Okay... I'm still waiting... eh?

Yeah... I think I proved my point...

So here it is the 4th week of the 2006 NFL season and the Packers play the Eagles on Monday Night Football and I'm writing about Canada and my disdain for all things Canadian not named Pam or wearing ice skates.

Now there's a reason to my madness... and it all has to do with Canadian imports... Television Sitcoms... the World's most insipid 'chick flic' evah... our current roster of Green and Gold Gladiators... and a man named Alan Thicke.

Now the first thing I want to say about Alan Thicke is that he's Canadian. It's the theme of the day and fits the narrative. Secondly... Mr. Thicke starred in a 80's/90's sitcom called 'Growing Pains'.

I'm sure you all can remember it... Alan Thicke played Dr. Jason Seaver... Joanna Kearns played his wife Maggie... and they had three adorable children... the most notable being Kirk Cameron. Actually... 'Growing Pains' was Kirk's breakout hit that launched his stellar hollywood career... and led to such blockbusters as... 'The Miracle of the Cards' (2001)... 'Night of Joy' (2005)... and of course who can forget... 'You Lucky Dog' (1998). Speaking of blockbusters and breakout hits... 'Growing pains' is also responsible for hoisting (then unknown) child actor... Leonardo DiCaprio as Luke Brower. (Cherub on left)

Okay... so I've established a clear Canadian conspiracy... proven the fact with the Canadian Alan Thicke... and demonstrated my thesis with the sitcom 'Growing Pains'. Here's the part where the beauty of it all comes together... and the plot starts to... Thicke-n.

Leonardo DiCaprio starred in the World's Most... Self Indulgent... Overrated... Chic Flic Disaster Movie of all time (No not 'The Aviator') of course I'm talking about 'Titanic'. You all recall Leo (Jack Dawson) doing his imitation of a frozen fish stick... and you all recall the famous song from that movie... 'My Heart will Go On' sung by the talented warblerette... Celine Dion who is... Canadian!

Coincidence? I think not... eh!

Kirk Cameron also had a talented sibling... his sister Candace Cameron Bure who played DJ on the sitcom 'Full House'. Now Candace grewed up... and she grewed up real good... reaaaaaaaal good... and she got married to Valeri Bure who is Russian (not Canadian)... but... he's also...

Wait for it...
A professional Hockey player!

Coincidence? I think not... eh!

Now I bring up 'Growing Pains' today because that's a bit of what the Packer's are going through right now. They call it rebuilding... but in order to rebuild... you must first tear down what has already been built... or else it's just... well building. Hence the 're' prefix.

I totally get the fact that (at times) you need to tear down something.... so you can build something else 'better' in it's place. Lambeau stadium is an example... it just went through millions of dollars for improvement. Now... it's more state of the art... and fan friendly.

But lo us Packer fans are a fickle lot who don't accept changes very well. Remember the old Packer light bulb joke?

Q: How many Packer fans does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Five... one to change the light bulb and four to sit around and talk about who good things were when we still had the old light bulb

And there ya go...

Growing Pains are never fun...

So I'm surfing the web yesterday morning... putting together yesterday's post and eating my Lucky Charms and I come across this article... Kicker Brought In To Compete With Rayner. Now I have to admit I was a bit confuzled... I mean didn't we just cut Cundiff and BJ because we didn't want Ryan and Rayner to feel like someone was constantly breathing down their necks? And that's when it happened!

Whatever you want to call it... It was right there staring up at me from my kitchen nook! The pink hearts... yellow stars... green clovers... ummm turquise horse shoes... ummm purple mountains majesty... and all the other 47 different shaped colored marshmallows had formed the word 'Apprentice' in my cereal bowl. And that's when it all became clear to me.

Ted Thompson's been doing this all wrong!

We've actually been paying guys to come in and kick field goals and punt... when what we should have been doing was to make this whole tryout stage into one of those reality shows.

Now just hang with me and check it...

Huh??? Huh??? Are ya feelin' me???
Are ya smellin' what the Packer Pundit is cookin'???

