I have my own website and besides, who needs eBay anyway? I've used the past few weeks to focus more on my handcrafted things, which has actually been a nice break and a lot of fun.<br /><br />Earlier this week, after looking around my room full of vintage, I decided to reopen my eBay store. It's been less than 30 days and I did not lose any stored information. My unsold listings were still intact. <br /><br />I've decided to start auctioning off some of my inventory items that I've had a long time. Today, I listed some new things that have never been listed before, like this great vintage 50s green peplum dress:<br /><br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/BOMBSHELL-50s-Vintage-Vogue-Special-Design-Dress-S_W0QQitemZ270272634871QQihZ017QQcategoryZ48868QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262" target="_blank"><img src="http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f121/hrl3972/greendress1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br />and this great vintage 40s nipped waist gabardine suit:<br /><br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NIPPED-WAIST-40s-Vintage-Gabardine-Handmacher-Suit-M_W0QQitemZ270272644227QQihZ017QQcategoryZ52427QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262" target="_blank"><img src="http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f121/hrl3972/gabardinesuit1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br />as well as this cute little embroidered 50s dress:<br /><br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/EMBROIDERED-WIGGLE-50s-Vintage-Wool-Day-Dress-S_W0QQitemZ270272658648QQihZ017QQcategoryZ48868QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262" target="_blank"><img src="http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f121/hrl3972/turqoise50sdress.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br />Stop by and say hi! I'm also offering a 20% discount on any items on my own site at Lone Star Vintage Clothing <a href="http://www.lonestarvintageclothing.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f121/hrl3972/mattiereid20offsale.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>. I love when it's light out when I get up at 5 a.m. and STILL light out at 8:30 p.m.! Having my coffee on the patio, the smell of freshly mown grass, and sweet, tiny grape tomatoes nibbled warm from the garden - these delights make it so hard to pull out the sweaters and coats. But, fortunately, I have these gorgeous wraps to stave off the fast approaching chill in the morning air~ Maybe autumn isn't quite so bad after all!<br /></span></span><table cellborder="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;font-family:arial;" >Vintage 40's Coral Swing Coat</span><br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=270272469245&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&amp;ih=017"><img src="http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/eyemsotired/aa391.JPG" width="50%" /></a></td><td style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><br />Vintage 60's Pumpkin<br />Spice Suede Trench<br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=270272501525&amp;ih=017"><img src="http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/eyemsotired/aa410.JPG" width="50%" /></a></td></tr><tr><td><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;font-family:arial;" >50's Faux Persian Lamb Swing Coat</span><br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=270272497366&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&amp;ih=017"><img src="http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/eyemsotired/aa399.JPG" width="50%" /></a></td><td><span style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Vintage Evans Black </span><br /><span style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Leather Wrap Coat</span><br /><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=270272468810&amp;ih=017"><img src="http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/eyemsotired/aa387.JPG" width="50%" /></a></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><span style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">All available now on Ebay</span>.Living Doll Vintagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02006976335671765397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3639574702945107807.post-23728668187590039412008-09-04T13:27:00.007-04:002008-09-05T08:12:17.257-04:00Project Runway - A Foreign Affair<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_dVJUFepMs5Q/SMAbivbx-II/AAAAAAAACoQ/xn5K7zRKEAU/s1600-h/leanne.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242220249921747074" style="WIDTH: 184px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 268px" height="280" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_dVJUFepMs5Q/SMAbivbx-II/AAAAAAAACoQ/xn5K7zRKEAU/s320/leanne.jpg" width="193" border="2" align=left hspace=10 vspace=10 /></a> This week's challenge took the designers to the office of Diane Von Furstenberg, where she made a dramatic entrance down a long set of white steps, and shook hands with what seemed like 30 or so people instead of the few designers that were actually there. She looks great, how old is she? Diane presented the challenge, which was to create an outfit that could go along with her 2008 Collection - 'Foreign Affair'. Her collection was inspired by the Marlene Dietrich film, which is set in Berlin, Shanghai and New York. The winning outfit would be offered for sale exclusively to American Express customers.