This post is just sort of a hodgepodge of many different photos of Batman-related Magazine Covers from around the world. I think they're kinda interesting to see & I love how the character is popular outside the United States. The first 3 are from Argentina & the surrounding area. Over there they totally went nuts over "The Dark Knight" movie, that's great! The next one is from Asia & they have had a love affair with the popular icon for many decades! I like how they managed to get a sexy picture of Maggie Gyllenhaal in there! The last 2 are from Germany. I especially love the German Mad magazine! I used to read MAD when I was a little kid & it's good to know that children over there are getting their brains twisted too, ha ha!

Ken's BATMAN MEMORABILIA Toy Collection Photos!

I totally love it when Bat-Blog Readers share pics of their toy collections. I don't know why but it's just so cool seeing other people's stuff! So, you know I was happy to get these photos in my e-mail box the other night. They were sent in by a fellow Bat-Fan named Ken & he explained that they were "older photos" & he now has even more stuff than this...WOW! I really like how well organized this collection is displayed, that's cool. Most of my stuff is in storage boxes, which I totally hate! It also looks like Ken has a large variety of merchandise from many different movies, cartoons, & eras...that's awesome. In fact, one of the things I really love about collecting Bat-Memorabilia is the fact that there is SO much of it, it's totally crazy! It's not like other areas of collecting where after 10 years you "have it all". Collecting Batman can easily be a lifetime hobby! 1966 Hot Wheels Batmobile Die-Cast Car with Dioramas!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Mark, recently sent us these pics from his toy collection. He wanted to share pics of a brand-new set of toys he found called Motomax American Graffiti "Moments in Time" Dioramas. Basically they are plastic bases with a fixed background & scene that has a clear cover to display your Matchbox or Hot Wheels car. They are 1:64 scale & look pretty awesome! The scenes are stuff like "Country Store", "Mechanic's Shop", & stuff like that ( the names are on the bases ). I think these are pretty clever. Mark said that they're kinda hard to find but he has had some luck finding them at Toys-R-Us & Wal-Mart. They cost around $10.00 each. A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named KEN, sent us these amazing photos of some custom art he recently did. And when I say amazing I actually mean extremely freakin' cool! Ken took some plain boring white-canvas-style Converse Sneakers & made these shoes true works of ART! One shoe has graphics drawn all over it of The Joker while the other shoe is Harley Quinn. Check out the pics, they're pretty neat, huh. ART GRAPHIC PAINTING : THE JOKER With German Batman Hand-Puppet

Longtime Readers of the Bat-Blog might remember awhile back we posted 2 Desktop Wallpapers that featured artwork by the Graphic Artist / Painter named Tom Dougherty. One of them was Poison Ivy & the other one was The Penguin. I know you guys remember "The Penguin" one because I got a lot of e-mails about it. He was done to look just like Alfred Hitchcock. It was really cool & people went nuts, ha ha! Actually most readers liked both of them very well. Anyways, Tom just did another piece of art recently with The Joker & it's amazing! Basically it's the Joker, looking totally insane, & on his right hand is a Batman Puppet ( Be sure to click on that graphic for a larger, more sharp, version ). The funny thing is, as soon as I saw it, I recognized the hand puppet as being one that was featured here at the Bat-Blog awhile back, ha ha. It's a "German Bootleg Toy" of Batman and I posted a pic down below to jog people's memory. Now, once I started to get past the whole "puppet thing" I suddenly realized that this graphic is painted extremely well. The coloring is great! The composition is wonderful. Everything about it is awesome! OK, now if you like this guy's work then you need to check out his blog because he has a lot of artwork showing there too that's pretty cool. Bat-Blog's Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday ( Bat-Mite, Batman, & Catwoman )

