Were back again this year for the annual SWU christmas party, at another obscure yet potentially brilliant venue, The Hole In The Wall, smack bang in the city centre of Exeter ! The venues under new management and they have converted the basement into a new club that boasts around 250 capacity. This promise's to be a great venue for underground music in the future (Logan D's playing at some point soon among many more artists on the cards)

Were taking on the entire building for this one, not just the basement! all 3 floors, and all rooms, everythings being moved out so we can bring in big sound, decor and loads of people to bring the rave in traditional SWU style.

Anyone who made it out last year to Laboca (a Moroccan restaurant !) will know what to expect , we took over the entire building with 4 rooms of sound, and crammed 700 people in, the event sold out and it was a wicked night!

Same deal again this year, 4 rooms of sound, loads of SWU DJs representing at the credit crunching price of just £4 advanced ticket from SWU, £5 from Reform and £6 on the door.

Afghan Headspin 'Clump Tropicana (Ben and Lex Remix)' [Valium]

After a summer packed full of huge gigs and pretty tasty tracks, most notably their remix of breaks legends Shut Up & Dance's Cream, Afghan Headspin have been hard at work in the studio and it shows. Released this week on their own label Valium is the cheekily entitled Clump Tropicana (don't ask me why cos' I couldn't find a reference to Wham anywhere). The original is described by AH themselves as anti-genre and you can see why, with a beat structure that shifts between breaks and dubstep, a warbling bassline, accordian interludes and a cheeky little mute trumpet that'll have you giggling on the dancefloor.

On the flip west country veterans Ben & Lex show send down an epic bassline roller that has a real touch of class and still manages to use that accordian sample to good effect. Strong release. (P2 - djphasetwo@live.co.uk)

NSB Uncovered showcases the talents of users of the world’s largest and most successful Breaks community, NuSkoolBreaks.co.uk. Everyone involved in this exciting project is a member of this community, from the Producers themselves, to the DJ's behind the mix, to the Artist and the Mastering Engineer. NSB has won multiple Breakspoll awards for Best Website and sister site nsbradio.co.uk has won the prestigious Best Radio award for the last two years and is the worlds largest and most popular online Breaks radio station. The main NSB site is a melting pot of ideas and discussion where many of the worlds top DJ's and Producers can be found talking to fans. The tracks where selected by a panel of Industry Experts from an amazing array of tracks submitted via the NSB forum. Once the 15 tracks for inclusion had been selected they were sent to Tarekith to ensure they sounded at their best and then on to UK West country Legends Ben & Lex for the DJ mix to be constructed.

With countless releases themselves, a successful label and many popular radio shows these larger than life characters took the tracks back into the studio to meld the tracks into the awesome mix that is presented to you today. As anyone who has seen Ben & Lex DJ will know they have a reputation as crowd pleasers for a reason. For years their sets have been known for their high energy, technically excellent style as well as their showmanship and personality. The mix brings this across in to mix itself so we can all experience their skills for ourselves.

The tracks themselves come from both new producers and established names alike and come from around the globe. A diverse range of styles from within the eclectic spectrum of Breaks are featured, so there is sure to be something for everyone in this fresh and exciting package. We at Ape are very proud to bring you a brand new artist to the fold. We have signed up the mighty 'Freerange Djs' and shit yes are we happy about it too!!

They may be from the wrong side of the border but this Kernow based gaggle of hatstand Djs has been smashing every party they play at for many a year and now they've brought their wonky ways to the production game and man alive have they done good.

Their debut on Ape, 'Your Mind Your Passion', is a massive wonkathon with a wicked lil vocal hook in an old skool stylee that leads you into a HUGE drop and an awesome 'Rico' bass-lined dancefloor slayer....2 minutes in and in the immortal words of Shut Up and Dance...if you aint dancing then you aint got no legs!!

This has been killing it all summer at the festies so now its time for you lucky people to add it to your aural arsenal.

For remix duties we have gone all out for you....

First up we have drafted the superbly reliable, Beatport chart-topping bad bwoys, the Quadrat Beats and on my mothers arse have they pulled out a fat one :) They've given us a stupendously massive remix that has echoes of the Freestylers in their prime! Mahoosif B-lines, spunktastic ravey synths and a wicked party vibe take this tune up to the next level and then throw it off the roof to plummet to its doom in the car park!

Next up on the remix we have managed to get a hold of those London lunatics, The Wrongstars... Jeebus are we good to you.

Taking a different look at things the Wrongstars have stripped it back and twisted the shit out of it and given the beast a wonderfully nasty searing synth line to scare the bloomers off ya nan. Believe me, I'm holding my nans bloomers now... errr... anyway. There is no escape from the relentless Wrongstars rave and they dont break till the end so nor should you!!

BLAP!!! What a package!! Yes yes ya'll!