<br /><br />Probably the most exciting thing to happen so far this season, for me anyway, was that the designers got to go through Diane's fabric room and choose some of her fabrics to make their outfits! I loved that because I love fabrics, I love looking at them, touching them, drooling on them. Plus Diane Von F is so well known for her beautiful prints and drapey fabrics. Yummy. Fabric lust.<br /><br />Anyway, someone please slap Blayne upside the head for whatever that thing was he had tied around his head, and for thinking that Diane was 'googling' him and his tan, and for thinking the Olsen twins are a 'fashion legend' Why is here still here?! Sadly Stella Leathuh was the one out. I know she had to go at some time, because this wasn't really her scene. She also didn't seem to be enjoying herself much anymore. But I liked Stella, she was fun. I loved her comment about the 'stylist in the oversized mu-mu'. Joe and Blayne could have gone before her. I liked the idea/look of her vest and pants, although the pants had 'the crotch that women have nightmares about' according to Mme. Kors. It just wasn't made very well, and the cape was wrong.<br /><br />Leanimal won again this week with a super beautiful 1930s inspired bias cut gown. It had a surprise ruffle down the back. I didn't care much for the coat in the fabric that she used, it seemed kind of too casual. But you can see the dress <a href="http://inside.dvf.com/americanexpress/home.php">for sale at $650.00 </a>- with much better pictures than the crappy ones from Project Runway's site. Korto was in 2nd place with a super black and white gown with a splash of yellow. Her jacket doesn't look very good in the photo above, but it was really sharp on the runway. These two are my picks for being in the final 3!<br /><br /><br />My challenge this week, first I was going to find some Diane Von F dresses currently for sale, but I decided to find something vintage that could represent each city in the movie. Check out these choices and their sellers' listings.<br /><br /><table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/T1r9Nq8QcyF-v5Li3vzRvg?authkey=ftaIdB6gRZU"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/dandelionvintage/SMAbwSUgeWI/AAAAAAAACog/sTYNIWkDGK0/s800/diane.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/dandelionvintage/VintageClothingBulletinBlogForVintageClothingVintageLingerie?authkey=ftaIdB6gRZU">Vintage Clothing Bulletin, Blog for Vintage Clothing, Vintage Lingerie</a></td></tr></table><br /><br /><strong>Berlin -</strong> <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/HATTIE-CARNEGIE-LONG-BLACK-PINK-SPECTATOR-DRESS-30S_W0QQitemZ370083118946QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item370083118946&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">HATTIE CARNEGIE LONG BLACK / PINK SPECTATOR DRESS*30S </a>- from Hollywood Classic Vintage<br /><strong>Shanghai -</strong> <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/SULTRY-Exotic-1930s-Beaded-CHEONGSAM-Black-Crepe_W0QQitemZ320290438141QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320290438141&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">SULTRY!~Exotic 1930's Beaded CHEONGSAM~Black Crepe </a>- from Furvella<br /><strong>New York -</strong> <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/BONNIE-CLYDE-VTG-30s-PLAID-SKIRT-SUIT-BLAZER-XS-S_W0QQitemZ260283093667QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260283093667&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">BONNIE &amp; CLYDE! I just can't. That is...letting go of summer. The Labor Day weekend is here in Canada which means the official end of summer vacation, kids back to school and fall fashions in the air.<br /><br />We had such a rainy, cool summer that I refuse to let summer leave without taking in every moment of sunshine available. This weekend happens to be perfect weather.<br /><br />As soon as the weather turns cold, I will be thinking of my next holiday. Spain was wonderful this year, and my niece wants me to take her to Hawaii next year. How can I refuse such a reasonable request! :-)<br /><br />So to celebrate our trip to Hawaii, here is a gorgeous cotton maxi dress by Ui-Maikai. White cotton with stunning pink hibiscus flowers and an attached train at the back. When I found this dress, I just loved how perfect the flowers were and could easily see myself wearing it in Hawaii. Then.....<br /><br />a month later found a matching gent's shirt! Lightening really can strike twice in the same place! Some Like it Vintagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11991784506231066989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3639574702945107807.post-59857826929419127892008-08-30T20:50:00.006-04:002008-08-30T21:47:55.801-04:00The Vintage Market is Coming...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.futurehippie.etsy.com"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_uqkJxLgpezs/SJZi1AR9swI/AAAAAAAAAgI/9xXwOsrsrhk/s400/FutureHippieSalebar.