Rem Lezar comes straight from the Lost Media Archive to you... That is if you choose to show up. Our July 19th Audience will get an eyeful of blue mullets and bad spandex costumes and an earful of bizarre music. This event will also feature live music by YOUR LITTLE PONY, and a couple of weird snickers commercials, that, along with "Rem Lezar" define the career of one very fine actor...

Here is a synopsis:

Zack gets in trouble during class for daydreaming about a superhero named Rem Lezar, and is sent to the principal's office. After a discussion about his classroom behavior, he storms out upset that no one understands him and that he isn't the problem but that the adults are. Later in art class, Zack sculpts a model of Rem Lezar, of which Ashlee notices and has also dreamed about and has drawn a picture of. Ashlee is the first person to believe that Rem Lezar is more than imaginary, but she will not speak to Zack as long as he keeps up his sexist attitude. The two decide to bring Rem Lezar to life. That day, the two obtain a male mannequin, though by what means is not explained, and dress it up like Rem Lezar. Rem Lezar hears their desires and comes to life most unexpectedly. He can live but one single day unless they find the Quixiotic Medallion, which has the power to keep Rem alive. The fear-mongering face, Vorock, tells them it is hidden at the height of imagination and that some never find it in the course of their entire lifetime. The three must search for the medallion, but do not know where to look. Zack believes that it would be at the top of the Twin Towers, whereas Ashlee believes it to be in the mountains. They search both locations with no luck, only to discover that the highest point of imagination is love.

... WE PROMISE THAT IF YOU LIKED TURKISH STAR WARS, THE STAR WARS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, OUR ABOMINIBLE SELF-HELP VIDEOS AND ALL THE OTHER WIERD STUFF WE HAVE SHOWN YOU AT OUT/EX.... YOU'LL HATE THIS!... ACTUALLY, YOU'LL LOVE TO HATE IT... YOU'LL LOVE IT. ...We love it. …and so will you.

This event is free!

Where: No Brow (315 E. 300 S.) As far as I know this has been the only radio in the world dedicated completely to Outsider/Incorrect Music, since in the death of Incorrect Music @ WFMU, and The Outsider Music Hour on KWCR.

The main reason the show is being taken down is due to a lack of $$$ this year.

The show will be completely off the air after May 2. The true "fringe" films, the one-of-a-kind art films, experimental films and avant-garde wonders that bear no commercial potential, but are beautiful and unique and stunning in their vision... Of course, these are few and far between, and one normally has to sit through about ten or eleven bad films at Sundance to discover that one gem of experimental cinema.

OUR SOLUTION:
Attend the January screening of OUT/EX!
OUT/EX is a local film series devoted to all genres of fringe filmmaking. Each month we hand-select film and video works that would, quite literally, never be shown in any local theatres. On January the 19th, OUT/EX presents THERE IS NO NO, a collection of experimental films from the Free Form Film Festival (see freeformfilm.org). This stunning selection of experimental shorts is as good that of any film festival and we invite YOU to escape your Sundance woes by attending this FREE, LOCAL, and INSPIRING exhibit of true experimental genius from around the world.

Local filmakers Jan Andrews and Tyrone Davies will be in attendance.

event details:
when: Saturday, January 19th 7pm
where: NoBrow Coffee and Tea (315 E. 300 S.) I got shot with a bullet, video 16 min.
by Alec Cohen
----Years after being accidentally shot in downtown Manhattan, Alec Cohen
has retreated to Portland, OR to escape the danger of his past. Now,
equipped with $50 and some newfound courage, Alec and his near-silent,
12-year old best friend Raymond are on a quest to buy a gun. I Got Shot
with a Bullet investigates Pop-Culture American Manhood and its
relationship to violence. He is from Long Island, NY and is inspired by
nonsense and important social issues.
www.sandymontana.com <http://www.sandymontana.com/>

