Tenille's bike : The Guardian

Tenille had emailed Shawn in Las Vegas; she had seen his work and knew that she wanted him to paint her bike. After reading the first letter, Shawn knew that Tenille had put a lot of thought into what she wanted. Every bit of the paint represents something to Tenille; from her family and her life with them and Shawn thought it was a really cool idea. She was ready to mail the parts to Las Vegas, but it just so happened that Shawn was driving through Kansas one week after the email, so Darryl, Tenille's husband, disassembled the bike and met Shawn on the interstate on his way to Illinios, where he does his summertime shows. This is the first project of the summer, and these photos speak for themselves; taking you from prep to completion.

Tenille had given Shawn lots of artistic freedom. It was Shawn's idea to put a gargoyle on the rear fender, watching her back.

The front fender was going to be lettering, but since there's so much detail on the rest of the bike, he decided to put gargoyles on it, fading up to match the theme of the bike.

Tenille was specific about having a deep, deep purple, and Shawn went one step further, adding pearl...No sissy colors!

Shawn liked the idea of gargoyles so much, that he just stuck with that theme throughout every part, including a gargoyle guarded castle on the tank. And of course, the lettering in the center, which reads "THE GUARDIAN".

Berto's Beach Cruisin

When working on Robert's beach cruiser A.K.A Berto to his friends and family, we could not get the image of cruisin' on a distant beach while drinking some beers.

Joe Angel's Hotrod

Here we have Joe Angel busy custom designing jewerly in his shop. The guy is incredible at his craft as he can create pin striping at such a fraction of the scale no larger than the size of a pencil tip on a ring. A true master of his trade.

During the week he works hard creating memorable works of jewerly but on the weekends he likes to play with his toys. Like this 1937 Chevy Sedan. When it came time to put the same level of detail into his hot rod that he consistantly provides for his own clients he contacted Shawn Ealy.

Shawn produced the graphics on the side and Joe was excellent enough to turn Shawn loose in the creation of the artwork and choice of styles.

The artwork on the side brings out the contours of the sedan and accents the full length of the body.

But when Shawn finished working the sides he was pleased that Joe really let him go wild in pin striping the hood and rear trunk of the Sedan.

Terence Guzman's Bike

To celebrate going to Top Fuel from alchohol racing Terence Guzman & Paul Crifasi decided to celebrate with a custom stripe job on Terence's new bike. They have been racing for years and decided to do a little something special to Terence's new toy. Shawn has painted racing helmets for Terence in the past while he was still racing alchohol cars. In the background you can see Paul's racer being worked on.

Something with a bit of hawaiian flavor to start it off..

Followed by a nice island tribal inspired designed warrior's helmet on the rear fender..

To finish our 4 part series in SED's painting of the Robert Taylor mural we bring you the conclusion with an image of what Shawn love the most, returning to a school he once attending when he was a child and giving back.

"Shawn poses with the children on Career Day"

To inspire the children to diversity he even put on a small gallery showing of his fine art pieces to show that in any career you can do many things.

A new refreshing image of their school mascot now peers from over head inside the school lunch room.

With a feeling of pride it is Shawn's hope that he not only leaves the school with a beautiful piece of artwork, but a sparked sense of hope in the generations to come to reach for their dreams.

Keith's Tradewind

Keith Murray wanted something with a bit of flair on his RV. So when he approached SED he was quite pleasant in having Shawn pick out a mixtures of pearls to set off the graphics. Here you can see all the before and after images of the project.

Cherry Hill

Lead guitarist Matt James stopped by the other day for a little custom work on his axe. You can catch him playing with his band Cherry Hill on June 13th at Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock Casino of Las Vegas NV. It will be worth your wild as these guys have been rock'in for over 15 years.

SED at Robert Taylor (Part 3)

To continue our day one reports of Shawn painting at Robert Taylor Elementary in Henderson, NV. we come back to even more brush work on the giant cat's fur.

But when we pull back our photos reveal just how massive this art piece really is.

Layer by layer from white to orange the dense fur begins to build up.

Then to offset the darker tones strokes of a lighter cream pigment are added to touch off the piece.

With hundreds of happy kids, gallons of paint, and one dead camera battery day one is off to a great start. Still more to come when Shawn returns with his airbrush.

No sooner than the last post was made was the pace of this mural picked up.

