New Library Policies Announcement

Starting today, October 1, the number of items you can reserve with your library card is reduced to 5. Available reserves will be held for 7 days. Those of you who have more than 5 will not lose your outstanding requests. However, you will not be able to place any new holds until your number of requests is below 5.

Also on October 1, the Osceola Library System will no longer print and mail out notices for reserved and overdue items.

The Osceola Library System encourages customers to receive notices about their Library Account by email, phone, or by viewing accounts online.

Customers will receive an email or phone notice for:

HOLDS: The Library will email or phone when reserved items are available for pickup.
OVERDUES: The Library will email or phone when items are more than 30 days overdue.

To check your account online, go to My Account on the website. Your USER ID= 13 digit number located under the barcode on your library card. Your PIN= the default is "changeme," and may be changed using the User PIN Change option.

If you want to change your notification status to Email or Phone, fill out the form on the bottom of this page.

Volunteer at Your Local Library

Volunteers are always needed, and appreciated, in various areas of the Library. Volunteers play an important role as partners in the Library's mission and helping to enrich the customer's enjoyment of the Library. We look forward to having you join us!

Example of ways to volunteer:

Shelving and arranging books
Provide basic training and user assistance for public computer resources
Assist youth services during programs
Outreach/Special Programs and Events

Other opportunities to volunteer are also available through the Friends of the Public Library.

Becoming a Volunteer:

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Please fill out the Osceola County Volunteer Application and return the form to your nearest library or mail it to:

If you appear to meet the job requirements, your application will be given to a Staff Supervisor who will contact you to set up an interview.

New Netlibrary Media Center

The NetLibrary, the place where Library customers can find downloadable audiobooks, is offering a new product called a Media Center. It is a free application that you can download and install on your computer that makes it easier for you to listen to the eAudiobooks from the NetLibrary. The Media Center will now download and transfer your audiobooks to your portable listening devices with just one click.

Parents' Night Out

It's a Dog Day afternoon in the Library! Read to Cassie and Januz, big lovable pups who love listening to a good story! Graduates of the R.E.A.D. program, Reading Education Assistance Dogs, Cassie and Januz and their handlers have been certified in pet therapy. Parents need to sign a release form, and pre-registration is strongly encouraged as spots are limited.
