Always have a backup!

The weather was still a little rough. We decided to get shrimp as a back up just in case we could not find bait. We found bait but it was very small so we started using our basck up plan. The shrimp!We fished a few of my old holes and on the last hole we hit the jack pot. One big snook too the boat and one snook missed our bait which was bigger than the one we have the picture of. So remember it may not be a bad idea to get some shrimp as a back up plan we are sure glad we did today!

Well we had a great day on saturday. We ended up with a backwater slam all on artificial baits. 1 snook 1 red and several huge trout. Here is a pic of one of the big trout. This weekend starts the Flatsmasters Series once again. Keep an eye out while we make a run for team of the year.

New charter trips coming from Florida Flatz Fishin'.

This summer we are going to offer a little different trip than the full or half day charters. We are going to offer week long charters either in the 10,000 island area or pine island/charlotte harbor area. We will either have a house boat or stay in a home in those areas. We will be fishing from dawn to dusk with a fish fry every night. The trips are limited to 3 people. I have had alot of interest and questions regarding these trips. I am looking forward to booking the trips. We are going to need to book these 4-6 weeks out so book yours now. I look forward to hearing from you. You can email me through the website. Great trip yesterday. The bait is back and the fish are waking up. After getting bait in the morning we decided to do a little snook fishing. We boated about 30 snook along with some jacks,ladyfish and trout. The day was great and cannot wait for another trip this week.

Well the new year has started out to be a good one. Trout season is now open and the fishing has been great. The bait is plentiful and large. We went out yesterday and boated 7 Reds and numerous snook. We ended the trip with a few 10 pound jacks which fought like crazy. keep an eye on the blog for up to date info on all the trips and what the fish are doing in the area. Tight lines!

We had another successful trip with Mike and the boys from Europe. The bait is plentiful at both the Naples and Marco bouy. We landed 7 redfish over 6 pounds and numerous snook and other fish. Keep an eye out on the blog for pics and video from the trip.

Day two was glommy and windy. We started out with a few small snook and reds. We finally picked up a nice red which weighed over 6 pounds. we then went and found some nicer bait and started our snook fishin. We had some nice hits and with about an hour left we hooked a big one and lost it. That fish would have given us first place, but that is fishin. It was a great year and look forward to next season and making a run for team of the year.

Well the bait is plentiful out on the markers and offshore. We had a great day of fishin. Red after red and Smook after Snook. Stay tuned to see how we do this weekend in the Romp in the Swamp tournament. I hope we win.

Fourth leg of Flatsmasters!

Well we had a good tournament. The tournament was 1 Red and 1 Snook. We started out the morning with a nice redfish. Then we moved our focus to snook. The story of our life yesterday was 1/4 inch too small. Then finally with 3 minutes left in the tournament we got a keeper snook. We finished 22nd out of 75 boats it was a great day and a competitive tournament. Looking forward to the championship in October. Keep an eye out.

Bait is tough.

Only small bait for the most part. There is some big bait offshore but you have to work for it.If the bait is small switch to your favorite soft plastic and hit the bushes. There are still plenty of redfish and snook under the bushes willing to eat. Well good luck and keep up the hard work.

Big snook are moving and staying in the pass. The fishing is great if you have the right bait. There is still plenty of white bait offshore and the snook are eating the bait like crazy. We have three tournaments this month so stay tuned to see what happens. I attached a few picks of some snook we caught. This is Britt's biggest so far.

Another great fishin trip. We just took the girls out for a few hours for a little fun. This is the first fish hooked today. What a way to start! The bait is still out there so have fun and tight lines.

Well we just got done filming a short pilot for a TV show. The show will be called Florida Flatz Fishin' of course. Keep a watch for it as we get done with the editing I will let everyone know what time and channel it will be on. The show is going to deal with our local area. On the different ways and what types of baits to use. The patterns of our fish and what to look for. There is still alot of white bait offshore and actually there was some on the marker a few days ago. With the rains starting and the good full moon tides last week the big momma snook have started to move into the pass. So keep a watch out for them and they are hungry. The redfishin has started to pick up down south and the tarpon are still around. Have a good trip and tight lines. Keep the emails and comments coming!

Cubera snapper?

Well I heard rumors that there were some big Cubera snapper at the pass but never caught one. Well we got one yesterday while tarpon fishing. Jake caught it and the fish gave him a great fight. Oh yea it also tasted great. The white bait is still around so email me and send me some good pics and fishing reports and I will put them on the site. Keep up the good fishing and tight lines.

This tournament was a nice one. The fishing was not too bad. We had our first nice red in the boat by 8am. That is what I like on tournament day. We then caught our second nice one about 1 in the afternoon. Our weight was almost 10 pounds. We were one pound out of the money. All and all it was a great fishing day. There was also a few nice snook and trout caught. We were 29th out of 107 boats.

This was a great day. We caught 8 reds over 30inches. These are a few of the fish my fiance Deanna caught her biggest ever. I was so proud of her and cannot wait to fish a few tournaments with her.

Today was great. Myself and my fiance Deanna went out for a bit. We searched a bit for bait with no luck. So we decided to use artificials. The first spot we went to the bite was not on. So we trucked onto our next spot where we landed two reds,four flounder and a nice trout. Then we tried one of my old spots and low and behold a nice 8lb snook jumped on my gulp. It was a great day all the fish were caught with Berkley Gulps on a 1/8 ounce jig head.Keep the fishin reports coming and good luck.

I took 3 generations of the Edman's family fishin today. The morning started out beautiful. We were going to do a little jigging and stumbled upon some nice white bait. We caught a few small trout then tried to get a keeper snook. That was almost an impossible chore due to the full moon the past few nights. The snook have been feeding heavily at night because of the moon. I found a nice area with a bunch of upper slot and oversized snook layed up but no luck. We switched gears to redfishing after that. We managed to boat 5 oversized reds. What a great fight they were. There were a few keepers mixed in but they seemed to release themselves at the boat hmmm. Ah no big deal. They will just be waiting for us next time. I really enjoyed the trip and wanted to thank the Edmans for a great time. Pics of the trip are soon to follow. Tight lines.

We started out the morning by trying to get some bait. That was a job. We ended up using the Sabiki rig offshore to get some nice threads and whitebait. Then we moved to the rocks. We started out with a few nice snook and got broken off by a few big boys. We landed a few nice big jacks also. When we were done with that we tried to do a little redfishing but the tide was slack so the reds were reluctant to help us out. All and all it was a great day fishing. We will get the reds next time stay tuned!
