2008/09 Pike Session Report

I don't normall do a full season report for my piking...but then again I've never caught so many pike in 4 months. 7 is total!

It started with a session to Farnhams River Valley, this water is a specialist Pike water. On the first trip I netted a double. The following trip I lost one.

Then I tried Woking during Feb after the big thaw, I landed two doubles that must hasve been nudging 20, I lost a third. They only wanted mackral!

Then we went to Mill Lane, we were told it was'nt a very good Pike water but even so, I netted a low double and lost a second, dad also missed one.

Then another trip to River Valley, trying a new bait called Blueys, I landed two low doubles and caught a well sized "Jack". In fact the Jack was landed straight after the second Pike was put back!

Our final trip was back to Woking where we blanked but by then they were spawning. Def a season to remember!!!

My first fish of 2009 just had a pike must be over 15lb. I am at woking lakes. It was on a whole mackral.

First session on River Wey

Visted the Wey for the first outing of the new season, apart from being plagued by illegal canoists, I landed a very nice and quite angry(!) 9lb Common Carp. Caught on DB's Spicy Chicken mini boilies!

Farnham AC's Bagshot Lea

Had my first session on this water in April, blanket but it was quite windy/wet and cold. I did better a few weeks later when we fished near the island and I netted a small but resonable Tench on Spicy Shrimp.

We then had two nights where Dad got a nice Tench and I landed two Carp, a Mirror of about 12lb and during the night, a Common of 16lb.

Good session on Langmans for Pike

Had a nice 15lb Pike from Langmas yesterday, it was on Trout deadbait and fell to a float rig in the corner of the lake. I also missed a run on joe mackrel earlier. The weather was very mild with a stiff breeze.

I had been out on Xmas Eve but the lake was still 80% frozen so had to find a spot that was clear.

November fishing session report

Hi all, currently have a few days off work so wanted to give the river (wey) a good bashing. Went out last Thur and Fri, VERY warm weather, prolly the warmest Novemeber's fishing ever.

On Thur I blanked, I went on Park Farm, chatted to someone fly fishing for Pike, otherwise it seemed quite busy on the bank.

On Fri I fished from the other bank, had a couple of good bites, the result was a very nice fish of about 3 1/2lb from the end of the Park Farm. It fell to bread flake on a size 8, single large swan shot wrapped in modeling clay and the rig was a simple 4 turn water knot.

Next session might be the river again or even the lakes, depends on the weather!

Bream fishing

Well I am currently fishing on langmans lake in woking. Bream fishing at the moment using strawberry bolie and a fishmeal bolie. Overcast and breezy.

Relief - a Chub at last

Well, after quite a few visits to the Wey and using all sorts of baits to try for Barbel, I decided to use the old favourite, Bread. I changed from a hair on size 8 hook to a size 4 to 10lb line and the biggest bit of bread. On the second cast I landed a 5lb Chub, did want to draw attention from other Anglers so I did'nt weight/photo it. Rod was a 1 1/2 TC Armalite with Baitrunner.

Now I carry a PDA phone I should be able to take video clips or even Blog from the Bank!

Was out last weekend, did'nt get anything but dad got 11lb barbel and big bream from the wey.

Out tomorrow, will see what that brings.

First Spring visit to Twynersh

First visits coming up to the group of Gravel Pits near Chertsey called Twynersh Fisheries. Going to use fishmeal based boilies on both rods with my usual float/bolt rig setup.

I am going to have my Amateur Radio handheld transceiver with me and will try a bit of 2M or 70cms when I am there. Will post any pics on here!

Mast update

mast has been cut and spigot joint has been made. Got some green spray paint and hope to get that done next week. Just been printing out some repeater lists and stuff so I can update the memories on my 706 in the car.

Another Pike!

Yep, another Pike, this time we weighed it, about 12lb so not a monster
but not bad. It was on half mackrel fished with extra oil on a 3 swan
shot rig.

First Woking Pit Pike!!

Today I got my first Pike from the lakes at Woking, it was Langmans and
that fish also christened my Nash 3 1/2 lb Pike rods. I did'nt weigh the
fish as it was only a low double and she was very lively on the bank. It
was taken on Herring tail on a float ledger setup. I missed a take
earlier that day and caught this fish from the very same spot so I think
it was the same fish. Unhooking it was'nt much fun with one treble hook
in the net and the other in the corner of its mouth lined with rows of
razer sharp teeth. In end it put the last treble in the net so I sniped
the trace and then put the fish back no prob.

First fish from Langmans!

On the second of a two day trip to Langmans Lake (part of a complex of 4 waters), I landed this nice 7 1/2lb Bream. Langmans is the toughest water with specimen fish like Carp, Pike, Catfish and of course Bream. Its my first fish ever from this Lake and its a resonable size, not the biggest by far but a start none the less. It was taken on homemade boilie with a float ledger rig. You can just make out the "loc-slide" float in the background.

Caught a nice Chub of around 4 lb. Lost another one as it came to the surface, also lost another just before that but more of a missed bite than a fish really.
Raining on and off but light showers.

Catch report - Twynersh fishery visit

Had our annual two days to kick off the new season in Spring. Dad had loadsa bream, I was going for Tench, but only managed a bream on the first day.

On the second day we fished another lake at the complex, I stuck to my guns and tried for the bream, despite Dad pulling Bream out every few minutes! I was rewarded with a 5lb Tench just as I was thinking of switching to corn.

The Bream was on spicy shrimp and the Tench was on my homemade fishmeal based boilies. I do have a photo but I need to scan it in, however I do now carry a digi cam for fishing!!!

February 2006:- Had a day on Ibsley, very low water levels, no bits. All in all 2005 was the worst season ever on the Avon/Stour but one of the best on the Wey.

Caught nothing, no bites nothing. Dad also had nothing, water levels were critical with almost no flow on the Stour.

July 2005:- We mostly fished stillwaters, caught a small Tench and some Carp from a large match lake using bolt rig float/feeder. Had a dreadful time with knot failures due to some faulty hooks cutting into the knotless knot. Lost around two Barbel and a Carp to this. Water levels were ok.
