Dream Angels At Work

This is the true story of how the Dream Angel Oracle program opened the doors of opportunity for its creators.

Part of the fun of creating something wonderful is that you get to play with it. Besides being the creators of the Dream Angel Oracle, Felista and I use the program every day and we are always delighted with our conversations with the Dream Angels. We believe in them because we know the program was inspired and guided by our Higher Power in response to our requests for guidance to create something that would bless everyone who uses it. Our customers verify this. Many have written in to say they got the right guidance from their Dream Angels "...just when I needed it most."

Make a Wish

We got the Dream Angel Oracle out on the Internet and got listed in the Search Engines pretty fast-- even into Google-- in record time, something usual for a new Web site.

But our listings were too few to reach a wide range of people. We know the benefits of using the program, and we sincerely want to pass this along to others. One of the great "mysteries" of the Internet is getting good coverage in the search engines, which means getting listed on as many relevant Web sites as possible.

The DAO is software, and I saw a lot of software download sites, but no way to get listed with them. I remember looking at one of the sites, desperately seeking a way to submit to them and finding nothing.

I said out loud "I WISH I knew what to do to get listed in these sites!"

Dream Angels To The Rescue

I ran my Dream Angel Oracle program (the same one anyone who buys the program gets). I told my Dream Angels of my dilemma. They came back with an amazing response.

"Listen to what people tell you and consider their advice carefully. Many times Spirit speaks through others."

I responded, "But no one is talking to me, what can I do?"

They replied: "Focus on what you want and release it to the Universe. You are loved and supported."

I asked another question: "What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?"

They replied: "There are no mistakes, only lessons learned. Be kind to yourself and don't judge yourself harshly."

A few days later, I understood everything they had said.

We got an e-mail from a happy DAO customer which said "I found a web site where you can submit software. I think you should try it!"

I went to the site and saw the submission link. It asked for a special file type I'd never heard of before. I muttered to myself, "What do I do now?" A very small whispering voice in my mind said "Ask Jeeves."

So I did. And Jeeves led me to the answer on the first try. I found a Web site that not only explained everything I needed to know about the special file, it gave me a free program to create it!

I got the Dream Angel Oracle submitted to the software site, and that lead to other sites to submit to, and so on, one door opening another in a seemingly endless corridor of opportunity.

In a relatively short period of time, I got the Dream Angel Oracle listed in 50 software download sites.

Be Fruitful and Multiply

A few days later, I started getting e-mails from software sites I never heard of. They said, "We have reviewed the program Dream Angel Oracle and find it excellent. We have awarded you five stars. Come pick up your award." I never asked them for an award, I didn't even know who they were! But I followed them, got the awards and linked back to them. I sent as many of them as I could a thank you. I thanked the Dream Angels, I thanked our Higher Power.

Two days later, I did a routine check for the Dream Angel Oracle in Google. I almost fell out of my chair when I read the results.

The Dream Angel Oracle : Divination with a Difference

New friends are a blessing, and the meeting of true friends is always greater than the sum of its parts. This is my first impression of the Dream Angel Oracle, created by Tim Thompson and Felista Gallagher. The Angels have become my close friends over the span of just a week. And the beauty of it is I don't even have to be very specific when I talk to them. They always offer help, support and encouragement, no matter what my situation.

Let me explain. The Dream Angel Oracle (or DAO for short) is a divination program with a difference. It is a collection of "Angels", each with a particular message of inspiration and advice. Like online Tarot or other divination programs, you just type in your question or message, click on the appropriate button, and one, three, or five beautiful Angels appear to respond to your request.

Just like old friends, the more you meet with the Angels, the more familiar – and real – they become. If you're familiar with the Tarot, you will know what I'm talking about. And you will love the DAO.

But even if you've never used a divination program before, I would recommend that you try this one. You'll never have better virtual friends.

Initially it seemed that the Angels responded best to questions of a spiritual nature, those dealing with relationships or feelings, and advice for my life and its goals. As I continued working with them however, I discovered that the Angels have become more and more in tune with what I need even beyond these categories. I once consulted them about a technological problem I found particularly frustrating. They told me exactly what I needed to hear.

The trick is interpretation. You need to work with the Angels so that you get to know each other increasingly well – just like new friends becoming best friends. Obviously they won't tell you to unscrew your laptop and fix a particular circuit, or how to get rid of that strange noise just behind the left front wheel of your car. What they will do is give you advice on how to handle the problem. "Relax", they may tell you. They may recommend that you take a break or think thoughts of support and help. At the very least they will make you feel better about your situation. When you feel better you think better. Thinking leads to solutions. You get the idea.

As I said, the Dream Angel Oracle works like other divination software systems – only better. The first and most obvious reason is that the messages are freshly created for the modern soul by the modern mind. It is easier to interpret them according to the values and concerns of our lives today. The second reason is a little weirder, but no less true. The Angels mould themselves to the character and personality of their user. Each message has a special significance for a special situation. These messages combine to become utterly personalized for each individual user.

