ATIF ASLAM Getting Offers To Act In Bollywood

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, who crooned his way into the hearts of Indians with Bollywood songs, has revealed he has acting offers from the industry and is open to them. “Artists don’t belong to any nation,” he says.

“I would like to act in a Bollywood film. It’s not my forte, but I want to give it a try,” Atif Aslamsays He is appreciated not just for his singing abilities but also for his suave looks and style statement.

“I have various offers from Bollywood but nothing has been finalised. I am reading scripts at the moment. Once something is finalised, I will make an official announcement,” he added.

Atif Aslam gained popularity in Pakistan with his band “Jal”. He made his presence felt in India with the song “Aadat” in the film “Kalyug”. He became a name to reckon with, delivering hit songs like “Woh lamhe” from the film “Woh Lamhe”, “Pehli nazar mein” from “Race” and “Bakhuda” from “Kismat Konnection”.

“Music is an art form that has no boundaries. Artists don’t belong to a nation; they should be free to work wherever they want to,” ATIF ASLAM said.

However, the singer has kept his Indian assignments limited. When asked for the reason, the 26-year-old said he believes in quality rather than quantity.

“I have always focussed on quality work and not quantity. I am not singing just for money and fame. I am singing for myself because I like it. Thus, selecting a few but nice songs was a conscious effort. The lyrics of a song are very important to me,” he said.

Atif Aslam also revealed he had never planned to sing in Indian films, but it just happened.

“Bollywood just happened to me. I had not planned it this way. I was quite successful in Pakistan; so I started getting offers from the Hindi film industry too. I like singing in Indian films because you get a lot of exposure here. You get to learn many things,” he said.

The singer has sung two songs – “Tera hone laga hoon” and “Tu Jaana na” – in the romantic comedy “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”.

Talking about the success of “Tera hone laga hoon”, which has been picturised on Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, Atif Aslam said: “While singing the song, I never thought that the song would become such a big hit. It’s all because of the blessing of god that most songs I sing become hits.”

“I didn’t make any changes to my singing or any other efforts to sing this song. Just that I thought about my first love while crooning this number. It gave me the same kick,” ATIF ASLAM added.

The Prelims at Strawberry Fields 2009 will be held over two days – the 20th and the 21st of November. The top five bands will be selected to play at the Finals, which will be held on the 22nd of November.

You have an option of registering as either a Semi Pro band or a college band. These categories shall be judged together, with the only difference being that only college bands are eligible for the best college band prize…

GOWRI Wins THE RESONATE MUSIC AWARD 2009

Gowri, a solo artist from Pune, India has won the inaugural Resonate music award. The unanimous choice of the judges (Nolan Lewis, Sahil Makhija, Chris Avinash and Deepak Rao), Gowri wins recording time for a full-length album at Christortion, the music studio owned by Chris Avinash.

Along with the studio time, Gowri will also receive support and guidance to market the finished album and ensure it reaches her target audience. This also includes a 30% discount from Furtados for future musical equipment purchases.

Two other artists, Guillotine from New Delhi and Dark Horizon from Assam receive special mention and the support of The Resonate Music Award. Details of this support are being worked out but will involve a combination of cash prizes, discounts for musical equipment and possible recording support to help them in their music endeavours.

Deepak, the founder of The Resonate Music Award said “We couldn’t have asked for a better start to The Resonate Music Award – we received phenomenal interest, with 40 bands all over the country submitting entries. The Fuel Great Indian Rock is back this year, larger and louder than ever before. The festival goes truly national this year with Big Gigs in 7 of India's most prominent cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Shillong, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. An expected audience of 50,000 is anticipated this year as juxtaposed to 6000 to 7000 in the previous years. This is a huge step for The Fuel Great Indian Rock festival, and with this move; the festival aims to cement its place as the biggest rock festival in India.

The video comes from the CD+DVD "Nirvana Live At Reading," which hits stores November 17th, with the CD only version arriving on November 3rd. Often heralded as one of the greatest Nirvana performances of all time, the gig featured front man Kurt Cobain rocking out in a hospital gown.