Here's the dealeo... we put a nationwide search out for the best and brightest young minds and kickers... choose 18 out of the millions of applications... make sure we get at least 2 hot chicks and 1 totally neurotic geeky guy... split them into two teams... then each week we have them do task like... oh... kick an extra point... ummm punt the ball for say... a 40 yard average and 4.5 seconds hang time... or maybe come up with a promotional gimmick to sell razor blades or soda pop by seeing which team can humiliate themselves the most by turning themselves into street vendors and selling their products to passing pedestrians.

We're talking huge ratings!
We're talking a 33.7% share of 18-35 year olds!
We're talking Emmy!

And then next year...

Oh yeah baby!

Death / Taxes / Over Priced Gas / and someone asking Brett Favre if he's going to retire this year. Seeing how this is like the 4th Installment of Number 4's Retirement Season... I decided to put together this little tribute...

Now the nice thing about doing a 'Brett Favre Tribute Top Anything' is that Brett has been playing for so many years now that he provides a plethora of moments to choose from. Okay... my co-workers bet me I couldn't use the word 'plethora' in a sentence so now that I got that out of the way...

1993 Playoffs / January 8, 1994
Pontiac Silver Dome

It was freaky deaky freezing cold in Pennsylvania... Green Bay... and Pontiac... but Pontiac had the Silver Dome where it was a cool 72° all day long. I was married to Ex 2 at the time and she just didn't get me and the Packer obsession thingie. She couldn't understand my pulling the Lazy-boy in front of the TV... wearing my #34 Packer Jersey... and screaming at the Television as if I expected them to actually hear me and do what I said. (And that was just during the commercials). I was suffering from what was mis-diagnosed as TMJ but latter turned out to be just an abscessed tooth.

The game went back and forth and it looked pretty bad in the 3rd quarter when the Pack got down by 17. George Teague (Rookie) turned the game around with a 101 yard interception return for a Touchdown. I jumped out of that Lazy-boy and I swear I ran right along with him right into the End Zone!

Then later in the 4th the Lions took a late lead in the game going up 24-21. Brett brought the team down field and with just 55 seconds left in the game... Brett rolled right... then was pressured by the Lions... he scrambled to the left then spotted Sterling Sharpe deep down the right sideline. Favre HEAVED the ball across the field and against his body and momentum... hit Sterling right on the money a few steps in the End Zone to give the Packers the lead and eventually the win.

My jaw was inflamed by the end of the game but there was No way I was leaving till all the high-lites had rolled (Including Holmgren giving Teague a game ball). After the game... Ex 2 rushed me to the hospital emergency room because my jaw was hurting so bad (remember... they thought it was TMJ). It was then I first learned the wonder and delight of percacette.

And who says Brett can't play in a Dome? My first two Favre-a-rite moments both took place indoors. Likewise... I watched both games indoors and still in that same Lazy-boy. That reminds me... I need to contact Canton and see if they want it as an archive.

Well... long before Katrina tore apart 'The Big Easy'... native son Brett Favre had a Super Super Bowl. The opening drive for the Packers... ended in a perfectly thown and 'audibled' 54 yard bomb to Andre 'Rent Me' Rison. Remember how Brett checked off the original play and audibled to that one? It's amazing what useless knowledge my brain will retain.

Green Bay jumped out to an early 10-0 lead but before the quarter ended... Patriot QB Drew Bledsoe tossed two short TD's to go in front 14-10. In the second... Brett out did his first quarter toss by throwing an 81 yard bullet/bomb to Antonio Freeman. The 81 yards is STILL a Super Bowl record.

The game see-sawed back and forth until Desmond Howard ran back a patriot kick 99 yards to seal the deal. Brett also had a 2 yard run for a TD. In all Brett finished 14-27 / 246 yards / 2 passing TD's and 1 Running TD.

Bearly Able to Play
November 12, 1995 / Lambeau Field

The week before this game... Brett badly injured his ankle versus the Vikings in (of course) a Dome. Brett had to leave that game and it was doubtful he would be able to play versus the Bears... thus ending the streak. Well... we all know Brett played... and not only did he play... he played spectacularly on that gimpy ankle of his.

Now of the Four 'moments'... this one is probably the least remembered yet I feel it says more about the heart and charactor of Brett. Most people would have sat the Bear game out... but the Packers needed a win badly (they had lost 2 in a row and needed the win 'just' to gain a share of the division lead) and Brett isn't most people.

