I loved these books. I ordered them after reading this posts and finished all four in a weekend. I didn't pick up on the Preston thing being over the top. It seemed restrained.

Anyway-- thanks for writing about these. I want book five RIGHT NOW.

Anne -- don't be scared. I've now read all three, and they are fine. They're all still really excellent, actually. I have decided to get over my Preston weirdness and just go with it. Also, in book three, Meg & Beth now wear Sunnydale High t-shirts.

If you can stand it, drinking tonic water is supposed to help keep the mosquitoes at bay. When I was in Africa on business, most of the guys out there would drink gin & tonics every night - to combat the mosquitoes, and probably to also help them forget for a little while how darn HOT and miserable it was!

I never acquired the taste for it, but I wish I could, because I get eaten UP unless I'm using almost 100% DEET.

I had my first Blue Moon beer on the weekend. That is a seriously tasty beer, and just perfect for the summer! I'm going to have to drink a few more of those before the weather gets chilly.
