I've set this figure up to look at the distance with a sense of yearning, like she's looking for a higher purpose, even though the future is abstract and unknown she has the choice to hope for something better.

This portrait has a sort of religious quality, maybe its the posture of the figure or the little girl's face looking down that adds to the spiritual theme of the portrait, still I think maybe its just the purity of a child that emanates that religious/spiritual feel that I find very intriguing and challenging in my attempt to translate that on the canvas.

This still life composition was all about color and I was trying to capture all the color variables that drew my attention in the first place, from the warmer tones to the cooler violets, I really like how all these colors relate to each other and connect the whole piece together.

I find places like this in LA that look very unique, like stairs that connect the houses and even though they are outside there is a certain intimate element about them, since they are almost hidden if you just pass by and sometimes you won't even notice them, they way the sun lit this scene was pretty interesting so I had to get my brushes and get to work.

Well tomorrow is Earth Day and I thought that I should post a painting that celebrates our mother earth and all the fruits that she's been giving us unselfishly, I'm really grateful for that, hopefully we can raise the awareness of our unity and unseparateness with nature.

I wanted to convey a sense of anticipation in this piece with the female figure turned away from the viewer and at the same time I got a certain calmness with the colors that I used in the background which kinda balanced both feelings at the same time.

This pose was more dynamic since it anticipates movement and it created an interesting overall design in the painting, I like how the warm colors in the background worked out against the flesh tones of the reclining female nude.