That is to say...
most people don't throw 5 touchdowns in a game.
That is to say...
most people don't complete 25-33 for 336 yards.

The Packers won the game... went on to win the division... beat the 49ers in the playoff but then fell to the dreaded Cowboys in the Championship game. This playoff run set the stage for next years Super Bowl 31 victory... and THAT'S all because of the heart of Brett Favre in game 11 of 1995.

How could I have a Top Anything list of Brett Favre moments and not include the emotional and heart tugging game Brett played the week of his father's untimely passing. Anyone who has lost a parent... or a family member... can relate to the 'numbness' that takes over the body... for Brett to play through all that emotion... all that hurt and heart pain... is truly remarkable.

Let me set this up again. As was the Packer's want under Mike Sherman... we sucked early and had to fight our way back into the playoffs. 2003 was no exception. The Packer's HAD to win this game or their improbable run to the playoffs would never have happened.

We are all aware of Brett's love and devotion to family and especially Big Irv he was not only his dad... but his high school coach. His passing was sudden (heart attack) and of course unexpected... yet Brett Cowboy'd up... and put in yet another Herculean effort. Of course it didn't hurt to have all your receivers (especially Javon Walker) catch everything you threw up... and I mean everything. Javon had a career night with 124 yards and catching 2 TD's... one a spectacular circus catch he made in the end zone between 2 Oakland D-backs. That pass was... let's face it... one that should never have been thrown... yet Favre tossed it on a wing and a prayer... and the prayer was answered!

Brett finished the game with 4 minutes left with a 154.9 passer rating... he was 22-30 for 399 yards and 4 TD's.

The Packers went on to win 41-7... the Vikings still could have won the division if it wasn't for the prayer Arizona QB Cade McNown three up on the last play of the game. Then of course came the Al Harris OT interception after Hasselbeck guaranteed a Seahawk victory... and then the 4 and 26 play which... well... if Sherm would have had a set... would never had happened because we were killing the Eagles on the ground and Sherman punted on 4th and inches in their territory instead of going for the jugular and the win... like winning teams do.

But that's another story for another time...

I was out for my walk today and it occured to me... ya know... maybe this Mike McCarthy guy is gunna be all right! -- I'm Just Saying...

See I was thinking... yes walking and thinking... multitasking... that's how I roll... so I'm thinking... ya know I remember not to many years ago when my buddy Don Baughn... last named pronounced Bon... so it kinda rythmes... that's how HE rolls... asked me what it is I know 'bout a certain Tight Ends/QB coach of the Pack... a dude named Andy Reid.

Ya see my buddy Don Baughn (rythmes with Bon) is a Philidelphia Eagles fan... and... well there is no cure... but he's a good guy and... well a friend... so I gave him the 411 and the deleooo on Missers Reid.

Basically... I said he was a joke... in charge of making sure Holmgren's donuts were fresh during team meetings... and no jelly filled... effin' Holmgren hates jelly filled... that's how he rolls...

So Don's like... well the Eagles just hired him as coach... And I'm all... yeah? Well he'll make a pretty good TE/QB coach... it's all good... it's all good!

So Don's like... ummmm no... they hired him for Head Coach.

So I'm all... okay... I'm not even TRYin' to hear that... Bite me!

And I'm thinkin'... yeaaaah... Karma baby... that's what you get for stiffin' us with Ray Rhodes! I'm just saying...

Well short story long... the Eagles have been pretty dern successful under Andy Reid... 4 consecutive NFC Championships... a trip to the Big Dance... and an impressive 70-42 (.625) record.

Not bad for Holmgren's former goffer! Of course Holmgren saved the good jobs... Wide Receivers coach and washing his car... for Jon Gruden. I'm just saying...

So I'm walking and I'm thinking and I'm saying to myself... maybe this Mike McCarthy guy will be another... Holmgren... or Gruden... or maybe even... Andy Reid.

All I'm saying is... I likes what I sees so far. M&M seems to have a plan... he's implimenting it... I seriously think he can get through to Brett... Something ole' Sherm never could do... he just... I dunno... seems right.

In Defense of Favre

Basically that was the argument Colin Cowherd laid forth yesterday on his ESPN Radio program. Not to be outdone... and further carrying Colin's water... The Mike and Mike Show (also ESPN Radio), starring Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg, reiterated the point.

