Passion World Tour Concert - Malaysia on August 2008

WOW!! Another Awesome Concert coming to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!!

Details are still scarce at the moment, I guess the organizers are still finalizing details, but from two web sources, we have 3 August 2008 as the day of the Concert and both Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio will be coming.

Broken - Easter Drama Pictures

Praise GOD for a superb Good Friday service at Glad Tidings PJ yesterday. We had over 2000+ in attendance celebrating Easter and witnessing the broken Easter Drama for the first time.

It was an amazing production, with five key characters in the drama : Eddie, Steph, Ken, Jin & the Pastor, they told a wonderful story of love, greed, betrayl, death and life. In addition, a live- band providing the music, it just added to the intensity in each scene and the story unfolds to tell how life that is broken, but with God will give us hope, an eternal hope!

Worship Backgrounds - Resource

With technology coming in play in most churches, its rare that you ever see an OHP (aka Overhead Projector) displaying lyrics of the songs that we sing in church. I remember growing up in church where we would seldom hear people clapping when we sing fast songs, because everyone was holding the "Scripture in Chorus" songbook as they sang along with the song leader.

Then came the revolutionary Microsoft Powerpoint in the 90s which enabled churches with an LCD Projector to start putting up lyrics on a screen so that the congregation can clap, dance and celebrate along with the worship team.

And not too long ago, programs like Mediashout, EasyWorship started entering churches in Asia, where instead of boring black & white lyrics, you can now enhance the visual with colorful background.

So where am i leading with this? I just received an email from WorshipBacks, and they are an online web resource for those that needs vivid or thematic backgrounds for your church worship screen.

I just popped over to their website and it does look neat!

CD Review : FREE - Planet Shakers 2008

Just realized that i totally forgot to review the Planet Shakers 2008 CD - FREE! Got it back in January, but totally forgot to blog about it! Whoopsy!

With PS coming in April, I suddenly remembered that i totally missed this CD.

This album has not really been a great impact for me, the songs are the typical Planet Shakers songs, rockish, tunes are rather similiar. Was hoping for more new stuff.

Only a couple of the songs are really nice. You can buy the CD online, and its also now available in Malaysia.

FREE was recorded in Melbourne over two nights and done by Planetshakers City Church.

From the album, I like Greatly to be Praised, Salvation and Saved The Day. Interestingly the song Save The Day has a simliar intro to His Love (Hillsongs). I thought why was Planetshakers playing a Hillsong song? hehe .. then the intro changed. :)

Review CD : Hillsong United I Heart Revolution - With Hearts As One Part1

Oooooh i finally got my hands on the new released CD by Hillsong United. When i first heard of it, i thought it was just another one of those compilation CDs.

One glaring difference, was that the 28 recordings on the CD(s .. yeah its a Double CD), were done practically all over the world, with one even done in Kuala Lumpur.

So when i popped the first CD in this morning, I was like ...... SWEET! Nice songs. Initially from earlier reviews from other sites, there were disclaimers that the recordings were raw. But after hearing it over twice, i like! :)

The quality of the recording is good, and its all LIVE. Yeah its a practically LIVE Concert where they took snippets from all over the different cities of the world where United travelled and blest the nations. Its an Awesome project and an awesome CD. Yes yes ..... Go buy it now!!

If you're still not convinced continue to read on. I have a couple of favourites already, but i am sure the favs will increase as i listen to the CD a couple more times.

My Favs

1. Nothing But The Blood & Hosanna - Disc2

Initially i thought it was a medley of two songs. It was recorded so well, that only until i saw the CD cover, and discovered one was recorded in New Jersey and the other at Orlando. But i think it can be done as a medley. Its really really coool! Esp with Easter up close, coool song to do!! Hmmm.. i wonder if Brooke did both the songs?

2. 'Till I See You - Disc1

I just like the way they played it. The style, the easy feeling and the way the song builds up over to the end. Love it!!! Hmmm... i may just teach it next next week.. :)

3. Time Has Come - Disc1

I like the intro they did for Time Has Come, slightly different arrangement. Sounds more techno, but a great start nonetheless.

**And there are MORE. But i guess i better stop here and keep listening to the songs! :) hehe

Three More Days to GOOD FRIDAY

Three more days to one of the most significant day in history. The day that Jesus Christ was betrayed by one of his own disciples; and for what? for money!!

Good Friday and Easter is such a powerful weekend, cos it reminds us God's great Love which is unconditional and just so beautiful. He first loved us, He chose to die for us, so that we can have life eternity with Him! Simply amazing and just awesome.

I am really excited to see what our church has prepared for Good Friday & Easter this year. Although I've not seen any of the practices (chose not to, don't want to spoil the first experience watching it on Good Friday), I know it will be a great production.