5. Neuro-Economy
----Created by Jill Kennedy
“Neuro Economy” is a short animated film to a real audio recording found
on a telephone answering machine.
Set in a composite domestic setting of both past and present a recorded
message starts to play back on a telephone answering machine in the
living room. An anonymous caller from 21 years ago describes himself.
The caller goes on to explain a Neuro Economy and details his plans for
a Quantum Computer Emulator. The message continues to diverge further
and further from reality. Animated graphics sourced from learning
material of the 1960’s and 70’s begin to appear, eventually taking over
the living room as we glimpse a cross section of reality as perceived by
the anonymous caller.
Jill Kennedy was born 1981 in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1982 her family
moved to Auckland, New Zealand. God Provides, video 9 min
----by Brian Cassidy and Melanie Shatzky
Shot in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and bound by
elements of fiction, this unexpected documentary short is a glimpse into
faith-based sentiment and inexplicable loss in the American South. While
a man searches for his kitchen appliances in the bushes, elsewhere a
grinning preacher takes souvenir snapshots for his congregation, and a
woman with a disability journeys to a quieter place.
Brian M. Cassidy (b. 1977, Poughkeepsie, USA) and Melanie Shatzky (b.
1976, Montreal, Canada) met in 2004 in New York City and shortly
thereafter began collaborating on both narrative and documentary films.
The duo have shown their work at the Sundance Film Festival, the
Rotterdam International Film Festival, Silverdocs, South by Southwest
(SXSW), the Kunsthalle Wien, and the European Media Art Festival (EMAF).
Their short fiction, The Delaware Project, was nominated for a Tiger
Award at Rotterdam, and won the 2007 EMAF Award at the European Media
Art Festival. They were recently profiled in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New
Faces of Independent Film.
Cassidy and Shatzky’s work often forgoes conventional storytelling
methods in order to accommodate stark imagery, elusive characters, a
deadpan realism, and has been described by Glenn Kenny of Premiere
Magazine as “cogent and sickly surreal”. In 2005, they founded their
production company, Pigeon Projects, which continues to develop and
evolve as an outlet for their personal work as well as a commercial
studio. Both Cassidy and Shatzky hold MFAs in Photography, Video &
Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
www.pigeonprojects.com <http://www.pigeonprojects.com/>

8. The Journal of John Magillicutty 2006 dv [2:20]
“Strenuous but an intermission...”
---- Michael Paulus (PDX)
Michael Paulus is an artist living in Portland Oregon. The marriage of
science and art play prominently in his work, often times creating
objects that are inherently misguided or dysfunctional in design. A
parody of types on the sometimes absolute efficiency and logic that we
come to expect from tools and technology.
The figures in his moving image work are usually ‘specimens’ to be
observed and usually find themselves in absurd situations they are ill
adept to comprehend.
In his static work often times there is an interchange between object
and viewer. Sometimes testing the perceptions of the viewer and often
times using an established medium or tool/design and tweaking it a bit
to put it in a critical context
www.michaelpaulus.com <http://michaelpaulus.com/>

9. Whether automatic
writing, sculpting, animating, photographing, drawing, or moshing media
interactively mixed media artist Kiri Hargie collages the minutiae of
the extraordinary ordinary. The dark birds in
turn point her to the practice of counting crows, which is both a
children's rhyming game and a form of divination in which the number of
crows suggests events in the future. Eight crows auger death: nine crows
reference a secret. Renwick combines these fragments with glimpses of
imagery- a bed, the crows captures as silhouettes, a man's twisted body
- to craft a lyrical and moving essay that works its magic through
poetic accretion rather than narrative logic."