Here was their basic premise. Randy Johnson, Shaquielle O'Neal and Brett Favre are basically... in the twilight of their careers and maybe... just maybe they should consider packing it in.

RJ has struggled (He's 5-3) and does not seem to "go after" hitters like he used to. A commentator pointed out that 5 years ago... Randy would just bring the heat and not be concerned about who was up or what the game situation was... He was Randy effin' Johnson and he was the 6'10" Terminator!

On Shaq, their argument centered around the centers complaints of refs calling the game too tight. They bemoaned (Mostly Cowherd) less than stellar stats. Shaq had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 fouls in 29 minutes of play in the Heats' 111-89 win over the Nets.

Brett, of course, is in his off season. They seemed to focus on Brett's saying "Give me one or two more players and we can win." Ya know... I don't actually recall Brett saying that. I do recall his wanting the Pack to go out and field a competitive team... that I do recall... it's the Namath like guarantee of wins I don't recall.

Now Mike Golic, who actually played a sport, made the observation (after a listener emailed this point) that even an aging Randy Johnson, Shaq and Brett... are better than 70% of the rest of the players out there... they just don't "dominate" like they used to.

Golic further instructed that, perhaps it would be wise for the trio, as well as other elder sports heros, to consider going all Jerome Bettis up in herrre. Basically, adapt your game. Jerome carried the ball less... specialized in Redzone and Ball control (Colts game goal line fumble hahahaha). Jerome also took a pay cut. Jerome... went out on top! Point taken.

Mike Greenberg, illicted the incredibly ridiculous statement of... Brett can't do the things he could when he was 30. First off... he's only effin' 36 now... that's just 6 years Greeny... duh! Secondly, anybody that's actually been following Brett knows full damn well Brett hasn't lost a single rpm on his patented fastball. Hell they still marvel at that with jugs guns during Pack Monday nighters! So basically my point is... double duh... What you saw out of Brett last year was exactly what you saw out of Brett in 2000. He just looks older.

Now listen... I get the point. I'm old enough to remember the fat Elvis. Sure... it would have been nicer to just remember the King as the good looking swivel hipped lady killer that he was in the 60's.

But age... pills... and the "all you can gorge" buffet table at Ceasers did Elvis in.

Has Brett lost a step?
How the Hell should we know? Brett rarely ran the ball... how many effin' times have you yelled at your tv screen on 3rd and 1, Brett's scrambling... he's right there... RIGHT effin' THERE at the down marker... he could trip over his own effin' shoe laces and move the chains but Nooooooooooooo... Super arm has to chuck the mo fo 40 yards down the field!

I swear... on my mother's eyes this happens at least 4 times a year!

As to Brett's "playing Past" the time he should.
Heck in a hand basket people... we go through this same anal exam every year... Brett saying... "I don't wanna be one of those guys that played one year too many." Yadda yadda effin' yadda already!

As to Last season's interceptions to TD's ratio...
Bite me! As Packer fans we know full effin well Brett was on his 5th Running back (Green, Davenport, Fisher, and Gado... all injured) Walker and Franks went down early... Walker for the season! He ended the season throwing to Driver, Lee, Chatman, Gardner and Thurman. Bite me! All that with Wahl and Flannigan and Rivera gone. (Flanny due to injury but that still counts) It just floors me that they lumped Brett into that mix of players.

I mean... seriously... who reads defense's better than Brett Favre? Nobody Who scrambles better than Brett... seriously... don't give me no Michael Vick crap... dude looks to run the ball coming out of the tunnel and you know it... I guess I should word this... who has the best escapability? Brett does... the dude has butter hips when he's scrambling and here's a little secret we all know and thankfully the rest of the league hasn't learned... Brett is more accurate when he's on the move.

Why the Hell don't they roll his ass out more???

Lastly... I will admit... Brett does need to play smarter. Hey I liked Sherm but he had No discipline over Brett. Truth be known... Holmgren barely had it.

Hopefully, McCarthy will be able to reason with Brett to "stick to" the system a bit more and Not try to win every game with a single throw.

Brett Favre's biggest enemy has always been Brett Favre.

All that said... Brett aint no Fat Elvis!