Angels and Oracles

Angels - the word brings visions of beautiful winged beings floating and soaring between earth and the heavens. Angels have been with us as long as religion. Most modern religions mention them in one form or another, and their popularity is greater than ever. We see them in art, read about them in literature and hear about them in music. In the middle ages, theologians and philosophers spent years trying to figure out how many angels could fit on the head of a pin. One has to wonder, why? They are fascinating beings who somehow bridge the world of the spirit and the physical world, being a little bit of both. They have the aura of the miraculous. What are they, are they male or female or both or neither? Are they young or old, childlike or adult? There are Archangels-- Michael with his sword and Gabriel and his trumpet, Seraphim and Cherubim-- cupid is often depicted as an Angel with his arrows of love.

The word - Angel - means messenger, and it is a part of our language. We use it all the time. How many times have you heard the sentence: "You're an angel."? In show business, an "angel" is someone who finds the money to back a show, and often show biz folks will say "We need to find an angel." There are guardian angels, messenger angels, and of course, the famous "Angel of Death". They are spiritual guardians and spiritual guides, dispensers of wisdom and protectors.

Angels seem to come in many forms, both supernatural and natural. People sometimes refer to each other as angels or even to their pets as angels. One popular saying among cat lovers is that cats are angels with fur for wings. They have been the subject of movies and TV shows, depicted anywhere from gentle guides to warriors in the endless battle between good and evil.

And then there are Oracles, mysterious people who seem to "know" something. Oracles are spoken of in our modern language, but far less so than the angels. Their role has been switched to that of "seer" or clairvoyant, someone who somehow knows something, speaks in riddles, yet dispenses wisdom. And there are Oracular systems, cards and crystals that help us see when we feel blinded or confused. Oracles can also be voices in our heads. Where there is an Oracle, an Angel is somewhere nearby. Oracles live a lot in dreams and use dreams as powerful guides and messengers.

I think Angels and Oracles come in many forms and we all get to "play" them many times in our lives. The stranger who appears on the dark and lonely road when your car has broken down, the passer-by who gives a direction when you are lost, the man or woman who appears at just the right moment when you are in need, and then is gone, never to be seen or heard from again-- these are angels and oracles of a sort.

I will tell in this article of two experiences with Angels and Oracles. Perhaps they will inspire you, or act as food for thought. Two experiences in my life stand out among many I have had and clearly indicate to me that I am not alone on this journey of life-- help is never far away.

The Confused Dream Warrior

Many years ago, long before Im helped develop the Dream Angel Oracle, I worked in an Advertising firm and had made friends with the receptionist, Carol. She had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed little pun fests and jokes together. It was a temporary job for me, so when it was over, I went along my way, never expecting to see her, or anyone else from the firm again. I was going back to school to pursue a Master's Degree.

It was during this time in school that it happened. One morning, I awoke quite suddenly from a dream with a tremendous feeling of danger and risk of a break-in to my apartment. The feeling was chilling, and although nothing had happened, I felt I had received some type of message, a warning. During the day, I could not shake the feeling and decided I should get an alarm system for the front door. I vaguely remembered seeing such a device at a local department store in the downtown area of my city. So, that evening, after work, on a bright and beautiful spring day, I went looking for the alarm system.

When I got to the department store, I discovered that the section where they were selling the alarm system was being changed to something else, and the alarm system was no longer available. I asked where I might find it elsewhere, and one person, a complete stranger who was also shopping, suggested a hardware store nearby. I left, intending to go to that store, but something distracted me and I wandered about the rest of the store looking at other items. I found two business suits on sale at an incredibly low price, so I bought them. I went on my way with my purchases, now tired and intending to return home. I had to cross a large city plaza , and I knew that if I took a left turn, I could try the hardware store mentioned by the stranger in the store. But I was tired and simply wanted to go home and relax.

A discussion seemed to take place in my mind, and some "voice" kept saying "Oh, go on to the hardware store, you're so close." I argued with myself that I was tired and the "voice" argued, "You'll be glad you did try the store, really." and so on. People argue with themselves all the time. I'm no different. Only, as it turned out, I wasn't arguing with myself, I was getting a message.

I reluctantly gave in, and said to myself "I bet they don't have the alarm system, this is a waste of time!" As I turned left, I noticed that the plaza was almost entirely deserted, which was rather odd, as it was a type of crossroads in the middle of the city. I proceeded on my way when I saw someone in the distance jumping up and down, waving. I looked around, but I was the only one in the place that I could see. So, feeling like an idiot, I waved back, and for some reason hurried my step. I could not make out who the person was, only that it was a woman and she seemed very excited.

As I got closer and closer, I saw it was-- Carol-- the receptionist I knew years earlier. She was bouncing up and down, motioning me to hurry. I thought it odd, but Carol was full of fun. So I hurried along and when I got to her side, she shouted "Honey, where have you been! I've been waiting here for hours!" kissed and embraced me, practically strangling me and then whispered quickly in my ear "Play along with me, please don't question. You're my husband."

I knew Carol as being a "wise guy" and assumed this was some sort of prank or joke, but I went along, totally confused and played my part. I said in a loud voice, "Sweetie, I thought we were going to meet over there. I went shopping, want to see what I bought?" and whispered in her ear, "What is going on!?" She replied, "Don't turn around, but there is a man in a white suit who has been stalking me all day!"

