So, I'm not sure whether to be excited or disappointed, but I think I'm more excited than disappointed, because at least I got my foot in *a* door (the image above made it in) ... I got into AI-AP's website portion of the competition (I think 500 people got in... which is why I'm a bit dissapointed, but hey, something's better than nothing? Maybe this is a good thing?) On the bright side, because I (sorta) got into it... I do get an invite to the party? (yay!) So maybe i'll bump into some big-wig illustrators while I'm there. *feels smug*

Also! Going to have more art at Destination NY's gallery again! The opening is April 30th from 6 to 8 pm. I'm going to try my hardest to be there, but if you don't have anything to do, definitely swing by and say hello!

So... seiten... should be the BEST invention of the century... you can offically call me addicted... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm gluten... ... only because I hate it when people on the train look over my shoulder when I draw... so I end up rotating my sketchbook to the least drawn on area of the spread... and covering the rest with my arm... not sure if that's the best way to do it, but it makes it easier for me to ignore idle eyes... :D

I've also gotten into the habit of scanning my sketchbook pages pre-maturely... Like the last post of my sketchbook... has a bunch of other sketches on it now... hmm...

...every where you look around... ! ...blah blah blah, and however else the song goes... This new piece is about 17" x 18"... started in acrylic and ink, and finished on the computer.

And in other news... I've been getting into vegan/raw food lately and... who knew it tasted so good?!?! There were things that tasted like milk and ice cream that had no milk or butter or ANYTHING in it!! Crazyyyy....!! I love it! Any who, here are some more sketchbook pages... I still can't believe I paid so much for my new sketchbook this time. Do not... I repeat... DO NOT buy moleskin sketchbooks from Utrecht... Save yourself the $5 and get it at Barnes and Noble!

I've been pretty busy ( I swear!! ). Proof can be seen in my studio/living room... (yeah, I know, I know... I need to get a real studio space... )

And here's another preview of something else... Yes, another crappy phone pic, but... its just enough to get you wanting to see more, right....? ...There's a fly in my eye! (I think that's how it goes?... or maybe it's something more along the lines of 'pie'?)

I've been drawing a million thumbnails for the past two months, but one finally made it to a finished piece. This one's 100% paint/ink with no digital ... I know I said I'd lay off the pretty ladies, but once again, I could not resist! After getting a mani-pedi for the first time (heh, I'm very un-lady-like, I KNOW...) I was inspired by all the pink furniture, wallpaper, and uniforms... I had to create a *really* girlie piece... ! And so, *drum rolls* .... here it is!

Here's the newest piece that I've declared to be the last of the 'Distressed' series, but also the beginning of a new technique process! :) I've been focusing on a relationship themed work based on stories that I've heard from different women in my life, and I think it's about time to change the subject matter a bit! (Finally!) Detail shots below. For my next few pieces I want to focus more on everyday life scenes, and try to leave out the people a little bit ... we'll see how that goes at least (I have such an addiction for drawing those ladies!)

So, here's a new project I started... It's called, find whatever silver /faux silver things I can get at the thrift store and paint on them. I've always wanted to do something with them... just never knew what...!

Also visited a tattoo shop for the first time (well not really, but my first time getting one at least!) I got one of my drawings done... I had a great experience, and I'm extremely happy about how it came out:

I got the suggestion from Gant to distort my figures more ... and i ended up doodling the cute little character below...

I started painting again! :) I bought some old stuff from the thrift store to paint on... and so far so good! I'll post more pictures of the inprogress stuff in a bit.

(although here's one of the non-thriftstore canvas peek below:)

PS. I turned a huge pumpkin into a cute little pie this weekend! :) Tasty!

The second show with 6 of my prints (and two paintings) opened tonight! It was another group show that opened in the Destination gallery ( at 34 Little West 12th St, New York, NY - 1st floor) It's up for the rest of November ... so make sure to take a look before it comes down!