OK, this morning I got NO sleep last night at all. So, I'm really tired but I thought since I was up & it is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" that I would post a few Desktop Backgrounds. I plan on trying to sleep a little bit & then I'll do the posts that I had planned for this morning. So, please come back later today to see those. Now the great thing about these Batman Wallpapers is that they were both sent in by 2 Bat-Blog Readers who also happen to be very creative artistic-type people! The 1st one was done by Sean Hartter & it totally cracks me up, ha ha! It's a cool concept, sort of a mash-up between Bat-Mite & the Christian Bale Batman from the Batman Begins movie...very funny! The artwork is pretty cool too. The 2nd one was submitted by a new friend named Ronnie who didn't exactly do the actual artwork but did do the coloring & added a special background to it. I really like his choice of colors here & it looks really awesome! Now, like I said, I'm totally exhausted & plan to take a nap but please return later for some more content...you'll be glad you did! OK, This morning, when trying to decide what to post today, I got into a total "Celebrate Creativity" kind of mood, ha ha! Ya know, I like when Batman Fans get creative & make artwork or crafts to show their appreciation for the character. Some creative people out there like to customize things. Here's a great example: Here are 3 Custom Mighty Muggs Figures that have been totally repainted to look like Batman ( the Michael Keaton 1989 movie version ), The Joker ( Jack Nicholson, '89 version ), & The Scarecrow ( From the newer Batman Begins & The Dark Knight movies ). These are just so well done I had t post them! Plus, they're kinda funny too. Now, for people unfamiliar with the "toy business". Mighty Muggs Figures are made by Hasbro & they make actual products like this of G.I. Joe, Transformers, Star Wars, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Marvel Comics Superheroes, etc...but they DO NOT make DC Comic characters ( Mattel has the exclusive license ). So, for some people who love these figures, but want DC Universe-Style characters, they just go ahead & make their own. Illustration For New Batman Book Coming Out in The Older "Animated Series" Style

I came across this graphic the other day on the Internet & thought it was pretty cool. This is a penciled illustration for the cover to a new children book that will be published soon by Stone Arch Publishing. Of course it will probably be inked & colored, this is just an example of what the cover will look like. The drawing was done by Shawn McManus & the book will be written by Matthew Manning. Now, of course, the drawing-style & story will be like the 1990's Batman: The Animated Series. I thought that was kinda cool...to bring that genre back. Here's an interesting piece of Bat-History! In the March, 1944 Issue of BOY COMMANDOS ( # 6 ) Batman, Robin, and Alfred join the Paper Drive effort for the war. In this Public Service Announcement Ad ( PSA ) Alfred explains to a small boy how recycling newspaper can help the US Troops during World War II. Awhile back, here at the Bat-Blog, one of our readers, named Tomas, shared some really nice photos of his amazing Batman Action Figure Toy Collection. The cool thing is that he's from Puerto Rico & I love to meet Bat-Fans from all over the globe, so that was pretty neat. Anyway, he submitted a lot of wonderful pics that many readers totally enjoyed ( his collection is awesome ). Now, when he sent those photos he took a special photo of one unique toy that I saved to post at another time...because it really stood out. It's a "Bootleg Batman Action Figure" from China & while looking at the photo I noticed a lot of English spelling mistakes that were kind of funny! Here they are: In the top right-hand corner of the packaging art it says, "Morgan Freeman". OK, right off the bat they're wrong because it's a figure of Christian Bale as Batman, ha ha! But, it continues to say, "most new series, design for the children fangle ( the word "Fragile", maybe? ) and in the high quality welcome you use our products completely new to come into the market"...yeah, totally crazy! Then, at the bottom of the front-side it says, "BATMAN BEGINS, Super Century Design, Unequal in Performance". Which is spelled a little better but is sort of totally wacky!! Anyways, I thought this stupid stuff was kinda funny...hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, ha ha! So, now go to the store & buy your Morgan Freeman figure!

There's a new fashion clothing company out there now called UNIVERSAL DESIGNS & one of their new products is gonna be this Leather Jacket modeled after the uniform worn by "Bob The Goon" in the 1989 Batman film. Except, the twist is, the graphics are the modern day "Heath Ledger Joker" from The Dark Night movie & not the comic book version that was used in the older movie. But, I guess it's sort of an homage...that's cool!

