Hi All. So here we are at Macworld. Drove the whole way in fog and then it took an hour to find a parking space. So what's new?

The MacBook Air

Well, this is certainly the thinnest Mac Laptop I've ever seen. It's not really any more powerful than a MacBook but boy is it thin. There's no room for the superdrive (did I mention how thin it was?) so you have to buy an external one separately, so get ready to lug that along with you on your trip to the Caymans. It's going to cost you $700 more than a comparably equipped MacBook, plus the external Superdrive, but I gotta tell you, it's thin.

I gotta say, I don't get it. Really? $1799? Really. Just because it's thin? Ok, I guess. My vote for spokesperson? Paris Hilton.

Macworld Day 2

So we're back in the Microsoft Blogger Lounge and oh so glad to be here. We've decided that this Macworld in a lot of ways was really a yawn. (Not to the dopes who drove the stock up 12 points in two days) There IS the iPhone and the Apple TV, but we knew those were coming. No really surprises or anything that amazing. Although I guess the Apple TV is pretty cool. Just spoke to the guys standing around the new Airport Extreme base station. It DOES route appletalk wirelessly, so that's a good thing. I'm sure I'll be using that. Dinner with the guys was fun last nice and we enjoyed some great sushi. So now it's time to hop on I-5 and head on home. Maybe this will get me blogging a little more often. So stay tuned.

Macworld Baby

This place is huge!!! So there we are (me and Bill) walking around; our dogs barking when I spy the Microsoft Blogger Lounge (be sure to genuflect when you say that). So here we sit, checking our email, sipping free soda and generally relaxing safely behind curtained rods all in exchange for these entertaining words. So what have we seen?..... Obviously the iPhone is a big hit here. It's nice. It's really nice. It's so nice that one could easily dub it the greatest, most beautiful, multi-functional mobile phone the world has ever known. I on the other hand have a crappy old Nokia phone that makes and receives phone calls. The iPhone is $500. Need I say more? The AppleTV is pretty darn cool. It's a device that actually SOLVES a problem. How do I get all this video content that lives on my Mac and put it on my TV? Answer: AppleTV. It's $299 and probably well worth it. We'll be looking at that some more tomorrow. For Manco, I think Les might be interested in this website http://fastmac.com/ipodfaqs.php. Full instructions for changing the batteries and screens on different model iPods. Well, that's it for now. I guess I'll blog some more the next time we need to take a little break. See ya.

Domestic Life Part 1

Life isn't easy. Really. It's not. And kids tend to make it just that much harder. So we have to have our little distractions, for instance, a blog. Now I don't know if this blog will be the greatest thing ever, or just a whim that I abandon in a couple weeks, but it's an outlet. It's been suggested to me that blogs are a waste of time due to the fact that no one reads them. Like, who cares what YOU have to say? So I'm not going to worry about that. I'm going to write for me because dammit, I spend a lot of time in my car thinking about things and I'm always saying to myself, "why don't you write some of this stuff down". Well here it is baby. So in the coming weeks you can look forward to rants ranging from politics to raising kids to the 710 freeway extension. With Pictures!!!! Who could ask for more than that. Stay tuned.... if anybody's out there.

First Real Post

This is my first post on my "Blog". Pretty cool that I can just spew out anything I happen to be thinking and publish it in front of millions of people. Of course, like Michigan J. Frog, once the spotlight is on me, all I can say is...Ribbet. But I'm just getting the hang of it and trying to do something that will look pretty good and that people will enjoy. So stay tuned and maybe I'll write something of some value. Who knows?