Have been keeping up with the BROKEN Blog, where the team have been giving out hints, revealing several interesting characteristics of the actors for the upcoming production. I can't wait. Still trying to bring three people whom I've targeted and i sure do hope that they will come with me this weekend.

Passion : God of the City

PASSION has a new alum with a wonderful mix of artistes and worship leaders. Its titled God of this City after Chris Tomlin's song.

After listening many times, I've fallen in love with the first song of this album. (Will talk about it more later).

The album is a recording of 14 songs and like all Passion style, very rockish and with simple but great lyrics to worship God.

The first song - LET GOD ARISE was the song that really hit a note with me. The words are great as it talks about OUR GOD ARISES and our enemies will RUN! :) AMEN!!

Its a song to proclaim victory over our lives! Its a great and fun song to teach in church. Watch the two videos below, one's a LIVE version with the full band (love that style) and the second video is an interview by newsongcafe where Chris Tomlin talks more about the song and how he took the words from Psalms 61 to write the song.

Israel Houghton on the Grammy's Nominee List

I was pretty happy to see that Israel Houghton and the New Breed got nominated in Grammy's yesterday for their song "With Long Life" (A Deeper Level). This really goes to show that a Worship Team can really bring the gospel thru media to bless millions of lives! I mean isn't it simply amazing to peform LIVE at the Grammys in front of thousands of viewers and millions of TV viewers and just proclaim the Name of Jesus loudly! Woo Hoo!! What an awesome privilege! (watch the video below)

Well, to be nominated first of all is a Big Deal and although they didn't win that's not too bad. The other nominees for 2008 Grammy Best Gospel Performance were Casting Crowns, The Clark Sisters, Aretha Franklin & Mary J Blige and Cece Winans.

And the Winners were tied between

Ha ha ha!! This video is so funny. The style and concept of the video shot shows that its almost like the American Idol! :)

Reason why i find it funny is because our church's worship audition is also just around the corner. We are having our Worship Team Audition on 24 & 25 Feb. Gonna be exciting!! :)

United's I Heart Revolution

This is such an exciting project by Hillsong's United. If you have not heard of this yet, its called The I Heart Revolution!

Set to be released in March 2008, its gonna be a Double CD, compilation of United's World Tour in many many countries, including the one in KL!! Yups, in the CD you will be able to hear ONE WAY when it was recorded in SIB, KL. Coolness huh!!

Joel Houston talks deeply about this project and their emphasis is not that they are into a "revolution" but rather their desire to see everyone come together in worship. The CD will be a bit on the "raw" side in its recording, but that's the whole idea of this album.

Review CD : Hillsong Kids Tell The World

Love this CD! I don't know why the Kids CD are always so much funkier and funner (if there's such a word) to listen to.

The fast songs are mostly techno style with electronic drumbeats and cool sound effects from the keyboards, and the songs are wild, and excitingly done.

I love the remake of Tell The World, My Redeemer Lives and

If you have kids, you gotta go get one. (In Malaysia, both the Audio CD & DVD is available for sale already at Salvation Bookstore).

The songs are lively and the message in the CD of course is simple and so important for all to do. Which is to Tell The World about Jesus!

A Brand New Year - 2008

As we start a Brand New Year ... Year 2008. Sometimes in life we start off the year with great uncertainties which lies ahead. Some of our challenges are like Great Walls that stand up way over 20 feet high!!

And as many around us celebrate the Brand New Year ... some are caught with the idea on how can we celebrate with challenges building up!

I just wanted to share a text message that a friend sent very timely this evening.

All she said was

Indescribable Christmas ... Blogged!

First of all thank you to all of you who made it to our church's Christmas Production last weekend! It was simply "Indescribable!"

For the Two Nite events, we recorded over 3,000+ people filling the Hall and experiencing GOD thru a musical - multimedia production. We wanna thank God for the many frens that came over the weekend and for the cast & crew which did a splendid job! :)

This is gonna be very much a Photo Blog, and we would like to share with you what as chronological as possible for Indescribable Christmas. We are taking pictures from Daniel, so if u wanna see all the 200 pictures of Indescribable - click here

Indescribable Christmas - Blogged!

Welcome to Indescribable Christmas .. !!

We hope for those of you who experienced had a great time!

It all started with the Carollers at the church Foyer. We opened the Doors at

approx 8.30pm each nite, and all our guests who mingled in the lobby got treated

with a Carol Team singing Christmas Carols

ACT1 : When God created the heavens and the earth

These angels danced in formation as the universe was created

We used a lot of lights and special effects to help create the ambience for

all the different ACTS & Scenes! We had LIVE musicians to help create the mood.

All songs were done with LIVE music !! !!

The Multimedia Crew that help create all the various 3D images on screen!

We had 3 notebooks running and we used MediaShout to control the sequence of

all the various video images!! Tks to Chris Wong (arms folded) who created

all the various video images for Indescribable!!! Woo Hoo!