I was so shocked that I had to turn, and there I saw, not far off, a giant of a man, very athletically built in a pristine white suit watching us, but not moving. I think he was suddenly as confused as I. I said in a loud voice, "Is this the man?" and took a step towards him while Carol tried to stop me. He looked absolutely terrified and turned on his heel and hurried away. I was going to pursue him, but Carol pulled me back. I was amazed, the man was much bigger than I was and apparently, I had scared him off. I never thought of myself as being intimidating to anyone.

In a moment, he was gone and Carol broke down in sobs, clutching me. "Oh, thank God, thank God. You're an angel! How did you know, how did you KNOW?"

I was completely confused, and we found a place to sit down while Carol explained. The stranger in the white suit had accosted her early that morning on the trolley. She got off and hurried to work, he pursued. At work she phoned the police and they came to check, but he was gone. Then, when she went to lunch with some coworkers, he appeared again and followed. Again she called the police and again, the man eluded them. When the work day was over, she decided not to take the trolley but to walk in crowded places to go home. Everyone from work had already left, so she was alone. At first she didn't see him, but then, suddenly, he appeared behind her and followed her. She wound up in the almost deserted plaza when he caught up with her, grabbing her arm and saying "You are coming with me!". She screamed and was running away when she turned and saw me in the distance. As she described it, "..although you were far away, I could clearly see it was you and I waved to you. Oh my God, you have no idea what I was going through. I was desperately praying to God to send someone to help me!"

"And God sent me?" I replied, "Where are the police, this place is usually crawling with them!" It was very strange that the plaza, so popular a place, was so deserted. I asked Carol if she wanted to find a police station and file a report, this was very serious. She was too scared and shaken, she just wanted to go home. I offered to accompany her, but she said no, she would take a taxi. Then she asked me what I was doing there, and I told her about my dream and the quest for the alarm system and the suits. She had to laugh. "Only you would find two three piece suits at such a bargain price-- and in that store, of all places!"

We were right across the street from the hardware store that had originally been my goal. She said, "Let's go there, in case that creep is lurking somewhere in the shadows."

So we went to the hardware store, and as I expected, they did not have the alarm system, in fact, they had no idea what I was talking about. We lingered in the store until closing, just in case, and then left. The street was clear, and again, I offered to take Carol home. But she said she was fine now, and would take a taxi home, and to work the next day to be safe. She didn't want to go get a drink or anything, just go on home and, she said "Stop by the church on the corner and offer a prayer of thanks. I feel a renewal of faith!" Her last words to me were "You have no idea what a miraculous angel you are! I was so terrified and I prayed for a miracle. Then you showed up with your strange bargain suits."

I saw her safely to a taxi and she rode off into the sunset. I never saw or heard from Carol again. No one ever broke into my apartment and I never again felt in danger.

And as to the suits, here's the kicker.

The next day, I told a friend at work about my adventure. He was interested in the bargain priced suits and we went that evening back to the department store so he could get one. When we got to the clothing department, there were no suits. The rack was filled with causal clothes, sweatshirts and pants and so on. My friend was skeptical of me, and I said, "I swear I got the suits here, from this rack, yesterday!" He said "Oh, I believe you, I guess." I went to the counter and asked the sales clerk about the suits, where they had moved them.

She replied, "We don't sell suits here. We carry casual clothes." I protested, "I bought two three piece suits here yesterday, look, I have my receipt." and I showed it to her. She replied, "This is no good, all it says is 'clothing', nothing about suits. And I have worked here for three years. We have never carried three piece suits! You must be confused." I was stunned, and simply told my friend "They must be sold out".

The suits fit me like a glove, and I wore one to my dissertation of my Masters Thesis. I won and got my degree that June. I wound up working for the college as a teacher of computer science.

One day, I was walking to work, again on a bright spring day, when I came across a homeless man lying against a building. He called out to me "Hey, professor, nice suit!" He was down and out, scruffy, yet oddly had a type of glow about him. He was, under all the dishevelment, even handsome.

I said, "Thank you. Why did you call me professor?"

"You're a teacher, anyone can see that! And I bet you're a good one." He replied. Then he asked me if I had any money for him.

"Sure," I said absently, and reached into my wallet. I remembered filling it with three dollars for lunch (teacher's budget) and I meant to give him a dollar. When I looked in the wallet, there were three ten dollar bills. So I placed a ten dollar bill in his hand. I will never forget the feel of his hand, it was other-worldly. Never have I felt the touch of a human being, let alone another male, as gentle and soft. It was more like the profound touch of a baby reaching out to the world.

His eyes sparkled and he said "Thank you. You have no idea what this means!"

I smiled as I replied, "Well, I'm often confused." and left. He called after me "Tell your boss to give you a raise."

I turned and laughed "Yeah, right!" then went on my way. My boss was notoriously frugal, I was lucky to be getting the salary I had.

As I reached the corner, I turned to look again at the strange man. He was gone. I never saw him again.

