Burns' father William Burnes is buried here.

Found this branch broken lying near a stream at the edge of a wood.
The branch hadn't come from a tree nearby which is quite sad.
With the help of a wire mesh fence to hold the branch I was able to take this image with the stream as a background.

Martin's Stone

Martin's Stone can be found between Dundee and Craigowl Hill. It is said that a young man called Martin killed a dragon at this spot.

Tantallon Doocot

The doocot is in the grounds of Tantallon Castle just outside North Berwick on the east coast of Scotland. The castle has a commanding view of the Forth Estuary and out to the North Sea.

An early morning visit to Kingoodie. Kingoodie lies on the north side of the Firth of Tay.

Doocots or Dovecots

These are rather special buildings with some historical value. They come in many shapes and sizes and are usually co-located with other interesting historic sites. The doocot was a source of food for a farm or castle, the pigeons were free to feed on the surrounding countryside and return to their nesting boxes within the cot.

Finavon doocot

The largest doocot in Scotland with 2400 boxes was built in the 16th Century. Further information can be found at National Trust for Scotland and a good description at Visit Angus

Tealing doocot

A late 16th century dovecot or doocot of a rectangular style with a full pitched roof and stepped gables. The doocot is co-located with the Tealing Earth House also known as a Souterrain.
