This is crazy! What difference does it make if a man has a female in his room, would a female get the same criticism if there were a male in a females room? This is being blown way out of control. This is a person whom we put our lives in there hands. We as volunteers put time and pride in emergency service and personally I think that's all that should matter.

What is everyone complaining about. You make this out to be a serious crime like arson. All he did is share a bed with a female. Heck at least he isn't gay. The question to ask - Did he miss a call or not respond to a fire due to the woman being there? If not, then drop this. It is hard enough to get personnel trained and have available to protect us during our time of need.

Come on guys, get off your high horses. We have all made dumb decisions throughout our fire department careers. Thats all this is a dumb decision. And as far as the "old timers" are these the same old timers who had cocktail time every evening? And finally you all should know what General Patton said about soldiers the same applies for firefighters

This seems to be the norm in the entire metro area. It's not just the District, it crosses the lines into Prince Georges also. It's more important to hire a quota than a qualified , reputable person who personafies the traditional dedicated responder of the past. Lack of control over the volunteers in P.G. and the employees in D.C. tarnish the entire Fire and EMS community.

You get what you hire, the more you hire the more trash you hire. Everydays a new adventure for DCFEMS. It has nothing to do with the leadership, it the hiring practice. The department lost the military style it carried in the previous years, now its kindercare.

This is very sad indeed. To think that a once great department that was built by men of courage and character has now been made a laughing stock by the actions of a few. Those "old timer's" are probably turning over in their graves. I guess integrity and pride don't mean anything anymore to some of the "new breed".