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230476679985345282" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:100%;"><br /></span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >Hi everybody, it's Vintage Market time! I decided that it was time to offer my collection of inventory to the public on a showroom floor and we re-located to Auburn, AL to bring hot vintage fashion to War Eagle Country! I am located at <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&amp;hl=en&amp;tab=wl" target="blank">420 S Gay Street</a> just one block behind the presidents home of Auburn University, a few doors down from the spectacular <a href="http://www.theamsterdamcafe.com/" target="blank">Amsterdam Cafe</a>. At the moment the tentative store hours are from Mon.-Fri. 11-9 and Sat. 11-10. Stop by and say hello and if you found us on this blog, mention the "vintage bulletin" for a 10% discount of your total purchase!<br /><br />Many of you have asked what does this mean for <a href="http://www.sydneysvintageclothing.com/">SydneysVintageClothing.com</a>? Trying to maintain some status and not look frivolous in the serious world of commerce and industry, women adopted a Masculine Look with Wide padded shoulders and complete covering from neck to below the knee. But you will notice that they did manage to keep a semblance of femininity with a very fitted waistline and peplum jackets that emphasized their hips.<br /><br />This lovely Gabardine suit, found on Babylon Mall, is completely dart fitted in front and back and the peplum jacket flares nicely over a pencil slim skirt.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.babylonmall.com/browseshop.php?storenum=326&amp;user=1845&amp;itemnum=35373&amp;previewpage=item"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/__YsH1vZO38k/SLgpR2A8DDI/AAAAAAAAA-g/uWBnQ5_y6Oo/s320/Suits+1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239983552979536946" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.babylonmall.com/browseshop.php?storenum=326&amp;user=1845&amp;itemnum=35373&amp;previewpage=item">Vintage 1940's Sexy Fitted Navy Blue Gabardine Suit Sm</a><br /></div><br /><br />After Johnny Came Marching Home, women we reluctant to give up their new found status in the professional world and some managed to keep their jobs and opened new employment opportunities for young women who wanted a career instead of a life of domestic bliss (notice that both was seldom an option at this time.)<br /><br />The 50's ushered in a similar but softening look in career wear. These three suits have a less structured feel although in the first shoulder pads are still prominent but smaller. The waist is softened with velvet trim on the jacket and a velvet pocket. The Pumpkin Spice flecked suit is boxy over a still slim skirt. But the fabric flows and shows all those feminine curves within the box. And the 3rd in this series is Femininity Personified. Fitted waist, small peplum that is enhanced with ruched trim and a full flared skirt and don't forget the lower V neckline.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/__YsH1vZO38k/SLgpR3sctvI/AAAAAAAAA-o/8ge4eVukrrg/s1600-h/Suits+2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/__YsH1vZO38k/SLgpR3sctvI/AAAAAAAAA-o/8ge4eVukrrg/s320/Suits+2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239983553430468338" border="0" /></a></div><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody></tbody></table><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=330260904283&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&amp;ih=014">Vintage 1950's Black Rayon Crepe Suit with Asymmetrical Trim &amp; Pocket</a><br /><a href="http://www.babylonmall.com/browseshop.php?storenum=326&amp;user=1845&amp;itemnum=35247&amp;previewpage=item">Vintage 1950s Pumpkin Spice Sexy Secretary 2pc</a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=330265349491&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&amp;ih=014">Vintage 1950's Black Faille Fitted Peplum Flare Skirt Suit </a><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">The 60's brought us a very new look with the influence of Jackie Kennedy. The cars were filled with materials that were used to make the cars, and the designers had to grab whatever they could out of the cars, and fill their little flea market carts (Those carts used to drive me crazy at the flea markets, shoppers use them as weapons and bulldozers to try to beat you to the good stuff, and it's impossible to get around them in a crowd) At first, I wasn't expecting much from this challenge because the materials were all tan and black with some shiny pieces here and there. But the resulting designs were actually quite good. Most of them anyway.<br />Leanne won this challenge with a dress sculpted from vinyl. Korto was in 2nd place with a jacket made from woven seatbelts, and Jerell was 3rd in a futuristic outfit made from vinyl and plastic silver trims - I didn't care for the model's make-up and hair though, it kind of took away from the outfit. Jerell is the only man who seems to occasionally do interesting designs this season. So far none of the men have really stood out or been consistant in their designs. My prediction is that the final 3/4 will be all gals. Korto has GOT to be in the finals because she usually provides a very good design.