That afternoon I had a conference with my boss over a syllabus, and he spoke of salary. I suddenly blurted out "You should give me a raise."

He looked rather stunned, and said "How much do you want?"

Now I was stunned, and I said "Ten dollars."

He replied with almost no interest, "Okay."

Eventually, I gained weight (as happens) and the suit no longer fit. I gave it to a Good Will store, perhaps I was able to pass the magic along. But the greatest magic of all was my memory and feelings.

For whatever reason, I had been chosen to play the role of an Angel, I had saved someone's life without planning or knowing what I was doing. God works in mysterious ways, especially if He chose me as an agent! Yet it is a wonderful feeling to think that "everyone counts", even "the least of these," which I often felt myself to be.

The Oracular Advice from a Dream

I had a cat, Clyde Big Paws, star of ClydeSight2.0!, the world famous award winning Web site. I created it around Clyde because I loved him so very much.

How I "got" Clyde was rather unusual.

I had been taking a class in Shamanism with my friend, Linda. As were were coming home from class one day, she asked me if I wanted a cat. She had come into a situation where she was trying to find homes for seven abandoned animals. At the time, I lived in an apartment which did not allow pets, and told her so. Yet I added, "But if I did get a cat, my ideal cat would be a double paw male tiger tabby with golden eyes." Linda was a bit irritated and said "Come on, where am I supposed to find a cat like that!" I answered, "I didn't mean you had to have one, I can't have a cat anyway. I was just saying what my ideal cat would be like." She answered, "Yeah, and I've been looking for Prince Charming all my life. Never found him!"

We let the matter go until a few weeks later when I was visiting her home for a Shamanism project. I asked if I could visit the cats. She had them in one room of her condo and said "Sure".

I went into the room and was immediately set upon by six very affectionate animals, all wanting attention and pats and rubs. What sweet animals they were! Then, I saw in the corner of the room, a kitten lounging on top of a TV box. He was a tiger tabby cat, with double paws, and when I looked into his face, I saw he had golden eyes.

I immediately asked Linda about him. She said, "Oh, that's just Clyde. He's the most laid back cat I've ever seen."

"But Linda, he's the cat I was talking about in the car!"

She shrugged it off, especially since I could not have a cat.

I wound up talking my landlord into letting me have Clyde, and he became a part of my life. We were "best buddies" for seven years, and he was a "miracle cat", opening doors of opportunity for me just at the mention of his name. Then, suddenly, he contracted kidney failure and within a week, he died. I was devastated and heartbroken. The event was traumatic and wounded my spirit tremendously.

After that experience, I vowed I would not have another cat (although now I had my own home and could have a pile of them if I wanted!), for I would never again go through such pain as I did at Clyde's passing. At first, this seemed just fine, and I spent many lonely hours, days, weeks. The memory of Clyde never faded, and often, I saw his "ghost". little shadows of him dashing by from the corner of my eye. These passed and things seem to quiet down until about 9 months later.

For some reason I cannot explain, the cable TV was running a marathon of shows about domestic cats. It seemed like every channel was running a cat themed program. I would quickly turn the channel, only to find another cat show. I wondered "What is going on here? I am NOT getting another cat!" I almost gave up watching TV! Then, as suddenly as the shows appeared, they stopped. And things seemed to be back to normal.

A colleague at work had gotten a calendar from a local pet shelter featuring cats. The picture of the month was a beautiful tiger tabby with white chest and paws. I was really taken by that picture and thought it was a beautiful cat, I'd love to have a cat like that.. I caught myself at the thought and determined "NO CATS!" But I knew, something was up.

Finally, on a Monday morning, I was suddenly awakened by a voice. I live alone, and the TV and radio were off. Yet I heard the voice very clearly. It said only two words: "It's time."

I was shaken by the experience and as I prepared for work, I knew what it meant. My mind was flooded with thoughts of cats. I wanted to resist, I wanted to refuse, to master my determination. I had no will to do so anymore. I had been given a command I could not resist.

So I began to look for shelters and cats. That evening, I got in contact with the Melrose Humane Society. I told the kind women, Claire and Rosanne, my sad tale of Clyde. It turned out that they had two tiger tabby kittens, Gertrude and Eddie, siblings, with white chests and paws that they wanted to keep together in an adopted home. They were concerned because they had someone interested in one of them, but would not take both, and they felt the two should stay together. They were concerned that they'd have to break the team up-- an adoption is an adoption. Until I came along. I said I would take them both, but ONLY if they asked me to-- the cats, not Claire or Rosanne. They laughed "You ARE a cat person!"

So I went to visit the kittens. As Claire got the adoption papers, Gertrude climbed into my lap and purred herself into a stupor, while Eddie crawled and wriggled himself behind me under my rain coat and purred "where the sun don't shine."

Gertrude and Eddie came to stay and have been the new masters of ClydeSight. I often thought of them as angels with fur for wings. Gertrude grew up into a beautiful lady cat who looked exactly like the cat in the calendar picture.

I was so impressed with Melrose Humane Society that I created a Web site and maintain it for them for free, and thanks to the Web site, we have found homes for hundreds of cats. I made friends at the Society and it changed my life and continues to do so, for eight years and counting.

