I start out with it empty and along the way if I see a great poster or other large paper item, I can roll it inside the tube to protect it. The tube is also useful for protecting small fragile souvenirs that my wife likes to buy -- in this case I might wrap the item with socks or some other clothing before stuffing it into the tube. Jeans are out. I prefer a lightweight quick drying fabric. The weight of three of these equals one pair of jeans. T-shirts in cotton are also out. Two t-shirts, a pair of jeans, and a good light weight dress (for girls) is a great amount when traveling. When we travel we share two backpacks with four people and it has always been enough. <BR/>Now, for those who really do not know how to achieve this "light packing" the answer is Combine. Make sure that you can mix and match all your clothes, to create different outfits. And what if you really get tired of wearing the same thing all the time?
