As the Arts Center works diligently on our annual membership/fund drive, I would like to give you even more information about how our very rocky economy has affected us thus far at the AAC.We ended our last summer's Straw Hat Theater season with the very successful run of the show "Grease." Our plan was to begin the search for a new Theater Coordinator in the fall of 2008 should our Pamelanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3628575.post-5790073689760683242009-03-06T09:49:00.001-05:002009-06-21T05:59:02.363-05:00March/April 2009In late December of 2008, the Ashtabula Arts Center lost one of its most steadfast pillars with the death of Corinne Loyd.I was 7 years old when I first remember meeting Corinne. I was walking hand in hand with my mother into the Fine Arts Center on Lake Avenue to take my very first piano lesson. This tall lady with a different accent met me at the desk. She was very friendly and assuring. For the very first time, the AAC offered half price tickets to "The Nutcracker" at one performance if an audience member donated a non-perishable food item to the Safe Food Pantry. It is tough for our country, our state, our local region - and tough for us as individuals, families, businesses. Straw Hat Theatre is in full swing; our summer camps are going very well; summer classes and workshops are hopping and we're busy, busy as we always are during the summer months. With all the usage the Arts Center facilities experience, and given the age of our original building (built in 1973), you can imagine how challenging it is Pamelanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3628575.post-42227010104170494492008-04-24T13:38:00.001-05:002009-06-21T05:59:02.364-05:00May/June 2008Good day!
