Thanks, Jason... I think we're going to go with the old fashioned kind, since the reviews on the electronic ones are mixed and I think the girls will find them more fun, both more impressive to look at and easier to share. Then I can prepare myself to turn into my mother, shouting "keep that noise down!!"

I think it's really all a matter of preference for you first and foremost and then the girls. With the electric ones, I would read any reviews you can find to see how kids the same age as yours like them. Once you have all the info on the electronic ones and it's still a toss up, I'd just ask the kids which ones they think they'd like better.

Kid Music question for you... my girls want drums for Christmas. I was originally going to ask Santa for an electronic drum set with headphones that we could hook into an amp when we wanted to hear them. But then I thought maybe the old fashioned 7 piece real drum set would have more kid appeal for the Butter Bites, even if the sound from the basement gave mom & dad headaches from time to time. Price point is about the same...around $200.

Do you have any thoughts?