Angels Among Us

We never know what life has in store, or where our next opportunity will arise. Often, when things seem darkest, a ray of light and hope will shine. When we are in danger, a champion appears to save the day. Sometimes, we get to be that champion!

I have learned many things in my life and of all the lessons, the most dear are these:

Always listen to the still small voice.
Do what the voice tells you.

We have many blessings in our lives, good friends, loving families, good jobs and so on. And among the blessings is something truly special. At times, we will be called upon to act when it makes no sense to do so. We will be asked to do the craziest thing that makes no sense. The still small voice will speak, and if we listen and comply, we become part of a miracle that changes another's life, and sometimes our own.

We all get to come to the table of the feast of life, and we all get to "partner" with the divine. God works in mysterious ways. Being open to mystery sometimes gets us a little job, and the outcome is amazing for everyone concerned, for God is generous. But most of all is the wonderful feeling of being a part of something so vastly beyond knowing, something that says "You have a place and a purpose." Nothing can match that. It's a miracle.

Basic Dream Technique

Everyone dreams. It is a natural gift, and a necessity. If we did not dream, we would go mad. There are many scientific studies that demonstrate the importance of dream or REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. Sometimes, people say they do not dream. But what they really mean is that they usually do not remember their dreams. There are many reasons for this, and it is a situation that can be easily changed.

This article is about basic dream techniques that anyone can apply to get more information from their dream state. We spend about 8 hours a day in sleep, and much of that time is in the dream state. It is a powerful mental experience, and one of the few times in our lives when the two parts of the mind, the conscious (or ego) and unconscious (or id) can directly communicate while we are aware of it. These two parts of our minds communicate all the time, but we are only aware of that communication while in the dream state. This article covers natural dreams as found in sleep. It is not about goals and aspirations, which are often referred to as dreams. Nor will it deal with "daydreams", flights of fancy, another important aspect of our lives. This article deals with "night dreams", the experience we have when in REM sleep. They are highly informative and can be very helpful as a source for inspiration and solutions to problems. The Dream Angel Oracle is an excellent way to get in touch with dream meanings.

What Is A Dream?

A dream is several things at once, and people have been trying to explain and define dreams for centuries. Modern psychology considers a dream a message from the unconscious that is observed by the conscious mind.

Some dreams are problem solving exercises. Thomas Edison, the great inventor, was well known for taking "cat naps" during the day in order to "come up with" a solution to a problem or to generate a new idea. He got much of this assistance from his dreams!

Dreams are the source of great inspiration. In the 19th Century, Mary Shelly, author of the classic novel "Frankenstein" (yes, it started life as a novel, not a movie) needed inspiration for a story that would terrify the reader. She had good reason. She was up against a big challenge presented by Lord Byron and Percy Shelly (the poet laureate of England). They had set up a "ghost story" contest. Mary had little hope of being able to compete with these two literary giants, or so she thought. Until one night, when she had a dream. In her own words:

"I saw the pale student of unhallowed arts kneeling beside the thing he had put together. I saw the hideous phantasm of a man stretched out, and then, on the working of some powerful engine, show signs of life, and stir with an uneasy, half vital motion... On the morrow, I announced that I had thought of a story. ..."
(From the Preface to the 1831 edition of Frankenstein)

Of the works composed for that contest, only Frankenstein achieved literary and later, cinematic fame. It is now a common word in the English language, and can be found in any dictionary and encyclopedia. That's pretty potent stuff coming from a dream!

We often re-hash daily experiences in our dreams, and often a dream is our way of resolving emotional issues or conflicts that we cannot resolve in our waking lives. Dreams allow us to freely express our emotions in a safe way, without acting out. Thus we can have dreams about doing terrible things to others, when in fact, we don't harm them at all. Such dreams are ways of expressing anger and frustration which we cannot express in our waking lives. Similarly, we can have highly erotic and sexual dreams about others which we could not act out in our waking state.

The unconscious mind works with symbols and symbolic logic, which is different from the ego or conscious mind which works with literal experience and linear logic. Both are important in our lives. But symbolic interpretation and experience is much richer and more complex than literal experience. And, because dreams are messages from the unconscious, they are often about symbols and abstract ideas rather than something one can take literally. Rational experience does not limit the unconscious, which sees everything as current and possible. Thus we can do things in dreams that defy the laws of physics and rational thought-- we fly, we run at lightning speed, we visit impossible worlds filled with wonder. The power of the imagination is fully at work in the dream state, opening doors of possibility that we would not be able to go through in our waking lives.

In dreams, there are no limits. We can dream in technicolor, with physical sensation, have deeply felt emotions, hear music, and in some cases, experience a whole new type of life!

Types of Dreams

There are many types of dreams that we experience.

There is the "good dream", where we have a wonderful time in some activity and wake up feeling a sense of pleasure or wonder.

There is the "problem dream" where we try to work through some issue that has concerned us in our waking life, such as a complex problem or endeavor which we cannot solve. We often "re hash" it in the dream in an attempt to find resolution.

