i'm starting to really enjoy painting and i think it's due to the fact i'm using the palette knife instead of a brush.

anyway, this painting is for a show commenting on the "wierd happenings" that go on, or have gone on, here in New Mexico. decades and centuries ago there were pterodactyl sightings near Lordsburg, NM.

i have been reading several of aesops fables and in the process i begin to see the story as an image and not text. i find the human experiences and emotions that these animals carry within the story very fascinating. therefore, i am creating drawings that express this in a subtle, mysterious manner.

i'm trying different approaches in contextualizing the animals i represent. the idea of play is very prominent in my drawings and prints, so in taking that further i've incorporated playful elements from childhood and more specifically from my childhood.