Shawn quickly begins laying down a serious of whites and orange strokes to bring in the giant cats fur.

Stroke by stroke by line the furious feline comes into view.

Today we are posting to you live from Robert Taylor Elementry. A recent mural project has just began for a Tiger to come to life in the school's lunch room.

Shawn begins setting up his scaffold

It takes no time at all before Shawn is suddenly swarmed with curious onlookers.

The Grim Repo

Back again is the finished photos of Glen's Grim Repo, a boat we featured a few weeks ago.

Photos can not do this boat justice with the detail work that flows throughout the craft.

At first glance the side graphics reveal even more customization upon closer examination.

From checkers to tribal stroke Shawn topped it off with barb wire that awards the viewer when viewing this boat up close.

What more could a custom paint job ask for besides a hot image of death itself dealing its own deck of cards?

To finalize the paint job is the boat's name to stare at the unexpected victims caught in this water craft's wake.

Expensive Toys

Leo is the proud owner of this very expensive toy. He races these models on occasion at Sunset Park and wanted something that would turn some heads.

Shawn had a lot of fun working on this boat and can appreciate that it was all hand made.

A large detailed paintjob that more than makes up for the size of this small water craft.

A name that is justified...

Glen's Killer Watercraft

Glen is the mastermind behind "The Boat Project". This is the closest before picture you will see before it hits the paint.

Glen brought the boat to Shawn to create the incredible design that will be the attitude of this amazing craft.

Shawn pays amazing attention to detail as he begins to create..like the checkered flags and the rows of dollar signs that highlight the area as the boat fades from orange to yellow.

Although it already looks detailed this is just the first phase of the art.

Sin City Z Club

Dan is a member of the Sin City Z club and decided to stop by Shawn's shop for a very detailed hood mural.

After Shawn finished the mural he desided to set off the work with some fine yellow, red, and orange pinstriping.

Milner Helmet

Tim Burns is a Clark County firefighter, who Shawn has previously done work for. He brought in a welding helmet for Shawn to airbrush for his nephew, Brandon Milner, who lives in Thompson Falls, Montana. Brandon is starting college and will be studying diesel mechanics and welding. Tim is giving the helmet as a gift for him to use, and also as a means of inspiration.

Tim's idea of the metal plate effect ties in Brandons interests along with the Mopar emblem.

Shawn personalized the helmet for Brandon by including his last name on the front.

Shawn finished the paint job with flames on the sides.

Karla wanted to do something unique and very different for her son's birthday, so she had Shawn Ealy airbrush a very detailed mural on a 4ft x 8ft illustration board. The mural includes his interest in skateboarding along with a 'hip hop' city in the background.

Red Rock Hummer Continued

You may remember our friends, Mr. and Mrs. Menschel, who own the Red Rock Edition Hummer, which Shawn airbrushed. They came back to see Shawn in November to have him airbrush the tire cover on their Hummer.

The small mural includes a sunset behind Las Vegas with the many lights illuminated.

Woolf Bike

Bill brought in another bike for Shawn to paint. As mentioned before, Bill is the owner of the magazine called "Luv 2 Bike".

The frame is competely stripped, and Shawn is sanding it, preparing for the primer.

Next, Shawn sprayed the primer, and will begin the painting process.

Now, Shawn is seen lettering the 'Luv 2 bike' logo in black, red, and white.

Since Bill's last name is Woolf, he asked Shawn to include a wolf to personalize his bike. Shawn is airbushing a wolf, howling at the moon.

Caleen's Rhino

Caleen brought in her rhino for Shawn to paint. Her request was for the paintjob to be unisex. Together they decided on a tribal design, surrounded by a sheet metal effect, and a lace pattern.

After the rhino parts were sanded and primered, Shawn spent hours laying out the tribal design and taping it.

After it was all taped up, Shawn sprayed purple and used cellophane to create a marble effect inside of the tribals.

Then, Shawn used black pinstripes to outline the tribals.

The next step was the sheet metal effect. After Shawn finished that, he airbrushed hibiscus flowers and a lace pattern. He finished with a small pinstripe design.

Shawn used the same process for the side panels and the tailgate, beginning with the marbelized tribal design, and finishing with the sheet metal, hibiscus and lace pattern, and a small pinstripe design. Then, he added the finishing highlights, using brown.
