I don't really follow the debates let alone watch them, but I would think that the parties have each been having the same amount of debates. Last night's dem debate just got a mjor press boost because of the YouTube novelty factor. With CNN picking the questions, it was just a dressed up town hall debate, and I'd think the republican version is going to be coming soon.

I don't know about this childcare credit, but as a fairly new parent, it's something I think I should definitely educate myself on. It's not going to get me to vote republican (honestly, there's very little that could ever get me to do that), but definitely something that would get me to write my reps.

I was thinking the other day... there are so many Democratic debates right now and so little Republican. I wondered if that was b/c the country is already saying a democrat will get in.

My vote is undecided. But all I know is that I can't afford to pay another 6k a year in taxes, and that is what would happen if the Dems take away our childcare credits. If they promised not to do that...they might get a lot more of the swaying republican votes.

I'm not going to be a big fan of any republican candidate, especially during the primaries when it's all about them playing to the base. On the inverse, it's during primary season that I get excited about the democratic candidates only to be later disappointed. I don't think there's anything particularly special about Romney, though I do think that the more people learn about the history of the LDS church, the weaker his chances are going to get. I'm not making a judgment on Mormons myself. I have many in my extended family and they're some of the nicest people I've ever met, and my wife and I are hopelessly addicted to Big Love, but I don't think the evangelicals in the republican base are going to accept a guy only two generations removed from polygamy.

Ellie, it's these republicans who you are talking about (yoursel included I would suspect) that I don't have a problem with, and wish would be the voice of the party. It's these religious extremists and chickenhawk neoconservatives as well as those in this administration who feel that they are above the law (and those who continue making excuses for them because they put the good of their party over the good of our country) who I have a serious problem with. Please do us all a favor and organize to take your party back from the loonies.

Please remember the following:
There are some Republicans (okay many) that do not like Bush and agree that his head is up his ass.

There are many Republican's that agree that Sadam should have been taken out of power but that the exuse of WMD's was not needed. Some of us feel he was just trying to finish his daddy's war and didn't appreciate the use of 911 and thousands of people's deaths to justify it.

There are some Republicans out there that only support the war now and the non-withdrawl of troops b/c we have already gone over there and F***ed things up and are scared that leaving the people there would further destroy the innocent Iraquis that do not deserve to be abandoned and left to clean up the mess that we made.

Many Republicans still want a Republican president in power b/c we fear the reaising of tax credits from the holier than thou Democrats that say they support the families and less fortunate and cival rights of minority groups such as gays, but then take away children tax credits, child care credits (penalizing the ones they want to help) and then put the cival rights issues on the back burner.

Some Republicans support gay marriage and it pisses us off that other in office Republicans don't raise the issue, but democrats send out empty promises. Same with healthcare and immigration.

This is a non-competetive post, just an opinion ...while still respecting yours.

The language in that order is vague enough so that Americans who speak out against this war can be targeted. Vague language has been a staple of the Bush/Cheney Crime Family. If they mean this stuff to specifically target the bad guys, than they should explicitly say so. And if this whole thing raises money for the party of the lesser of two evils, as I've said before, less bad than godawful is an improvement. I absolutely loathe Hilary, but right now if it's a choice between her and more of the same republican crap, I guess I loathe her slightly less.

Bringing up something horrible that happened 50 years ago is irrelevant, and I simply don't get this whole Wilsonian thing. Junior year of high school was when they taught American History and the teacher I had was this incredibly hot milf. Between staring at her legs as she sat on top of a desk with a skirt that was just long enough for us guys to never quite see a peek of panties but just short enough so we never gave up trying to see them and the fact that I discovered Pink Floyd and acid that year, post-civil war up to prohibition is still a bit fuzzy to me. The one thing that this woman who should have been in a certain Van Halen video did teach me that I actually remembered was that comparing democrats and republicans of 100 or even 50 years ago to those today is pointless as the positions of the parties and the political context in general have shifted every which way over the years.

First off, I read the Executive Order directly. Do you remember a guy by the name of FDR? The Japanese Americans lost all their rights after Pearl Harbor. Was it right? Did we win? Isn't Japan a Democracy now?

It's a very targeted Executive Order. Have you fundraised for Al-Queda, Hamas or Hezbollah front groups? Are you going to Iraq now to help the outsider groups attack American troops, Iraqi Legislaters (local and Federal) or civilians? And I know you're not advocating revolution against the new Iraqi Government, so you, you're friends and your party have nothing to worry about.

If the Democrats were serious about stopping this Executive Order, The Nation magazine would challange it in the 9th circut court. However, if the Dems want the same power when they get 1600 Penn to issue Executive Orders, they will not challange it at all.

Congratulations, you're part of a meme that will allow the DNC to raise funds and, if unchallanged, will Hillary to remain President for at least a dozen years (No I'm not joking).