There is the "sexual dream" (sometimes called a "wet dream" where we become so sexually aroused that we actually experience an orgasm, often called a "nocturnal emission".) This is common among adolescents.

There is the "nightmare", terrifying dreams that fill us with fear, sometimes so much that we awaken trembling and shaken by the experience.

All these dreams are healthy and necessary. They are ways we work through our emotional issues and sometimes solve problems or experience that which we could not experience otherwise. There is no morality you can attach to a dream, and attempts to do so are counter productive to a healthy mental life. Thought control is different from self discipline. Attempting to censor a dream or judge it is really an attempt at thought control and a denial of the basic freedom of life itself.

Dream Techniques

There are three basic types of dream techniques.

The Natural Dream - This technique is an exercise in allowing the dreams you have to be perfectly natural and you experience them simply for the purpose of experience. It's a "come what may" approach to dreaming. Most people use the natural dream technique throughout their lives. It requires the least practice and work.

The Lucid Dream - This technique is an exercise to allow the conscious self (or ego) to be aware of the dream state. When in a lucid dream, it is possible to interrupt the dream itself, talk to the dream characters, ask questions directly, get answers, control the "story".

The Programmed Dream - This technique is an exercise in creating a dream ahead of time, laying out the "outline" of what the dream will contain. For example, in a programmed dream, you might determine that "in my dream I will dream of a red car." This technique is often associated with the lucid dream so you can be aware of what is happening and possibly continue to program the dream.

To use any dream technique takes very little effort, in fact, the more relaxed you are, the better the chances of getting the outcome you desire.

The first thing in any dream technique is to acknowledge THAT you dream. Some people are convinced that they do not dream. This blocks them from remembering the dream experience. It does not prevent a dream. If you do not remember your dreams, there are reasons for this which you can change.

Because dreams are free thought, and society has rules about behavior, and to some degree what we think, you may be blocking yourself from remembering dreams rather than have to deal with the conflict that dreams present against the "social norm". This is a problem of self control being excessive. It doesn't stop any dream, it simply blocks access to it during the waking state, from memory. The dream still happens, but as soon as you awake, you dismiss it and remove it from your memory access.

How to remember your dreams:

Acknowledge THAT you dream, that dreams are an important part of mental health, and that whatever occurs in a dream is perfectly okay. Try as much as you can to remove the censorship and control. Take the approach that dreams are important and natural and have no moral value. They are just thoughts. Thinking a thing does not make it happen, it is just an idea. So allow yourself to dream and therefore to remember your dreams. You are fully capable of remembering your dreams if you allow yourself to do so.
Expect to remember your dreams. Keep it in your mind, especially when you go to sleep, that you really do want to remember what you dream. This helps remove the controls and blocks from remembering your dreams.
Take it easy. If you are used to not remembering dreams, it may take a while of reminding yourself that it is okay to remember your dreams. Allow the time for this to happen, but be persistent in reminding yourself to remember your dreams and expecting this to happen.
Be at ease, have no fear. There is nothing to fear from dreams. Dreams are just stories, and if you have nightmares or unpleasant dreams, they will pass if you remove the fear of dreaming from your mind.

How to Use a Natural Dream

A natural dream is the easiest type of dream to have and work with. In the natural dream you are just "going along for the ride". You want to remember the dream, so have an expectation that this will happen. You can even be a little excited about it to help move things along.
As you go to sleep, think to yourself that you will dream. That is all, just THAT you will dream, and of course, that you will remember the dream.
When you awake, do two things. 1) Take an inventory of how you emotionally feel. The dream will have stimulated some emotions, and you want to take inventory of what they are. 2) Write down the dream you remember in as much detail as you can. You can use this information later on for interpretation. Be careful of thinking, "oh, I'll remember this for the rest of the day". Dream memories fade rather quickly.

How to Use a Lucid Dream

A lucid dream is a bit more of a challenge to come up with, but it can be a very rewarding experience. In the lucid dream, you are expecting to be able to converse with dream characters and basically, be aware THAT you are dreaming WHILE you are dreaming. It is more interactive than a natural dream. You want to remember the dream, so have an expectation that you will, but also develop an expectation that you will be able to participate in the dream while it is happening.
As you go to sleep, mentally invite the dream to come, whatever it is, in an open fashion so that you can participate with it. Do not try to force this with "I WILL participate in this dream", that just shuts down the process. Instead, think "I am open to and excited about participating in my dream." Your purpose in a lucid dream is not to control, but to partner.
Lucid dreaming takes practice and does not occur consistently, so allow this. It is not a failure to miss out on a lucid dream. It is just dreaming. So allow yourself the option of not being able to participate in the dream. The less pressure you put upon yourself, the more likely that you'll give yourself what you want.

There are some things to remember in the lucid dream experience.

