an update - the back not being the most interesting part, still have to work your best at if of cause - but I cannot wait to get down to those folds on the legs and ... the paws !! I love dogpaws

I am working on a graphite drawing of a basset hound. I took the ref-photo at the Danish Kennelclub yearly Dogs day last year. I think he is cute and he is fun to draw. The drawing will be a nearly fullbody drawing - he is sitting - with no background. Size approx. 16,5 x 21 cm on Daler Rowney.

This is the remaining part of a larger painting. I started in watercolors but felt the whole thing looked too flat. I then reworked a bit with colored pencils and acrylic paint.
Originally there was 2 horses, but I managed to destroy no. 2. Instead I have a small painting of this horse.

here is an update on Big Boy. I've altered the underpainting and started painting actual hairs. Also started the grass, I intend to leave it and have the space above free/white.
I also attach a pic of my materials used.

Big Boy - Great Dane

I have started a new journey with this painting, as it is in acrylics. I've had my paint and brushes waiting a long time, only done a few tests untill this one. So I am not sure how this will progress.
I took the ref-photo at a dog-show. I had never seen this coloring on a great dane before, in danish it is called "platten-hund" (from german). The dog is almost white only with a few large black spots (not like a harlequin-colored with many small spots).
I think my title Big Boy suited him very well.
The size is A4 (21 x 29,7 cm), and I suppose I should have started on a larger support, but that'll be for the next one.

I am very proud, that my colored pencil drawing "Leading Pair" was chosen to Ann Kullbergs new book "Colored pencil secrets for succes" that has just been released. Ann Kullberg being one of the top-famous cp artists in the US, gives my drawing a honest and fair critique in her book.

I am thrilled that my drawing Black cocker spaniel has been selected for the Dog Art project.

A book about livning artists using dogs in their art.

I am sure there has been plenty of drawings and painting to choose from , so it is really an honour to be chosen.

I don't have a release date, but will be updating here of cause.

The book will be published on a print-on-demand from Amazon.com. The editor is Jan Erinrac.

This is the first artwork in a new series I've started. Colorful pattern; a title that should certainly have many motifs in the animalworld.

Mostly watersoluble colorpencils (derwent, caran d'ache supra and FC A. Dührer) but also ordinary cp. Size 8.6 x 11.2 inches.I had the referencephoto from a zoo, and zoomed in as you can see....

I keep myself busy these days, so I've already finished the 3. "eyes of the wilderness" painting. This is another wolf, but this time an arctic wolf. Again art spectrum as support, but only colored pencils this time.

Eyes of the wilderness II - brown bear

This is my second painting in the Eyes of the wilderness serie.

It is painted with inktense pens in some areas. Then colored pencils are added in many layers and brused with solvents.

The paper is Art Spectrum colorfix. Size 12x37,5 cm.

Chameleon II - watercolours

Enjoying the splash of watercolours I've continued the Chameleon-series.

These small creatures really facinates me. If they didn't eat such awfull insects, I would like to keep a couple myself.

The process when painting these; I have reference photos from which I draw a freehand (eye+hand+pencil only tools) in a loose style. The plants are imaginative or loose interpretations. I then choose a colorscheme, first the 3 primary colors; red-yellow-blue. I start with these colors, mostly layered on the paper but some mixed before put on paper. I then add additional colors, like greens or a charcoal grey to emphasize a dark spot.

I love the look of sharp edgdes in watercolours and painting in this loose, imaginative style, nothing prevent me from keeping them - as a painting in realistic style could require.

Chameleon - watercolors

I am really practicing with my watercolors these days. Again a painting emphazising the colors more than anything. I just love the way watercolors can be layered with a transparency not possible with any other media I have tried.

I also find that graphite and watercolors are a beautiful mix. Delicate pencilstrokes showing through is what I try to achieve, together with a rather loose, but still shaped application of colors.