Laura Quinn is a Babe

Let me first start out by saying that my judging people by their looks is Risky at best. However, I will say this in my defense... People do have a tendency to confuse me with Brad Pitt... I can't tell you how many times people have said I look like the Pitts!

So with all that said... I'd like to discuss a topic I find most disturbing.
People Bashing Laura (A. J. Hawk's girl friend) Quinn's Looks!

Now all of you know the Packers selected A. J. Hawk out of The Ohio State University. Rugged... strong... caveman like with long "biker" hair looking like he just came out of central casting for the remake of "Road House".

Now some women dig this look (my cousin Robin for one... she has a Darius Kasparaitis fetish and her husband Wayne has biker hair too). Personally... I just don't get it... I always thought chicks dig balding, middle aged guys with well developed love handles... okay... love handle bars.

Yeah... we all know 'bout A. J. But did you know who his girl friend is? Well yeah... I sort of gave that away a couple sentences ago but yeah... it's Laura Quinn. And did you also know that Laura's brother is none other than Notre Dame QB and future #1 draft pick, Brady Quinn?

Well... if you knew all that already... my bad! But if this is news to you... what may also serve as a bulletin is this... Laura Quinn gets dis'ed for her looks!

Bite Me! Maybe I'm just old fashioned. Maybe I come from a different time. Maybe I need to visit the optomerist... But... Bite Me! When did it become fashionable to cut down a players wife, fiance, or girl friend because of her looks and... Double Bite Me! I think Miss Quinn is a total drop dead Hawtie!

Now let me add something here. I really struggled with writing this post or not. I first learned of this Laura "Hater-aid" from one of the Packer Forums discussion topics.

I wont say which one... but it wasn't kind.

Also... not that Miss Quinn or A. J. or Brady or even Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman would ever read this silly little blog but... if by chance... I wasn't going to add to the "hurt" if she wasn't aware of the snide comments or... simply give a forum to them.

But I did feel compelled to write this. So here we are.

In researching the subject I came across a couple articles of Laura Bashing. The first, surprising enough, comes from SI.com (Sports Illustrated) where they find the time to get a little dig in to Laura, under the above picture I posted. (Link)

Hey, Laura Quinn, hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes of fame.

Now I ask you... what the eff is up wid dat? This is a major sports publication that just dissed the Pack's #1 pick's fiance and the future Heisman and #1 over all pick Brady Quinn's sister!

And Hellooooooooo... what the eff was her crime?
Supporting her fiance and brother by wearing a split ND/OSU jersey!
That sucks! SI.com... you suck!

Not to be out done... CBS Sportsline.com writer Matt Rehm said...

"I'm sure Laura Quinn is a fine person, but judging by her hair and makeup, she apparently just stepped out of a Whitesnake video. I'm here to help, though. Just put down the eyeliner, Laura, and nobody gets hurt."

Why don't you try sticking to... sport's writing is it... and leave the fashion critque up to Mr. Blackwell. You Butt munch! CBS Sportsline... you're pathetic!

Now just to prove the entire world isn't full of ass hats and sport's writers... or both... I did find this article coming to Laura's defense... oh... and for the record... I happen to dig chicks that step out of Whitesnake videos... it's all good... it's all good!

The blogging universe was even less kind. I won't quote any blog entries, but suffice it to say that many felt obliged to fill web message boards with offensive smut. I found unenlightened commentary on Laura's teeth, jaw, hair, breathing technique and hand size, along with name-calling and assumptions about Laura's promiscuity. I could spend these 700 words coming to the defense of Laura, expressing outrage at the poor taste or jealousy of a relative few. But instead, what I find disturbing is that none of this is at all remotely surprising. And therein lies a sad aspect of the state of our media culture: a contempt for normal people that are cast in the spotlight. I think we've grown numb to the phenomenon. Where does this contempt come from? At the risk of being tackled for a loss while walking across campus, let's state the obvious: Laura is a hottie. On top of that, she's polite, well-spoken, and knowledgeable about sports. She held her own with seasoned reporters on a local sports show the night before the Fiesta Bowl. On the other hand, an unscientific poll of female friends on campus reveals that A.J. is, in fact, not the prettiest of guys. Sure, he has the kind of football and financial future that most of us can't work into even the wildest of our realities. But on the surface, he resembles what he probably is: a hulking, smashmouth linebacker who eats nails for breakfast. Yet, I didn't find a single insult thrown A.J.'s way on web discussion boards or sports sites. Yes, A.J. is evaluated for his athletic skills, and men overwhelmingly report on that topic. But still, why does Laura get the backlash? My theory is that she's attractive enough to cause some ordinary folks to hunt for flaws, which probably can be attributed to envy more than anything. It's unfortunate that the web provides a forum for that. All in all, the Laura-Brady-A.J. storyline was innocent and compelling. In fact, the only off-the-field storyline more compelling (and decidedly less innocent) would be if A.J. and Brady instead were tormented by the football version of "Brokeback Mountain." Imagine A.J. driving Brady into the ground, then looking away and saying, "I wish I could quit you." Until that happens, the cute girl will remain the easy target of ridicule.