The Choir was the VOICE for all the songs. They sang in parts and

harmony creating the various moods for each song. The Conductor is Yat Hwa!

ACT 2 : Creation of Earth & Creatures

The Flag bearers started the Second Act ....

with the song God Of Wonders being sung in the background.

All the various designs of Flowers were created on earth!

Children dressed up in different costumes represented the many animals

that were created by GOD to inhabit the earth!

From the cute cute animals to the trees on earth... all living things were created

and God called them GOOD! :)

John Lim was the soloist for God of Wonders ... and together with the

Choir sang the song so beautifully! :)

ACT3 : The Creation of Man & Woman

And God breathed LIFE into man .. and formed ADAM!

Alf played Adam & Hazel played Eve!

Brilliant dance and choreography!

Liang & the Choir did Indescribable!!

ACT4 : When Baby Jesus Came To Earth

The Angels Danced & Celebrated at the Birth of Jesus!!

Nice pic of the Yat Hwa n the Light Effects with the audience as the background!

Stevie & Hwee Yen played Joseph & Mary as they appeared at the last scene

with Baby Jesus as the answer and salvation to men!

Ps Vincent presented a wonderful message on Indescribable Christmas

with many responding to the message!

The Musicians have been moved to a corner in the Hall

to accommodate more space for dancers on Stage. :)

We have a 30+ voice choir that will

bring you wonderful songs thru out the night

And there's John Lim .. who will be doing a solo on the two nights.

Children participating as part of God's creation .... will be dressed up in cute cute animals

This is the Creation Team that will depict God's Beautiful Creation

This is only 1/4 of the entire team! :)

There will be Dancers performing for some of the songs and

watch them as they help add life and meaning to the songs sang

as they figure out where to stand and how to put in the finishing touches!

The Making of Indescribable Christmas

We managed to capture some photos during "the making" of Indescribable Christmas Production at Glad Tidings PJ.

We would like to share with you some of the things that's happening behind the scenes so that you will appreciate it more when you come visit this weekend! :)

The Making of Indescribable Christmas

If you attend GT, you will first of all noticed that the walls on the stage

are no longer WHITE. Its all turned BLACK!! Check out the right-side corner of the stage

stairs, its has now been elevated to the same height as the stage.

Yes .. there are some changes done to the church Maranatha Hall, as we prepare for

Indescribable Christmas this coming Friday & Saturday.

You will notice that the lighting and effects of lightings will be much more

enhanced during this coming weekend, this is to ensure that we are able to potray

an Indescribable God ! :)

Bergson (guy in pic) and Leroy have been working overtime to set up

the Stage for Indescribable Christmas. They were the ones that put up

the Black Cloth on the walls of the stage to help create the Universe effects.

You also see cables and metal frame bars in the picture above.

They are also installing lights to come down the wall of the stage .. symbolizing the Stars in the Universe. Lots of work have been put in to set up the bulbs one by one. :)

I have always loved STILL STANDING, even when Israel Houghton did it in the Alive in South Africa album. It was brilliant!

The song is an upbeat song and its another great song written by Cindy Cruse Ratcliff and Israel Houghton!! Woo Hoo ... loved it! I like what they did this time in Free To Worship's recording.

The song was slightly slower (or felt slower) and they threw in a medley to a Hymn!! Yes .. trust Lakewood to do great things like that in familiar songs.

Still Standing is the second song in the CD, and the medley only jumped into a two liner from a Hymn. It proclaims

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand

Yups ... we stand on Christ our Rock, and when we are Standing with Jesus .. nothing .. and nothing can shake us!! :) I love the truth that is always potrayed in the songs that Israel writes. So if you've not done this song yet .... listen to it in the video below and go teach it in your church this week!! :) WOO HOO!!! I'm STILL STANDING! !

Song : At The Cross - Mighty To Save (Lakewood - Free To Worship)

I absolutely love the way Lakewood re-did/remixed At The Cross. At the Cross & Mighty To Save are two powerful songs released from Hillsong's Mighty To Save album.

But Lakewood redid the song so much better (from my perspective that is). Hills did it in a rather reflective way, the song At the Cross started slow and was slowly built up.

In Lakewood however, At The Cross was a medley from It Is Well With My Soul and it was in an upbeat tone and it really brings up the worship really really well! Loved it! And I simply love the medleys that Lakewood does in all of their albums. So it was a happy surprise when they medley At The Cross to Might To Save .... loved it!!! :)

The thrust and themes of the two songs are well represented too!! Its an amazing jump from one song to the other cos the Original Key for At The Cross is "E" and Mighty To Save is "A".
Watch the video and listen to how they medley the jump from song to the other. Another point to take note is that Lakewood did not do Verse3 (which i personally feel its Darlene's personal verse).
