Johnstones Paint Supplies in High Wycombe

It’s official – when it comes to offering professional painters and decorators a matt emulsion with ultimate opacity, leading trade paint brand Johnstone’s has it covered.

Securing its position as one of the UK’s leading trade paint brands, rigorous independent blind tests conducted by the Paint Research Association (PRA) have revealed that Johnstone’s outperforms competitor brand Dulux in the key area of opacity on matt emulsions. With professional contractors claiming that opacity is one of the most important factors to consider when selecting a matt emulsion product, the results confirm what many existing users of Johnstone’s have already discovered for themselves. By undertaking such tests, Johnstone’s not only hopes to reassure trade users about the quality of its own product ranges but also provide valuable information about the difference in opacity between two of the biggest names in the UK trade paint market.

The independent opacity test, which was in accordance with the official quality standard BS EN ISO 2814:2006, compared the equivalent matt emulsions of both Johnstone’s and Dulux to find which products offered the highest opacity when applied at the maximum recommended spreading rate. The PRA tested the following product combinations, Johnstone’s Covaplus Vinyl Matt and Dulux Vinyl Matt, Johnstone’s Flat Matt and Dulux Flat Matt, Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Matt and Dulux Diamond Matt and finally, Johnstone’s Jonmat and Dulux Supermatt. The results of the tests proved that each of the Johnstone’s matt products gave higher opacity levels than the Dulux equivalents at the maximum recommended spreading rate.

Johnstone’s official spokesperson Martijn Venema, comments: “We are obviously delighted with the findings of the independent tests conducted by the Paint Research Association and feel that Johnstone’s position as one of the leading trade brands in the UK is now firmly secured. We appreciate that opacity is one of the most important factors when specifying and using matt emulsions and we are extremely proud to now receive official confirmation that Johnstone’s outperforms Dulux in this area”.

The Maidenhead Bathroom Showroom is also a Duravit Stockist of the D-Code range.

The Aylesbury Bathroom Showroom has just had a re-fit and Duravit was the chosen manufacturer.

The Oxford Bathroom Showroom, which opened last year, has a excellent display of Duravit and stock of D-Code is normally available.

On Friday 6th March 2009 Grant & Stone Ltd had a Trade Day in Oxford. Nikki Lee and Fifi Russo who have both appeared in magazines like Nuts, FHM and Zoo were at Transport Way, Cowley, Oxford to meet and greet plumbers and bathroom installers. Sunvic controls had a Breakfast Morning with loads of special offers on central heating controls. Utopia Furniture were also there on hand to offer technical advice on there Bathroom Furniture

PHEX Exhibition

Thursday 20th November

Grant & Stone took forty eight of its plumbers and bathroom installers to the Plumbing and Heating Exhibition (PHEX) at Stamford Bridge the home of Chelsea Football Club.

The day started at 10am with two coaches; one leaving our new Oxford Plumbers Merchants and Bathroom Showroom. This then moved on to its second pick up, our head office and Electrical Wholesalers in High Wycombe. The other coach collected customers from Aylesbury Plumbers Merchants and Bathroom Showroom and then moved on to its second pickup our Amersham Plumbers Merchants and Bathroom Showroom. Both coaches then left around 11.15am and headed for PHEX show.

Amazingly both coaches of customers disembarked at Stamford Bridge more or less at the same time, just after 12.15pm. Buffet food vouchers and entry badges were given out with a map as to where the bar was at 2.15pm for drinks on the 5th floor.

At 4pm both coaches left for the Toby Carvery, Denham full of hungry plumbers.

Once inside the Toby Carvery drinks were at the bar for an hour, followed by food and more drinks. Coaches departed at 8.15pm on a reverse journey dropping customers off after a great day out. (see below)

We are proud to announce that our 13th Branch commenced trading in May from a brand new unit in Cowley, Oxford.

This new plumber’s merchant is our largest yet, with a 120 sq. mtr. Bathroom Showroom currently under construction and due to be opening in July.

Joining our team, as Branch Manager, is Mark Hurley. Having gained a wealth of experience within our industry over the past 25 years, Mark’s enthusiasm and knowledge will further reinforce our aim of providing a level of service not yet seen in the area.