Now that there's some serious smack!

Yesterday I brought you a post about A.J. Hawk's Total Hawtie of a Fiance, Miss Laura Quinn! I explained how "certain" Butt Munch Bloggers, Forum Commenters and even "legit" sport's writers, were dis'ing the lovely Miss Quinn. Cough*Bed Wetters*Cough

Looking at me with those accusing eyes of yours.
You all think this is just going to be another Bash Mike Sherman™ post when in fact the truth of the matter is...

It's my 1,000th Bash Mike Sherman™ post!

Okay so let me start by saying that as a Coach and a GM... Sherm was a pretty darn good...

Coach!

I thought he was a great play caller and motivator. Remember when he started and the Pack was in a slump and he brought them in donuts and took them bowling? Bite Me... if my boss did that I'd totally be motivated!

And his record says it all... 53-27 with a .663 winning percentage in his first five years with 3 Division Championships and...

and...

Yeah... that's the only problem... the "and" that follows is his less than stellar Playoff record of 1-4. Including 2 Lambeau losses and that ridiculous 4th and 29 against the Eagles.

However... that stupid pass over the middle for the first should never have even happened had Sherm simply grew an effin' pair and run the damn ball on 4th and inches just before that. The Packers could EASILY have run the clock out and been on to the Championship Game.

*huff huff huff*

Okay... Dr. Nichols says I need to get over this part of my life... practice 'positive thinking' and embrace my inner child... and at $75.00 an hour he must know what he's talking about...

Well we can't cry over spilt dairy and I'm sooooooo over that now. Sort of!

Now as to his General Managing skills... I wont even get into the whole Joe Johnson signing (Not Sherm's fault... the same way it wasn't Bush's fault there weren't and WMD's. Heck all the intelligence from the CIA said Johnson was going to be a great pass rusher and Saddam had Nukes!) But what I do want to vent about is his... Gawd awful drafting record.

As we all know...the NFL draft is the life blood of a team... let's go check out Sherm's drafting... and make sure you have a pint of O positive handy... just in case.

** Of the players drafted in 2001, Robert Ferguson and David Martin are the only ones remaining. (Jamal Reynolds was #1 but in Sherm's defense... this was more Ron Wolf's draft than his)

** Of the players drafted in 2002, Najah Davenport and Aaron Kampman are the only ones remaining. (Javon Walker was #1 and we all know how that worked out)

** Of the players drafted in 2003, Nick Barnett and Kenny Peterson (bust) are the only ones remaining.

** Of the players drafted in 2004, 4 remain: Ahman Carroll (bust), Donnell Washington (bust), B. J.Sander and Corey Williams

Now... let's review... what was the Packer's record last year???

And so... another day goes bye in the Brett Favre Soap Opera and the Consecutive Games Played Streak remains at 221.

Okay it's 9:34 Est as I start writing this and I'm currently watching the spectacle that is the BRETT FAVRE RETIREMENT / NON-RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT / NON-ANNOUNCEMENT PRESS CONFERENCE.

What a Joke!

* First off... Brett let stand the Associated Press Story that he'd make an announcement today.

* Then... they push the press conference back half an hour to 9am (est)

* Then... they waste 27 more minutes as the NFL Network brought us lovely images of people taping banners to the pillars and still setting up chairs and tables.

