Firstly, I was really sorry to have to miss this final show of the season, which is why it has taken slightly longer than usual to get the Leader Board published - but here we are at last:

Class A Champion - Julie Rumsey and Gertie (Rehomed Dog) on 79 points

Class B Large Champion - Leah Rumsey and Ernie (Rehomed Dog) on 78 points

Class B Small & Medium Champion - Julie Rumsey and Charlie (Rehomed Dog) on 77 points

Class C Large Champion - Mike Brook and Peggy (Rehomed Dog) on 59 points

I'm delighted to say that Vikki Van-Beck is hoping to be back at NAWS for the March show with her stall of fabulous collars, leads and cards. The stall was very popular last time she was there, so start saving your pennies for those Easter presents for the dogs family and friends.

Down to the Wire...February Leader Board

Well, the results for February are all on the Leader board now after today's penultimate show of the season, and it's tight at the top!!

Class A sees Julie Rumsey and Gertie in the lead on 58 points; Class B Large has Leah Rumsey and Ernie on 66 points; while Class B Small & Medium has Julie Rumsey again, this time with Charlie, on 66 points also - so definitely a family battle going on here! Class C Large has Eileen Ainsworth and Chase still in the lead (just!) on 49 points; Class C Small & Medium has Bev Smith and Lara on52 points. Class D large has Chris Nero and gem on 42 points; Class D Small & Medium has Eileen Ainsworth and Daisy on 76 points - the leading dog for the Rehomed Dog Trophy too. The veterans Class is being led, by 1 point, by Erica Hetherington and Pip on 31 points.

So, some close calls in the chase for the title of Champion of Champion - and in every class it is still possible for the leadership to change at the final show of the series, and a different Class Champion emerge!

It's going to be an exciting end to the series!!

On another note - the charity fund raising has gone really well, better than we ever expected, thanks to the efforts of Jenny Rothwell who has persuaded everyone to give generously at each show. We had hoped to raise about £200 for Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue, but thanks to your generosity, we are now hoping to make it nearer to £350!! This will be greatly appreciated, I know, by all the helpers and dogs at the Rescue Kennels at Crag Vale near hebden Bridge. What makes it even more special is that a couple of our regular competitors are dogs from this Rescue Kennels.

Two people are leading the way to the Champion of Champions 2009 title, both on 55 points each, with others still close enough behind to upset the apple cart yet. Will this go right down to the wire at the last show in March?Or will it all get resolved next month? Who knows?

NAWS Jacket for Sale

One of our supporters has bought one of the new jackets, but unfortunately ordered the wrong size (medium). So, the brand new, unworn jacket will be for sale at the January show this Sunday. Others of us will also be sporting our new jackets as well - why don't you join in?

NAWS in January

The next NAWS Show will be held on Sunday 25 January at the Harrogate Riding and Language Centre. I keep meaning to remind people that there is a motel on site (book with the Riding Centre at their website - http://www.springhousegroup.com/index.htm - but dogs are not allowed in the rooms as it has just been newly refurbished.
The judges at the next show are Pam Brooker, Anna Wright, Tony Park and Natalie Mitchell. Details of numbers etc will be posted here in due course.
By the way, ALL the shows have been full for some time now, but I can't seem to get the show schedule web sites to show them as full. Sorry about that.

I can't believe that NAWS is in its third year, and that many of our earliest supporters are still regulars despite changing the venue. Our new supporters have thrown themselves into the spirit too, quietly getting involved without having to be asked to do it. Amazing!

November Show

Wasn't it cold!! But dry and even sunny outside at times, and warm enough in the cafe.
Many thanks to everyone who helped to make it such an easy show to run, and to everyone who bought raffle tickets for Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue - we put £100 into the pot yesterday between us! Many thanks! So far, from the two shows, we have raised about £180 - wouldn't it be nice if we could give them a cheque for about £400 at the end of the series?

