Some time has passed since the last entry in this blog, but now is a worthy moment
that needs to be retained.
VbZ was like a legend for us - very rare the matches that we won against them.
But over the last time we improved much, tried hard and finally managed to
climb up to their place in the league!

We both share the third place with 1538 points.

Now let's try to knock The Barons from their first place! :D

the moles matches

1st:

the moles: chestal, capn

i think this was the first time the moles has played for a long time, perhaps even 6 months (correct if im wrong), and when they asked for match in pub dub we agreed to have one.
the moles scored the first cap in this one, after intensive 5 minute battle in middle area. after that we started to play better and with my final cap few seconds before end final result was 4-2.

2nd:

this started badly, the moles capped 1 just after few minutes from start. we managed then to take 2-1 lead when there was about 5 minutes left. this one could have ended either way, to 3-1 to us or 2-2 like it did, for their flag was quite near our base but i died.
both were really great and hard matches, we were playing in tough company, capn and chestal are both long time known players. more these kind of matches please.

Still not enough Vitamins

We had two matches against the Vitamin-tanks.

1st:

score: 6-0 to vbz
This one was actually the first 20 minutes match in the history of the league. Especially in the beginning we fought very hard and nearly managed to cap the Vitamin-flag. In fact the first 5 minutes where pretty equal. But then ... Vbz woke up and capped twice in a very short interval which broke our morale a bit.

A 4vs4 is not often - this was one of the rare occasions. The match was very funny and I found that I'm not the only person that get's easily confused if so many tanks are driving around. Many selfkills on both sides brought some unexpected moments into the game. One of us (I don't remember who it was - at least not me) managed to stay cool and dodged a hail of bullets carrying their flag to our base.
Let's praise the unknown capper.

Historical History! (I think!)

Today, two bits of history were made (although the match I'm reporting only accounts for one of them)! Bz-inc played in the first ever (and second ever!) official 20-minute match! The match I'm reporting was the second 20 ever played.

The other history is that we had the first official (I think) all-girl ducati match! Yay!! Go Girls!!

Bz-Inc's Vanillaearth (the recent Bzi Birthday Girl!) and SportChick played against kiki and Grumpf of Untamed for quite a fun match! It was a lot of fun to see how the girls all played together and against each other. We even had a few spectators :D

A Battle for Jackets

We had another nice match with FMJ, which is getting better each time we play them!

Despite the lopsided score, FMJ put up a terrific fight and showed excellent teamwork. Bzi was good, but also lucky a few times. The first cap of the match was very hard fought by both teams.

We had two exciting matches vs FMJ:

1st:

They claimed one jacket back after the girls took their jackets as a trophy recently. Very hard game - thankfully my connection broke in the middle of the
game and so SC had to sub me.

2nd:

Though both FMJs played like the devil we were luckier - one thing I learned is, that NillerKiller (haha ;-) is the better capper. When I hold the flag in close distance to our base I get nervous and I catch every bullet flying around.

The Barons gave us a wake-up call

Late Saturday night / early Sunday, SportChick and Dervish matched up with orbit and Skit from The Barons. It was a grueling, humbling match for Dervish, being out of the CTF league for such a long time, but SportChick seemed to hold her own pretty well. We came out with a loss of 4 to 0.

Both of us were getting worked over pretty well by cross-fire from the two Barrons, especially when caught alone. However, orbit and Skit are not invincible. It took Dervish a while to warm up, coming close to a flag cap once. We simply couldn't stop The Barons for capping; we could only slow them down a bit.

Dervish just came from a couple hours of play on silvercat CTF. Switching modes from all flags and jumping to Ducati-style wasn't easy. Dervish had his BZFlag GUI set up for jumping maneuvers, not full-size radar, but he will change this for the next match. SportChick was nice enough not to berate Dervish for the poor performance, since after all, BZ-Inc is a learning team. He'll need a lot of practice to shake off the rust. :)

as i was just on my way to bed around 3.30 am half asleep,shooting walls in dub public server macnus appeared asking for a match. sc had just come from work, but we still agreed to have one. we were doing "not so good", score was 3-0 until 5 mins till end. after that our amazing comeback started and we rapidly managed to score 2 caps, and were very close to third one, but solarisis ofcourse had to shoot me right in the baseline. good and close match anyways.

