Wedding News from Bridal Show Producers Conference in Minneapolis

I've been attending the Bridal Show Producers Conference in Minneapolis for the last several days and the information to increase the value of my bridal shows for the brides and grooms- to-be has been invaluable! I look forward to sharing more of these concepts over the next couple of weeks.

We just finished a great presentation by representatives of The Knot. They presented a survey of what brides were thinking and planning regarding their wedding in 2008. After the presentation, discussions regarding planning weddings in today's economy followed.

One of the statements heard during the Knot presentation hit me......we have often heard it takes a village to raise a child, but this was changed to it takes a village to help plan the wedding. I'm thinking, how about it takes a village to help pay for the wedding? Why not ask relatives beyond your parents to help pay for various items in the wedding. It could be handled like a registry. Not that I'm suggesting putting this in your invitation, but you could put it through the family network that instead of gifts you could use donations for the wedding.

Just a thought!

More ways to have the wedding of your dreams will be forthcoming. But first and foremost plan to attend a bridal show so you can meet your potential vendors face to face. There are many articles out now on how to save money at your wedding. But brides beware, some of the advice being given is just plain BAD!

We are in the position to talk to many wedding professionals who are the ones who will be working hard to make your wedding a success. Today we spoke to Knight Sounds Entertainment. They were happy to pass on some practical advice to you!

You can still have the wedding you want, but the first thing to consider is to put the date off a little longer than you would like and save for it! Don't go into debt just to have it right away and then start your married life together overwhelmed financially and possibly end up divorced.

Don't just plan to use an ipod and do it yourself. That could end up destroying your happy day. Without a professional emcee there to direct events, get the party going, and make special announcements, your wedding could be over in an hour.

The best way to cut $100 off your entertainment budget might be to book your entertainment for 3 hours instead of 4. Or have your wedding on a week day instead of the weekend. That one decision alone can save you on most every service you will need.

If you simply can't wait and want to get married now, then plan a simpler chapel wedding and hold a big party a year down the road and relive your special day with everyone present!

Our featured grand prize promotion at our recent show was more fun than you can imagine....unless of course you were one of these brides!

There were five .50 karat cubic zerconias hidden in our oversized sand box and 5 lucky brides were picked each time to sift through the sand to find one of the stones. The bride who found the specially marked cz won a .50 karat diamond from Aaron Leleh Jewelers! The other 4 brides each got to keep the cz or received a $100 gift certificate good with Aaron Lelah.

Sometimes the winner found her stone rather quickly and other times it took a while, but everyone had a great time!

Macy's Wedding and Gift Registry created a show booth environment so gracious and tastefully decorated that the brides could not help but stop and find out more about their bridal registry. Little Pastry Chefs was one of the first stopping points for brides entering the bridal show. You could not miss their oversized Barbie Cake as well as the lovely pink smaller versions. What a unique display! Of course they had many other lovely cakes to choose from too.

At our recent January show there were so many fantastic booths. But here is another one that really stood out from the crowd!

Michael Testagrossa created a walk down the aisle feeling in his booth that truly stood out from the norm. This photo just does not do the display justice which featured a green approach with a moss lined aisle runner and brite red candles for visual pop. JW Marriott also had a "going green" table scape in our table scapes gallery that was a real hit with the brides.

The 34th Bridal Spectacular was a huge hit with the brides!

This past weekend over 1,150 brides attended our event at The Pavilions at World Market Center Las Vegas. They were so excited and having so much fun planning their wedding with over 180 of Vegas' top wedding professionals there to help. Over the next couple of weeks we will be sharing with you some of the Best of Show booths that were there as well as other "cutting edge" wedding trends that were seen at the show! This week we had the honor of interviewing one of Las Vegas' finest wedding reception facilities. Stacey Kirk, Catering Director of The Anthem Country Club told us Anthem Country Club is a gem of a boutique property in the foothills of the surrounding mountains.
