i'm pretty addicted to etsy. well actually, i'm always on etsy ever since i joined january of last year. & here are some of my recent favorites...we all know the holidays are coming up ;) but i am definitely planning to shop on etsy and indie craft fairs like bazaar bizaare, and avoid spending at the mall, though i have to admit it can be hard to shop for my friends...and gift cards are easy.

i know i've been neglecting this blog for awhile. i've been working on a big piece it will be 9 ft high x 13 ft wide. so i've been messing around in my art journal for ideas, inspiration and just to play with the images i am to use. it is scary yet exciting to be creating a work in such a large scale. it is something i have never done before, so i am trying to explore first in my journal.

today i went with my sister to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the SF MOMA. even though it wasnt a weekend, it was still insanely crowded in the exhibit. i was familiar with some of her works, they had been ones i had seen in books, but it is much more exciting to see her paintings in person. it's too bad it was so crowded as i would have liked to taken more time to see the paintings up closer

i think the 4th page is my favorite one out of the four. i like making these monochromatic pages...i've also done a yellow spread and a purple spread in my journal. i'm relieved that summer school is almost over - its been a busy 6 weeks for me and it would be nice to get a small break from studying.

this afternoon, i headed up to petaluma for the first annual craftaluma held by the petaluma craft mafia with Carol of quirkynberkley and robyn of handcranked. there were a bunch of cccoe members (a CA street team on etsy) who were vending at the event so i was eager to meet them :) erika of oishii knits makes wonderfully cozy and colorful knit hats, bibs and blankets for babies. i love

i've been revisiting sabrina ward harrison's book spilling open which is simply her mixed media journal of trying to find herself and exploring her identity. i love how raw and expressive her pages are. i keep finding new inspiration from her work. i am also reading her 2nd and 3rd books - brave on the rocks and messy thrilling life, which are simply a continuation on spilling open.

i dont believe i have posted any pictures of my workspace/bedroom. i am up in the attic, so the ceilings are low and slanted. it is a long and slightly narrow space and the lack of a closet doesnt really bother me much either. what you see is a wooden table. i am hesitant to call it a work table because i dont really make stuff there, i usually spread out newspaper or something and