Jackets for Girls!

Today, the girls of BZI (currently, essy and NillerKiller) had the privilege of matching the boys of FMJ. Despite essy's complete inability to hit anything and her tendency to run into any bullet (regardless of colour), the match was very hard fought, exciting and fun!

The first portion of this 15-minute match was played without any caps. Both teams fought valiantly to protect their flags. The girls resorted to hair flipping, eye batting and even showed a little tread, but the FMJs weren't fooled. VE ran for our base with FMJ's flag while deviltank ran with Bzi's. Dt failed to show proper chivalry and threw some bullets into essy's path, which she, of course, drove RIGHT into. DT then, again, showing a complete disregard for the girls' feelings, capped bzi's flag.

NillerKiller, on the other hand, was a mere tank-length from capping FMJ's flag when ours was capped, so we capped theirs and headed back for some more! Again the teams battled valiantly, reminiscent of the Battle of Pellenore Fields.

Somehow, the girls managed another cap, essy (again) being killed in mid-field just as the FMJs died. Bzi's flag was in jeopardy! It was quite near the FMJ base, with about 26 seconds left on the clock! VE somehow dashed up the field and while essy and Syntox killed one another, VE managed to fend off deviltank until time ran out!

In the traditional style of classic rowing events, the Bzi girls now have laid claim to the jackets of FMJ and are wearing them as trophies.

Even though the score doesn't look like it, the match was pretty hard and in the beginning it seemed as if we're going to loose. At least that was my impression as I really was no use in the start and managed to kill at least one of my teammates before dying myself.
LiderC got lagkicked after some minutes and so we had to continue without Lider and Vanilla.
In the last part of the match we were pretty strong but still the FMJs didn't give up and still fought hard.
Very nice match.

Rub a dub dub

The first match:

This match started badly: very badly. Within what seemed like seconds we were two captures down and staring a heavy defeat in the face. I was floundering around in the middle of nowhere, luna was vaguely trying to put up some resistance and jh seemed to be somewhere else entirely. When luna declared "I lag" and jh "I suck" the match looked pretty much over.

Out of nowhere a capture, a glimmer of hope, a chance of a comeback. Steeling all my resolve and striking my most Churchillian pose I declared, in what, had we not gone on to lose 3-1, would have gone down as one of the most truly inspiring lines in bzflag, "Lagger, Sucker: we're still in this". Inevitably nothing could compare to this moment and the match sort of went downhill from there.
DUB win 3-1

Swapping lagger for Sportchick, as his lag was getting too out of hand we continued on to a rematch.

I have no idea how this result came out as it did, as both teams fought hard and the entire match felt quite close. Very nice playing and teamplay by both teams.

i think we were bit unlucky with this match, for example macnus cought me by surprise with great spawn when i was just typing "ns" when he shot himself, and he managed to steal the flag and make the cap.

deutsch: so, bevor ich mir wieder den Kopf zerbreche wie denn Dies oder Jenes auf englisch heisst, bediene ich mich mal ausnahmsweise meiner Landessprache (*ÄTSCH*).
Ein sehr spannendes und amüsantes Match mit einer gaaaanz gemeinen Flaggen-Versteck-Ecke. Nur seltenst überlebte man den Versuch die Flagge zu entwenden. Erschwerend kam hinzu daß derjenige mit den wenigsten Caps diesen eben jenen Report ausfüllen sollte. So ergab es sich, daß Admir mich zuuufälligerweise ein paar Mal killte als ich in Besitz der gegnerischen Flagge war ;-)

i didnt play but i watched so i thought i would report this same time as others. obviosly bzi played very well together winning dub in amazing way 3-0:P.

I start this one very cold so it's left to luna to carry the game until I've gotten into the swing of things. He does this magnificently, though in the face of much tougher resistance than the scoreline would indicate, and I came through as he went off the boil at the end to carry us through for the victory.

A lot of credit goes to untamed on this one as, despite being badly outkilled, they kept the game really tight. Our excuse is that luna hasn't played a match in ages and that the last one the two of us played together was about two years ago when we were teammates on both of our first team. Needless to say things should be picking up as he gets back into the swing of things and we'll hopefully stop having matches where we're this badly outclassed in teamwork.