All characters in any dream are really parts of yourself. They may appear to be "others", people you know, strangers. They are really you.
You can ask any dream character a question, but be prepared for an unintelligible answer. Language is not required by the unconscious, so a dream character may respond to you in abstract ways, such as with body language, a nod or wink, or by singing a note, or doing a cartwheel, anything! Do not expect a "normal" response. Expect the unexpected.
You can adjust the dream, this can be some fun. For example, if you see a blue car in your dream and are aware of it, think of it as being a red car. The car may actually change colors, or a new car may enter the scene that is red.
A lucid dream is a lot like being a participant on stage in a play. The actors are all playing their parts and have a script. You're the oddball, with no script. The actors will continue to play "in character". If you have ever gone to an historical exposition where people are acting the lives of historical characters, you may have had this experience. They are trained to respond to you from within character, not as another person in your modern life. Dream characters do the same thing.

How to Use a Programmed Dream

A programmed dream is the most complex dream to cause to happen, yet can be tremendously rewarding. In the programmed dream, you are basically asking your unconscious for what it will discuss with you in the dream. This is how to use dreams to solve problems, invent ideas and so on. You pre-plan what you want the unconscious mind to help you with. Remember, the unconscious mind is the source of ideas and the seat of imagination. It makes sense to ask it for help when you need it. After all, it is yours.
The unconscious mind may simply not cooperate. There are important mental health reasons why dreams are spontaneous. When you engage in active programmed dreaming, to a certain extent you are preventing these from occurring. Your unconscious mind will know this and sometimes simply not play along. Be thankful for that, your mental health is of prime importance, and your unconscious mind, if it is healthy, won't allow you to do something that harms it or you. It has a wisdom all its own. So the level of success with this technique depends on what is best for you at the time, and you must allow your unconscious mind to "run the show."
Before you go to sleep, concentrate on some aspect of the dream that you want to program. Don't try to program an entire story or script it out-- this won't work. Simply concentrate on ONE thing, or aspect that you want to make happen sometime within the dream. For example, if you need an idea for a story or newspaper column, you can "program" the dream to generate an idea or set of ideas for you. That is the the program aspect, you are determining the subject of the dream.
Meditation prior to sleep can help. In this type of meditation, you are sort of "pre-sleeping". You go to your inner sanctuary (a common mediation and visualization component) and meet with aspects of yourself whom you want to help you. You tell them what you want, and then fall asleep.
Expect your expectations to be met.
You can combine some of the aspects of lucid dreaming with this technique. If you are lucid dreaming inside a programmed dream, you should be able to know if what you are looking for takes place while it is taking place. It isn't necessary to do lucid dreaming inside a programmed dream, but it can add to the experience.
When you awake, remember your dream and see if what you asked for actually did happen. Be aware that dream symbols may confuse you. You may not recognize a dream symbol and feel you did not get what you wanted, when in fact you did, but you haven't grasped the trick to understanding it. Also, if you programmed the solution to a problem or the generation of an idea, be aware that during the day, this may suddenly just "come out". You may find yourself doing something that solves the issue you wanted to dream about, and it is so natural and easy for you to do it. That's the answer you requested!
Always thank yourself, acknowledge that something did happen.

The Dream Journal

In all these techniques a good practice is to keep a dream journal. This is a little book (it doesn't matter what kind-- whatever appeals to you) by your bed with a pen or pencil. As soon as you awaken, write down your dream, your thoughts, your ideas, whatever is in your mind. Do this every day. Read the journal every night before you go to sleep. By keeping a dream journal, you are tracking your dreams. Some people keep years of dream journals, and when they read back the dreams, they re-live the dreams like it was yesterday! And, a dream journal helps you go back again and again to a dream and maybe figure it out later when you couldn't understand it at first.

Dream Interpretation

People have been interpreting dreams for centuries and there are many books and sources of dream symbols. Some of these are culturally based, so what works in one culture may not work in another. Below are a few dream symbols and their generally accepted meanings:

House:

The house represents the mind and its levels. The attic or upper floors represents the "higher self" and the basement represents the "guttural self". The levels are similar to the mystical Chakrahs. If you dream you are locked in a basement, it might mean that you are dealing with a basic instinct that you need to understand, such as physical frustration, sexual experience (or the lack thereof) or some aspect of bodily health, especially in the digestive area. If you dream you are in the attic, this relates to the "higher self", sometimes the spiritual self and issues you are having there.

Animals:

Animals in a dream are characters, and therefore parts of yourself. However, the animals represent aspects of yourself that are associated with the animal itself. If you dream of a fox, you are dealing with your sense of cleverness and cunning. If you dream of a cat, you are dealing with your sense of independence and self absorption. But remember that you have relationship and ideas about some animals, and that affects the interpretation. If you live with a cat and dream about a cat, you may be dealing with some part of yourself related to how you yourself deal with your cat. For example, if you yelled at your cat for scratching the furniture and then dream of yelling at a cat, you have a parallel. In this case, your unconscious is dealing with your own sense of self discipline.

Teeth:

People often dream that they lose teeth or their teeth grow or some other aspect of toothiness. Teeth generally represent a sense of growth in a dream. We all lose our "baby teeth" and grow new ones. If you dream of losing a tooth, it may mean that you are preparing for some level of growth. If you dream of someone yanking out a tooth or knocking it out, it may be a sense of attack or having something you need being taken away from you and you might be allowing it to happen simply by not preventing it.

