Canon Announces EOS 50D!

This is cool! And also soon after the release of the EOS 40D. I wonder if there are any steamed 40D photographers thinking they should have waited just a little longer! Although Canon claims the EOS 50D is not a replacement for the 40D.

Along with the EOS 50D, Canon also releases it's new consumer grade 18 - 200mm EF-S lens. I wonder if has the macro capabilities of the 18 - 55mm EF-S lens...

Passion Flower

A Purple Passion flower that will eventually grow into a Maypop!

"Passion" does not refer to love, but to the Christian theological icon of the passion of Christ on the cross. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spanish Christian missionaries discovered this flower and adopted its unique physical structures as symbols of Crucifixion. For example: the radial filaments which can number more than a hundred and vary from flower to flower represent the Crown of Thorns. The ten petals and sepals represent the ten faithful apostles. The top 3 stigmata represent the 3 nails and the lower 5 anthers represent the 5 wounds. The flower has been given names related to this symbolism throughout Europe since that time. In North America they are also called the Maypop, the water lemon, and the wild apricot (after its fruit).

My 1961 Chevrolet Apache 10 with the newer 1965 hood. Assuming I ever get it running, I will switch hoods back. I don't like seeing it without the correct hood!

Changing the donut gasket...

The other day I changed the donut gasket on my 1965 Chevrolet C10. (Although after I changed the donut gasket the exhaust leak only became worse due to a stripped bolt. Can anyone say infuriating?) Anyway, the silver donut gasket in the picture above is the new gasket I put in the truck. Beside it is the excuse for a donut gasket I removed from the truck. From the looks of it, it probably had not been replaced since 1965.

The 1965 GMC 3/4-ton (or 1-ton) truck that sits outside of Macon Road B-B-Q in Columbus, Georgia.

Cool truck! It's got a dump bed.

A lot of the 1960's GMC trucks were powered by GMC's giant 305 V6 engine. Really a cool engine, and apparently one that took a lot to kill, but horrible on gas!
