewhat off the hook. =) Anyways, I wanted to get this leather jacket the other day. I think it would fit me perfectly, but Carlings prices is not compatible with my wallet at the moment. ;)

My savings have finally yielded results. In less then two weeks this march I have purchased both a digital mixer for DJ-purposes. In this case a Numark Total Control with a external USB-Sound Card. A DJ I/O. And as by a stroke of luck I found a newly serviced HP Pavilion dv6501eo with a heavy discount.

The Hewlett Packard is a dual core platform with two AMD Athlon processors on 1.7 ghz clock. It has 120 gigabyte of hdd and one gig of ddr 2 ram (soon to be updated to two gig). It came shipped with the resource demanding OS Windows Vista Premium. The pro is that it was less expensive then the most inexpensive celeron-platform. Anyway: This will be used together with the Numark and the DJ I/O for live purposes. Maybe even as soon as the First of May.

Short update on things happening

I will DJ on Viken Bar in Karlstad on queer night out on Saturday with my friend Daniel (MlO) Naeill. I will show him the DJ-mixer and guide him as well as spin some tracks of my own during the night.

I also got a positive response to my earlier blogpost. :) Yeah. In the summer I will spin records for the nice people in Viken once or twice a month. Positive stuff indeed.

For hire

Next week I am going to try to persuade a pub-owner in my hometown to let me DJ on occasion on a more regular basis. Or at least just try to give him the idea that I am availiable for hire. The reason is partially because I am looking to purchase new equipment. First and foremost, a DJ-mixer. Then a laptop. My goal is to get more training and money so that I can afford the equipment at hand.

Let's see what happens. Wish me luck.

Communication is a precious thing. I have been thinking about closing this blog. Maybe start writing in Swedish, or maybe only to write about music. But I can not discipline myself in that way when it comes to writing. It seems that my blog, which in the beginning was intended as a music-only blog, almost from the very beginning transformed into something else. And to be honest, this was probably a good thing.

My Myspace is updated with a few nifty things. I must recommend people to give Oh No Miriam a listen. She is both talented and a very nice person. Some people have that special quality, that they spread positive energy around them. Only communicating via the internet is limited, but in this limited way, I get the feeling that she is one of these kinds of people.

And due to this, one can not help but to wish her and all people like her all the best in life. In my line of work I have come across people who are quite the opposite. They are spreading negativity with their general attitude towards life. Some may have encountered bad things and situations that have thrown them off balance. And even hurt them deep. But nothing gets better by hurting other people because you have been hurt. It results in a kind of vicious cycle.

Mourning and bad experiences are a part of life, I have written about some things that have and are troublesome for myself in this very blog. Not because I have a need of impressing readers. But as a kind of ventilating space. Maybe more people should do that, trying to break down the walls of sorrow. Speaking, communicating, blogging, reaching out. Doing music is precisely this. Communicating something. And not drawing people into ones vicious cycles.

Before I struggled with appreciating my own talent in a positive way. Now, I am getting better at precisely this. I am breaking a nasty habit. That is one of the things that I intend for the year 2008. Which is the year I will release an EP on this net-label. But I hope that this will not be the only thing I will do. Where will my musical journey take me in the future? I do not know, but I am on course and that is a rewarding feeling.