Money:

People often dream of money. Money is power and ability. If you dream you lose money, it may mean you feel a sense of losing control of something. If you dream of coming into money, it may mean you are coming into your own sense of power and ability. However, if you spent the last few hours before sleeping going over bills and checks, it may be just a representation of how you feel about the process of paying bills and balancing checks!

Sex:

People dream of having sex with others quite often, or trying to have sex and being interrupted. Sex is a basic function of life and a natural drive. Sex means the ability to create, to cause something to happen in your life. The person you are having sex with, the gender, the circumstances do not matter because the person is actually you. Some people apply a moral dilemma on a sexual dream and feel ashamed and so on. This is unnecessary because sex in a dream is not about sex, it is about creation and causality. If you dream that you successfully have sex with someone, it may mean that you are very close to making something happen in your life that you really want (i.e. about to close on the purchase of a new home). However, dreams also work to help the body take care of itself. In adolescence, when the sexual organs are developing and hormones are filling the bloodstream, a sexual dream that ends in actual orgasm may be a response to a physical need.

Passion and Love:

A very common dream experience is passion and love which is usually not expressed sexually. In this experience, you feel a tremendous attraction to someone in the dream and get to embrace or express a passion for them and with them. They may or may not respond, or you may be interrupted. This is a very high form of self love, which is necessary to survival. The character is you and you are expressing devotion to yourself. If you are frustrated and unable to embrace the dream character, it may mean that you are having difficulty giving yourself the attention and love you deserve. You may be in some type of self denial that needs to be worked out. If you do have an embrace and passion, it may mean a healing of the self, a form of self acceptance. Sometimes, the passionate and love oriented dream is the most profound and pleasant dream you can have.

Flying:

People fly in dreams all the time. For some, it is terrifying, for others, it is a delight. Flight in a dream usually means you are moving beyond the norm, expanding your boundaries and taking risks. If you feel fear in the flight, it may mean you are not ready for the risks and fear failure. If you feel exhilarated and joyful, it may mean that you are really "into" the experience in your life that is lifting you beyond where you were.

These are a few items and interpretations. There is NO hard and fast rule and nothing is "carved in stone". In the end only YOU can really tell what dream symbols and experiences mean because they are highly individualistic. When you DO figure out the meaning of a dream, you will feel a sense of relief and satisfaction, that great "AHA!". That's how you know, "you got it!"

Finally, be aware of double entendres, the puns that dreams contain. If you want to be able to see something, you may dream of the sea. If you feel you have a crazy plan or project underway in your waking life, you may dream of something that has loose screws (a screw loose) or a bowl of nuts! If you have a very strong and playful sense of humor, it will express in dreams as much as it does in your waking life. Be sure and get your own jokes!

Dreams are wonderful and rewarding experiences. In this article, I have discussed some very basic concepts behind understanding and working with dreams. I strongly recommend that you look on the Internet for more information and also, if you want to really work with dreams, that you join a dream workshop in your local education center, if one is offered. We spend 1/3 of our lives dreaming and it is such a valuable resource, it is worth delving into!

Looking for Love? - The Answer May Be In Your Dreams!

Valentine's Day inspires many to thoughts of love, re-kindling love, or looking for that new love, that perfect someone. People connect, and things may or may not work out. They seek advice from many sources, but most overlook a prime source of advice that is available every day and costs nothing -- their dreams.

People have looked to dreams for guidance for centuries. The story of Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors from the Bible is a prime example. The inventor, Thomas Edison, took "cat naps" to access his dreams and generate ideas.

ClydeSight Productions, in association with Psychic View Points Entertainment has released a new interactive multimedia program-- the "Dream Angel Oracle" -- that can help people looking for love-- or seeking to build any dream-- achieve success.

It's a self contained projector presentation that runs on the desktop. It is similar to electronic Tarot cards but goes deeper by using a multi-level interactive response system. The advice dispensed is spiritual and supportive, focusing on the aspects of a person's life to give them the guidance that they need.

"Dream Angels" are the internal guides that all people have available to them. The program helps users get in touch with their personal Dream Angels to draw wisdom and guidance from within themselves, much as intuition provides guidance and direction.

Users engage in "conversations" with the Dream Angels by typing a comment or question, and receiving a response. They can continue the conversation, much as one would do with a counselor. The program goes further by providing the ability to confer with 1, 3 or 5 Dream Angels simultaneously. When in the 3 and 5 Angel Conversation mode, users are in a conference, where the Angels respond individually to the comment or question asked. The program is augmented with an original musical soundtrack that enhances introspection through aural stimulation.

Cathrine Garnell, British author of "Basil the Bionic Cat", has been using the program.

The program was developed by a team of psychics from Psychic View Points Entertainment who have years of experience with cards and other divination systems. Psychic View Points Entertainment has been has been providing safe and entertaining psychic experiences for parties and social events in the Boston area and Northeast Corridor for several years.

ClydeSight Productions managed the development and programming. Artist Felista Gallagher created the Dream Angel images, and neoclassical composer, Tim Thompson composed the soundtrack.