Harrogate Riding and Language Centre, Spring House Farm, Burn Bridge, Harrogate. HG3 1PW

From the M62: Leave the M62 at Junction 27, M621 towards Leeds. At Junction 2 take the A643 exit to Wetherby A58/Harrogate A61/ York A64. At the roundabout take the first exit onto A643. Approaching the next roundabout take the middle lane, then follow the road round to the third exit onto the Inner Ring Road signed WetherbyA58/ Harrogate A61/ York A64. After the tunnels take the slip road signed Wetherby/YorkA64. Stay left through traffic lights to pick up the A61 Harrogate Road (be aware of speed cameras on this road) Continue to follow the A61 out of Leeds, past Harewood House, towards Harrogate. At the next roundabout after Harewood House, go towards Harrogate then turn first left towards Burn Bridge. (Burn Bridge Lane). About half a mile up this road there is a give way sign: turn left here into Brackenthwaite Lane. After quite a long way you will come to a sharp right hand bend – turn left immediately after this signed Spring House Farm. At the T-junction turn left. At the Y-junction turn right. The venue is at the top of the lane.
From the A1: Leave the A1 at Junction 47 towards Knaresborough A658. Go through 2 roundabouts. At the next roundabout take the third exit onto A61 Harrogate Road. Turn next left towards Burn Bridge. Let me know if it is wrong and I'll get our IT wizard (Mike Brook) to put it right if I can't do it myself. The column with the Rs in it shows the rehomed dogs, for their separate trophy at the end of the season. Qualification details for that on the schedule.Have fun!

Photographer at the October Show

I'm delighted to say that Sunnyside Photographers are attending our show in October, hoping to get action shots in the arena, but also available to take portrait shots outside if the weather is good.
The feedback from other shows where they have been in attendance has been very good, so bring some pennies with you and buy that picture of your agility dog in action!

January and March Shows are Full

The January and March Shows are now full, and there is enough room left at the other shows for about 15 dogs.
The closing date for the October show is next Saturday - 4 October. I will be at Lune Valley Show next Saturday so can take entries there if there are any.

Venue Update

Well, I've just spent a very pleasant hour or so touring our new venue at Harrogate, checking ring sizes and car parking area. There has been a lot of building going on since I was last there, and, although the paint work might not have been done when we go for the first Show on 26 October, the facilities will be good.
The car park is considerably larger than before, and we also have the field next to the car park for 4X4s - don't worry, it is well drained and stays dry, I'm told. The exercise area can't match Middleton Park, but we will have the use of the paddock at the back of the arena.
The entrance to the arena is straight off the car park, which will help to keep the classes running smoothly, and there is also a new gallery overlooking the arena for spectators, as well as a room for people to sit and chat in, and where we may be doing the presentations.
Next to the arena, and straight off the car park, is the Reception Room where running orders will be distributed at the start of the day, and where admin will be based. The cafe is next to the Reception Room, and will be serving bacon butties, burgers, hot dogs, jacket potatoes, some sandwiches and a variety of drinks throughout the day. Toilets are indoors at the back of the cafe.
As well as trying to get the painting of the rooms done before our arrival, there are another couple of things still outstanding. They are going to tarmac the track from the road to the venue tomorrow, and the new floor, similar to the one at Middleton Park and at Myerscough, is due to go down on 8 September - they were still digging out the base and whitewashing the arena walls while I was there today.
So, it all looks very exciting! I understand that the Shows are filling up steadily, with those people who were away on holiday now managing to get their entries in. Even with the extra 50 places this year, please don't leave it too late with your entries - we really hate having to return failed entries! And please check your postage before sending your entry off - there are a few people who will have to open their purses and wallets when they arrive as we have had to pay extra postage for them.

Shows October 2008 to March 2009

The schedules start to go out today. If you would like one, and you haven't already sent me your e-mail address, please do so and I will send you a schedule and entry form.

I'm sorry, but we don't send out paper copies at all, only e-mail ones.

We have a new venue, near to Harrogate, with a bit more parking and a proper cafeteria. We have managed to increase the number of dogs we can cope with to 150, so more people should be successful in getting their entry this year. Just to be on the safe side, could you enclose a SAE with your entry so that we can confirm that it has been received and accepted?