When I was a very young teen DC Comics used to publish these HUGE comic books called Treasury Comics. They were a very large format & I used to totally love them. One of my favorites was called "Muhammad Ali VS Superman". The entire story & artwork was done by Neal Adams so you know it had some amazing art! It was a really great story too. The basic premise was that the leader of an alien race wanted to know who would win if Ali & Superman fought in a boxing match. The alien leader had them both abducted & taken to a planet with a red sun. Because of the "red sun" aspect, Superman didn't have any super-powers at all so then it would be an "equal fight". The story also dealt with a lot of real-life issues like race, tolerance, justice, equality, etc...it was just really really great! In fact, it's now a beloved classic! Well, this post is mainly about the "parody covers" in other magazines. The 1st one is an issue of ESPN Magazine ( art done by Neal Adams ) showing Muhammad Ali boxing Michael Jordan surrounded by the top 100 athletes of the millennium. The 2nd one ( artist unknown by me ) is Homer Simpson VS Bugs Bunny, totally hilarious! OK, I know this post is not really that much "Batman-Related" but Neal Adams was one of the very best artists to ever draw the Dark Knight Caped Crusader so that counts, right?

THE ART OF TIM BURTON Limited Edition Hard Cover Book

Tim Burton directed the 1989 Batman movie & a lot of that movie's style was his own unique vision. For that reason a lot of Batman Fans also like his other films: Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Mars Attacks, & Charlie and The Chocolate factory, among others. He's about to come out with a live-action film of Alice in Wonderland that looks pretty cool! Well, he's also known as a serious graphic artist & dabbles in the fine arts every now & then. So, for that reason, he's gonna publish a book that will be coming out later called THE ART OF TIM BURTON. It's gonna be a hardback with over 400 pages & 1000+ illustrations. There will also be a Special Limited-Edition Copy too. This project was just announced directly from him & the details are sort of vague, for now. But be sure to stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because when we get more information we'll be one of the 1st places to let you know! Personally, I love his artwork & this book will probably be a "must-have" item. My birthday is coming up in January ( hint, hint ).

Our good friend "Batmobile Billy" sent us a photo of this brand-new toy he saw at a retail store the other night. He's always on the hunt for cool Batman Batmobile Toys & spotted this new variation of the DC SUPER FRIENDS BATMOBILE CAR with Batman Figure made by Fisher Price, as a part of their "Imaginext" series. This one sort of looks a little bit like the car seen in the 1989 Batman movie, kinda-sorta! It also comes with 3 industrial barrels of "Joker Chemical Waste" ( I love the Joker Logo on the top of them, funny! ). The photo showing the toy on the store shelf is Billy's picture he snapped of the actual product & the other 2 are from the FP website. I like this car a lot & I'm gonna have to get one later, it's pretty cool! Thanks Billy for sending the pic. Super-Amazing BATMAN TOY & ACTION FIGURES COLLECTION From Puerto Rico!

This post is all about the amazing Batman Toy Collection of our good friend Tomas from Puerto Rico. He's been reading the Bat-Blog for awhile & decided to send us some photos. Personally, I love when people do that because there's something special about seeing other people's collections. I always like to see what I have & don't have. It looks like Tomas likes to collect New Action Figures, Superhero Dolls, Silver-Age Comics Books, & Vintage Beatles Record Albums! Yeah, I couldn't help but notice them as I'm a BIG FAN of the Fab Four also. I also like how everything is so well-organized & displayed properly, that's cool, good job. Before it's too late, I wanna thank Tomas for taking the time to take all of these pictures, they're great! Tomas, your collection is wonderful & I appreciate the pics. I also want to invite all readers of this blog to send in your collection photos. Sharing the love of the Batman Character & The Joys of Collecting is what the Bat-Blog is all about!!
