Google with Larger Search Box Now

Google has made its search box larger than before. Google Marissa Mayer, Vice President, Search Products & User Experience just announced this last night that the search box's size was increased.

He added. "Although this is a very simple idea and an even simpler change, we're excited about it — because it symbolizes our focus on search and because it makes our clean, minimalist homepage even easier and more fun to use. The new, larger Google search box features larger text when you type so you can see your query more clearly. It also uses a larger text size for the suggestions below the search box, making it easier to select one of the possible refinements."

Don't know if you have seen the blogger's birthday logo on the blogger site or not? I just have noticed it by today only and that's inspired me making this post. Well! I am little late..no I am a lazy bone..

Blogger was released in August of 1999 and after that we have seen many changes yet in the blogger blog's customization and look & feel.

The Net is 40 years old now

For something that we cannot feel or see or realise, our World Wide Web (www) turns 40 years on September 2nd 2009 which born on 2nd Sept, 1969 at the University of California which has changed our thoughts and and our lives in ways we are only just beginning to realise. The internet truly shrunk the world, being the harbinger of an information evolution. Now, if we see Microsoft and Google has a big hand of support in our advancement through the internet in surfing the www plots and getting information through worldwide by web browsers.

This mode of connectivity was born at the University of California 40 years ago last week. And when was the first time it was attacked? In 1988, by 'Morris', one of the first internet worms which are the common thing in the web world now. Everyday we suffered through many malwares, trojans, viruses and worms online and in way to protect our desktops and laptops from these cruel online junks.

Anyways, but this www has change the world a lot - changes our thinking, get to know more about anything etc and its still in a way of advancement everyday.

Today is the great day - it is 400th anniversary of Great astronomer Galileo Galilei telescope which helped the astronomers to learn more about our solar system and universe.

Exactly 400 years ago today, on 25 August 1609, the Italian astronomer and philosopher Galilei Galileo showed Venetian merchants his new creation, a telescope – the instrument that was to bring him both scientific immortality and, more immediately, a whole lot of trouble.

Google have celebrated this occasion with the designing its logo with the Galileo fashion.

Microsoft join hands with Yahoo!

After long-drawn speculations, Yahoo! and Microsoft have come together to forge a formidable alliance in Internet search and advertising space that will challenge the dominance of market leader Google.

The ten-year agreement would see both the companies coming together in the search arena and sales activities related to search advertising.

"In simple terms, Microsoft will now power Yahoo! search while Yahoo! will become the exclusive worldwide relationship sales force for both companies' premium search advertisers," the two firms said in a statement.

As part of the deal, Microsoft would acquire an exclusive ten-year licence to Yahoo!'s core search technologies.

This would also allow the software giant to integrate Yahoo!'s search technologies into its existing platforms including Bing, Microsoft's newly launched search engine.

Yahoo! would be compensated by Microsoft through a revenue sharing agreement on traffic generated on Yahoo!'s network of both owned and operated and affiliate sites.

"Microsoft will pay traffic acquisition costs (TAC) to Yahoo! at an initial rate of 88 percent of search revenue generated on Yahoo!'s O&O sites during the first five years of the agreement," the statement noted.

Google has more than 60 per cent share in the search market. Since early 2008, Microsoft had been pursuing an alliance with Yahoo! and even came up with over USD 44 billion takeover plan, which did not materialise.

Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer said the agreement would provide Microsoft's search engine, Bing, the scale necessary to more effectively compete, attracting more users and advertisers.

Asserting that the partnership would provide a "viable alternative to advertisers," the statement said they would no longer have to rely on one company that dominates more than 70 per cent of all search.

Once the agreement is fully implemented, Yahoo! Expects that it would provide a benefit to annual GAAP operating income of about USD 500 million and capital expenditure savings of about USD 200 million.

Yahoo! anticipates that the pact would also result in a benefit to annual operating cash flow of nearly USD 275 million.

"This deal fits the long-term strategic direction of Yahoo! to remain the world's leading online media company and Carol Bartz has the full and unanimous support of the Yahoo! Board behind this deal," said Yahoo! Chairman Roy Bostock said.

Longest Solar Eclipse of the Century

India's got the longest solar eclipse of the century on Wednesday morning 22nd July, 2009 at a local sunrise point in the Arabian Sea close to the western coast of India near Surat in Gujarat.

Thousands of people, children and adults, thronged the sky watching sites across the country with their solar goggles to watch the eclipse. In India, the totality phase lasted for some 3 minutes 30 seconds and places like Surat in Gujarat, Indore and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Patna and Taregna in Bihar observed the total solar eclipse that occurred between 6:20 a.m. to 6:25 a.m.

But there are too many myths are also attached along with every eclipse in India yet like pregnant women were advised to stay indoors in curtained rooms over a belief that the sun's invisible rays would harm the fetus and the baby would be born with disfigurations, birthmarks or a congenital defect.

SEOs are basically link builders

SEO Optimization means promotion of a site through different methods including submissions in web directories, article submissions, press releases, internal linking management i.e. link building development of the site to get popularity in the web and to get more traffic for the site.

In this very regard, most of the time of SEO spend in building links that's basically SEO is all about even. And which is just not so easy. Building links can be easy but building good links are not an easy task for any link builder or SEO.

WE have to take care of -

Relevancy of the web page where we are submitting our site.
PageRank of the web page where we are placing our site link. It would be great if we got high PR than our site.
Indexing of the site - It should be regularly indexed by major search engines like Google, Yahoo! Search and Bing.

The above constraints are not so easy to check for an SEO noob and takes a proper analysis while taking / posting our link to get link popularity through search engines. And that can only be achieved by a Good SEO. That's only why I am saying it that most of SEOs are basically link builders.

Microsoft Live Search is now Bing.com has released on 3rd June, 2009.

Bing includes a set of navigation and search tools called an Explorer Pane on the left side of the page that offers a feature called Web Groups, which organizes search results not only in the pane but also in the actual results generated on the page. It is based on the semantic technology from PowerSet which Microsoft purchased in 2008.

Microsoft also has added Related Searches and Quick Tabs features, which provide a table of contents for different categories of search results.

Next feature called Best Match surfaces what the engine considers the best result for a search query and calls it out for the user. Another feature called Deep Links gives people more insight into what resources a site offers.

Bing also offers what is called Quick Preview, which gives a brief preview of search results in a box that appears when someone 'mouses' over the search results link. The preview gives a snapshot of the information the link provides so people can decide whether they want to click on it.

Need of Quality Backlinks and Traffic

Question : I have exchanged my site links with 30 websites but not getting any traffic and also not getting any exposure in search engine rankings too. What should I do?

Answer : It totally depend either they really are quality links or not. The page you have linked with having some traffic or not? and the relevancy factor ofcourse. The links you are linked with are relevant with your online business theme otherwise it's just useless to link with non-relevant sites.

As per google webmaster guidelines also, Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

Trying hard to get through the Professional Exams in commerce stream like Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary and Cost & Works Accountants? Results not behaving the way you want them to?

We all more or less do all this for clearing our examinations. Have we ever thought that why it happens that only VERY FEW of us get through the exams in the term we expect us to clear ESPECIALLY when we all put the same amount of hard work and attend the same coaching classes?

Seems like Google is updating its PageRank toolbar this 1st April 2009. Some of my sites got minor drop in the PR and which is also in the most webmaster's concern about the dropping of the PageRank of most of the websites.