<br />Keith from the Utah Hood was out, finally. Did you feel sorry for all the mean things that you said about him after he cried at the end? No, neither did I. Next on my hit list - Blayne.<br /><br /><br />Of course I'm not going to be able to find any vintage clothing made from car materials to go with this week's post, so I took the easy route and found some cool items with car prints.<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dVJUFepMs5Q/SLae3KUv_3I/AAAAAAAACm4/pOcHH8eVuUo/s1600-h/cars2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239549886993530738" style="WIDTH: 467px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 309px" height="289" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dVJUFepMs5Q/SLae3KUv_3I/AAAAAAAACm4/pOcHH8eVuUo/s400/cars2.jpg" width="417" border="0" /></a><br /><br />1. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-70s-Slinky-Disco-Novelty-Antique-Car-Shirt_W0QQitemZ190193730028QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190193730028&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">Vintage 70s Slinky Disco Novelty Antique Car Shirt </a>- from Retrochic Vintage for $14.00.<br />2. <a href="http://www.dorotheasclosetvintage.com/70s.html">Racing Print Paganne dress </a>- from Dorothea's Vintage Closet.<br />3. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1950s-COTTON-Japanamai-BLOUSE-Made-In-JAPAN-CARS-Print_W0QQitemZ350084914733QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item350084914733&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">1950's~COTTON~Japanamai~BLOUSE~Made In JAPAN~CARS~Print </a>- from Eclectic Collage.<br />4. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Purse-Wooden-Purse-Man-Woman-Car-and-Beads_W0QQitemZ160277034737QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160277034737&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">Vintage Purse-Wooden Purse-Man, Woman, Car and Beads! </a>from thetreasuredpast.<br />5. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-INDIANAPOLIS-500-CAR-RACE-27-SPEED-SCARF_W0QQitemZ360083326111QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360083326111&amp;_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">VINTAGE INDIANAPOLIS 500 CAR RACE 27" SPEED SCARF </a>- from bogeyboy<br /><br /><br />Bye for now, Carol<br /><a href="http://www.dandelionvintage.com/">www.dandelionvintage.com</a>Carol@Dandelion Vintagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17152874147507606801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3639574702945107807.post-62974271771198176472008-08-28T07:01:00.004-04:002008-08-28T07:06:56.601-04:00Do You Know Who Eva Rosencrans Is?<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RkdN7kEoRcE/SLaFrPU3ObI/AAAAAAAAAu0/F5fdpoKvTYU/s1600-h/evarosencranz.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RkdN7kEoRcE/SLaFrPU3ObI/AAAAAAAAAu0/F5fdpoKvTYU/s400/evarosencranz.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239522194387057074" border="0" /></a>She designed this dress.<br /><br />How about Leslie Morris. The apartment cleanout is almost done. The deceased was not only a hoarder, she hid her best things way in the backs of closets wrapped in paper bags. When I'm at home, I'm constantly doing hand laundry, but the results are worth it!<br /><br />This kind of work immerses you in another family's history and traditions. There was a pre-World War One Singer Sewing Machine used as a computer table in the husband's combination ham radio station/office/workshop. Photographs dating back to before the turn of the century, when the family lived in Vienna. Many, many objects pertaining to Jewish traditions and rituals. And one of the coolest vintage bars I've ever seen in the entryway:<br /><br /><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v13/hoardmeister/Braverman/Bar.jpg" /><br /><br />A group of college guys bought the bar, of course.<br /><br />Among the clothes I came across, there was this beautiful mink ski jacket, lined in quilted blue:<br /><br /><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v13/hoardmeister/Braverman/Minkjacket.jpg" /><br /><br />This fox-collared jacket:<br /><br /><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v13/hoardmeister/Braverman/Foxjacket.jpg" /><br /><br />And so much more! I'm going to take the Labor Day weekend off, float in the ocean, and luxuriate in time spent with my husband and my dog, Bucky.<br /><br />Best,<br />Elisa<br /><a href="http://diaryofamadfashionista.blogspot.com/">http://diaryofamadfashionista.blogspot.com</a><br /><br />PS If you want my further thoughts on Ebay changes, check out my blog.Hoardmeisterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10258143927675533111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3639574702945107807.post-88886040702795265482008-08-27T21:31:00.009-04:002008-08-27T22:01:29.559-04:00Lace Ruffles and Pearls oh my!<div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center">We've been busy listing some pretty vintage dresses, sweaters, seperates and patterns over at GlamourSavvy.com.
