Don't remove it. You have a right to post whatever you want. The same people that are asking you to have respect for someone else's famly that you don't even know, do the same to other families and probably don't even realize it themselves. It's very sad that he took his own life. I do not think that the record of his mistake should be erased from the internet though.

If anything, through his humiliation he might be teaching other people one thing or two about the consequences of our actions.

True, it is sad that one mistake might follow you forever, but this is the world we live in. I am sure that if he really was a Christian, he was able to appreciate the invaluable lesson he gave the rest of us.

I feel deeply for the family of Paul Kelly Tripplehorn and anyone else in their shoes. My mother took her own life 21 years ago. It is one of the hardest things a person can live through. Placing blame is one of the easiest ways to cope. I still find myself trying to figure out why. Most often, we will never know their pain, never get answers to burning questions.

I believe, with all my heart, Paul has a lesson to teach.

To the family: let the blog stay, with your wishes. Fact is, it happened and connot be reversed. I think someday you work through the intense confusion/hurt/anger. May you hope that others will learn from Paul's mistake. People will see the complete ignorance of some of the above statements.

I think Paul could have much done worse than a heated, threatening e-mail.

And for the people putting down the family & friends...the family & friends are going through an awful hard time, the stigma/shame of suicide, lots of questions, & lack of answers. Right now and for a long, long time they will probably feel blogs like these are pouring salt in their wounds and Paul's. Wouldn't you stick up for your loved ones, dead or alive? They can't chane what happened, but they can try to change the blogger's mind. Give them time, not smart remarks. Isn't there any consideration for what others are going though? No one should feel the answer is to take their own life. Not Paul, not even you. You never know until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes...you can't even imagine how you would feel, this is stuff that happens to other people. Not me. Well, one day it might happen to you. People are cruel and say the harshest things.

My mother's birthday would be tomorrow, in less than half and hour, ironically enough. Happy Birthday Mom! I miss you tremendously. My birthday wish for you is I hope you found peace. Paul, I hope you did too. And your family and friends.

Why should someone not be held accountable for his actions just because he's dead? And yes, we do all make mistakes. We're all, in various degrees, held accountable. Committing suicide won't make the facts any less the facts.

And furthermore, keeping this up might serve as a cautionary tale to others in the position to screw up like this. Who knows? Reading this might result in someone stopping and thinking before they hit that send button...and might just save embarrassment, ridicule or even a life.

I don't think anyone really needs to come to anyones' defense here. They just need to look at things plainly and honestly.

I don't think you were over the top. The stuff you posted before you knew he was dead was simply a bit snarky, at worst. The young mans friends are distraught as so many are when a mentally ill friend or relative dies like this. I think that the best thing for them would be to speak openly about both his painful behavior and the times that caused them to
love him.
Having worked with, known and loved some very difficult mentally ill people I think this is the best way to remember him, increase understanding, and maybe generate a little compassion. Not just for Mr.Tripplehorn, but for all of us. Life is rough and getting rougher and who among us can claim to be completely sane, 24/7?
As for the self righteous idiots making ignorant comments about karma, I would take those and aim them right back at them.

Jason, no one is attacking you. I will leave my email on this post that you might like to talk... I would love to talk and have no animosity towards you or what you do. However, as you are very correct that this will be a tidbit on the internet forever, I believe it would simply be a strong gesture to simply remove all material regarding Kelly out of sheer respect for the family and friends. I know you have the right to freedom of speech and no one here can take that from you, but as you said above you have yourself battled with depression, Kelly was bi-polar and lost a battle with the most intelligent person I knew. I dont mean for this to be attacking, I am asking... pleading... that you help us in making sure Kelly is remembered for the great things he did later in his life rather than an email to an ex. Please sir, consider removing things about Kelly, help make a statement that although we have the right to say whatever we want, we also live in a country of genuinely good people and people will ultimately appreciate a gesture like removing the email.

I know this has become a little longwinded and I apologize, but seriously consider it... even if just for a moment, put yourself in the shoes of those closest to Kelly while you are making your decision. He really was a great man and everyone should remember the good things about him, not the bad, and this decision could help in that process..