-Holly Willis, L.A. Starting tomorrow and continuing for the next three weeks we have set up three truly exceptional events that we hope you can all make it out to. Here they are:

EVENT #1 (SAT AUG 11)
--------------------------------------
TROLL 2! CAST/DIRECTOR PRESENT! A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
As many of you now know, the LMA's founder Blair Sterrett was highly instrumental in getting this whole "Troll 2-mania" thing going. We at the Archive are quite proud of the fact that the Lost Media sponsored Troll 2 reunion party that Blair organized last year catalyzed a film tour that has sold out theatres across the country. If you want to know what all the fuss is about, then we recommend you go to this web address for a channel 2 news story:

http://kutv.com/video/?id=27683@kutv.dayport.com

TRUST US, YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS!
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
AUGUST 11 AT THE TOWER THEATRE IN SALT LAKE CITY AT 10:30PM

TROLL 2 ORIGINAL FILM PRINT SCREENING (until this tour, the film has never shown in US theatres) AND CAST REUNION

MOST MAJOR CAST MEMBERS AND THE FILM'S DIRECTOR WILL BE PRESENT!

EVENT #2 (SAT AUG 18)
----------------------------
OUT/EX PRESENTS PORTRAITS AND LANDSCAPES!
FILM WORKS BY CHAD GOOCH!
--------------------------------------------------------
The Free Form Film Festival, Loaf-I Productions, Trasa Urban Arts Collective, and NoBrow Coffee and Tea present yet another evening of fringe filmmaking on Saturday August 18th (just the day after Gallery Stroll).

The August screening of OUT/EX will be FREE as always and will take place at Nobrow Coffee and Tea (315 E. 300 S.) _in Salt Lake City. It will begin at 8:30pm

PORTRAITS AND LANDSCAPES, (this August screening) consists entirely of experimental film by local Filmmaker Chad Gooch. Gooch's work ranges from innovative landscape interpretation to "up-close-and-personal" type documentaries. Several brand new and unseen works from this filmmaker will grace the screen on the 18th.

Chad Gooch has been a long-time participant in the SLC film and arts community. In 2004, he presented “The Lab” , A three-day exhibit of Avant-Garde film at the City Library and Broadway Cinemas. He has directed many films in and around Utah as well as many other US states.

It's not often that one gets to see personal and homegrown film works such as those made by Chad Gooch. OUT/EX is a monthly film series that brings work to audiences in Salt Lake that would never bee seen otherwise. Come and check out some new and refreshing film and video!

EVENT #3 (FRI AUG 24 )
-----------------------------
THE LOAF SHOW! Saturday the 16th, starts at 8:30pm. location: No Brow Coffee and Tea (315 E. 300 S. Salt Lake City). ADMISSION IS FREE!

On Saturday, June 16th, Loaf-i Productions, the Free Form Film Festival, the Lost Media Archive, and Trasa Urban Arts Collective all band together to present one of the most exciting OUT/EX programs so far this year! This program is called ONE FRAME AT A TIME, and is an homage to the filmstrip! Do you remember the filmstrips you saw as an elementary school student? Your teacher would advance the frame with each beep of the cassette tape (or record)... you would draw pictures on your school desk in the dark... and the filmstrip would drone on about the merits of hygiene, or reading, or manners, etc...
Well... Brooklyn filmmaker, composer, and furniture-maker Brian Dewan has created a good number of his own filmstrips... Educational?... Maybe. Funny?... definitely!. Twisted?... ABSOLUTELY!
Dewan has had many exhibitions at Brooklyn's super-hot "Pierogi" gallery and even more exhibitions at film fests and arts events across the world. On June 16th, we will show several of Dewan's best odes to the filmstrip, ...and just to send you back to those days when you daydreamed your education away, SLC's own LOST MEDIA ARCHIVE will present a hand-full of REAL and TRULY BIZARRE filmstrips from bygone decades

SANDWITCH DVD-ZINE RELEASE PARTY!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_-gkv1Of2mMI/RliAEOwYRqI/AAAAAAAAAAw/g5TKcb31Prs/s320/forsitew.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5068942190774339234" />

MAY 29th @ 7:00pm @ Kilby Court (730 S. 330 W.