* Then Finally... Brett comes out and toys around with the media saying, "I wont say a thing." (laughter) First Question... Well????

* Then Brett announces... "I don't know yet."

It's now 9:41 am and the NFL is cutting away from this Non-Event

In summation... What... a Joke!!!

I can't believe Brett is pulling this crap. Either play or don't. It has now gone beyond rediculous! As I waited for the News Conference to begin... I got weird vibes both ways... that he'd play... and that he'd retire. And ya know what? It was Okay either way! I don't speak for all Packers fans (thank you Mr. Obvious) but I bet'ya I speak for alot of them when I write... It's Okay... It's Okay if you want to retire... you have nothing to prove to me or anyone else. You will always have a place in our hearts as "The Guy" who brought the Title back to Titletown. It's Okay if you want to retire... you have nothing to prove to the NFL about commissioning that bronze bust to placed in Canton. It's Okay if you want to retire... the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers last year and hopefully... he can play up to NFL standards in the near future. He we all understand rebuilding... alot of us die hards lived through the rebuilding of the 1970's... the 1980's... and part of the 90's. It's Okay if you want to play... Let's face it Packer Backers... when he's on... nobody... NOBODY is better in the NFL. He's not lost any of his skill... and is still the strongest armed "Gunslinger" out there! It's Okay if you want to play... I've no doubt alot of people are waiting your decision. Free Agents DO tend to want to go where they think they have the best shot at winning. With you as QB... they get a warm and fuzzy 'bout the Pack. It's Okay It's Okay It's Okay... JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY!!! You're saying "There's alot of time till the season starts." Is like Noah saying... "Hey... it's just a couple of drops of rain... we've got lot's of time to get the Wholly Mammoth's... Saber Tooth Tigers... and Dinosaurs on the Boat!"

I totally get the fact you've had a really rough go of it the past two years. Our prayers all went out to you and your family. And we all knew deep down inside you weren't ready to leave without giving it one more Super Bowl try. Heck... we were just 4th and 26 (that still hurts to type that) away from the NFC Championship a mere 3 years ago.

YeahYeahYeah...
I totally get the fact that "Management" let us down last year by letting 2/5ths of our O-line go. I'm thinking on a scale of 1 to 10 on the fun sack chart... that had to be a negative 47. So yeah I understand (to a point) your wanting to see if Double T loads up with some better players. I get it... I do.

YeahYeahYeah...
I totally get the fact that you've nothing to prove to the NFL... the city of Green Bay... Packer Nation... and especially me. Your bust is already on order for Canton. You are arguably (and I'll get to that) one of the top three quarterbacks evaaaah! Possibly the best!

Yet all that said... you are hurting us big time with this talk of mowing your grass instead of chopping up pieces of frozen tundra.

The Argument to Stay (Part One)

As I said before... it was only 3 seasons ago that we "Blew it" big time and missed out on the Championship game. Quite frankly if Sherman would have "grown a pair" he would have gone for it when it was 4th and 1 and Ahman was chewing up yards faster than an Eagle fan chews Philly cheese steaks.
Still... we were "that close".

Then the next year we actually improved as a team but failed to beat the Vikings for a third time in one year.

Last year... well last year sucked.
I'm over it... let's move on.

The fact remains... we are still just a couple Free Agents and recovered injuries away from being able to retake the Norris Division Title and then... give me #4 and I'll take my chances in the playoffs. Yes... I am delusional... and yes I concede that Double T hasn't shown any proclivity towards Free Agency (another blog for another day) and yes... if IFs and BUTs were Candy and Nuts... we'd all be in the Post season. But it could happen.

IT COULD HAPPEN DAMNIT!!!
Just give me that.

From a fan stand point...
And being realistic...

1) We don't stand a Wisconsin Snowball's chance in July of getting back to the playoffs this year. And from the way this off season is going (Jevon Walker -- Ryan Longwell -- Craig Noll) things aint looking up. Besides retaining our Free Agents... Double T has made (by my estimation) just 1 good Free Agent move in signing Pickett. Last I checked... he don't play Guard.

2) Your new coach Mike McCarthy is 6 years older than you and his NFL resume' is... shall we say spotty at best???

Time to grow up and sit in the "Big Boy" GM Chair and release Brett Favre.
