We've got the space and the talent geared up for a great summer daycamp program (9 weeks)
on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Let’s get rocking with you learning to play the guitar or advancing your skills! Longer class time gives the teacher more time to help each student and gives students more time in class to practice. Instructors, Brian Buchman MM, and Rocky Torres will be teaching a variety of styles, songs, exercises, and playing along with drummers and other guest musicians!<br>
Get a complete view of chords, rhythm, knowing the notes, proper technique, understanding the instrument, along with cool exercises and melodies. Music theory is a something that musicians know about, now you can too. We keep it fun, interesting and not too complicated.

<h1>Finding the best teacher for you!</h1>
When I was eight, I took my first guitar lesson. It was really boring. The instructor made no connection with me and he didn't try. He just showed me the very basics; how to hold it, the parts of the guitar, and that's about it. I did not take another lesson until five years later at thirteen.
Now there were two factors involved in why I did not continue lessons at age eight, one of them was the fact that I had no real interest in the guitar at all until I was older.
At the time, I may have said to my mom, "I like the guitar", because I did like the sound. I remember listening over and over again to the beginning riff to Surfin' U.S.A. by The Beach Boys. However, I didn't consider at that time that I might be able to learn how to play it. The other factor was the fact that the teacher made no effort in trying to connect with me, which can be difficult when the age gap was probably about forty-five years. Years later, I did become interested in actually learning to play and learning parts of songs is what kept me interested. Doing some reading study (arguably tedious) should always be rewarded with a cool riff: Beach Boys, Metallica, Nirvana, Green Day, Rascal Flatts... whatever sounds cool that you're familiar with enough to know when you play it right.
This is why we ask questions when potential students come in or call.
We want to know about your interests and get a vibe for your personality - high strung or low key (puns intended) - or somewhere in between, so that we can place you with the best match instructor-wise.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/31924722-6252566011789505204?l=www.tampaguitarschool.com%2Fmusic-lessons-articles%2Findex.php'/></div>dna music studioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11475834637666900589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31924722.post-51689629659855044912009-02-23T11:51:00.000-08:002009-02-23T11:58:17.120-08:00Floating Credits<p><h1>Should You Float?</h1><br>
Floating credits are for students who absolutely can't keep a regular weekly
lesson on the same day and time. Lesson credits are purchased in advance and
booked with 2-3 days advance notice. Lesson credits have a long (6 month) shelf
life and can be stacked - 2 in a row or multiple lessons in one week - as needed.
Book lessons at your convenience with Floating Credits.
<br>Once a credit has been booked into a time slot, it cannot be moved or rescheduled.

<p><h1>The Benefits of Being an ARS Affiliate</h1><br>
<h2>Ask yourself these questions:</h2><br>
1. Do you own/run a music lesson studio?<br>
2. Are you supporting your lifestyle with lesson studio income?<br>
3. Do you have a recognized brand name and logo?<br>
4. Do you wish that you could grow your business but can't afford to "risk" it alone?<br>
<br>
We could be the answer you're looking for. American Rock School is expanding.<br>
We're looking for ambitious and creative partners who share our desire to teach music.<br>
<h3>Becoming an affiliate with American <br>Rock School makes a lot of sense:</h3>
<h2>1. Branding & Recognition</h2>
Face it: cool sells. We advertise on the radio, print, and participate in large events such as NBT at the Ford Amphitheater, which not only drives traffic to our website and phones, it put us in the face of thousands. We already have customers from the greater Tampa Bay Area making the drive to our 2 Tampa locations because they know who we are and want to be a part of it. Our brand is growing in popularity and recognition fast. All our customers get geared up with ARS welcome kits: shirts, wristbands, picks, folders, hats and more. Our loyal students are proud to be a part of our family.
<h2>2. Respect in Numbers</h2>
An American Rock School affiliate is an advantage over a single owner/operated studio because you'll have the power of a time tested and solid company policy that customers won't be inclined to haggle with. It also adds credibility in the form of security for your customers who will feel great in the knowing they are part of something bigger.
<h2>3. Regional Marketing</h2>
This could be number one. We already market in the area more than anyone else doing something similar. We are on the radio, ranked in the top on web searches, rated "A" with the BBB, and in many school planners and yearbooks. If our brand is your brand, then calling us is calling you. We don't plan to compete with our branch affiliates for customers. Your location must be at least 25 miles from any of ours to be considered as an affiliate location.
<h2>4. Training</h2>
Students can expect the same quality of instruction from any of the American Rock Schools. Your current instructors will get the same training that we give ours with the focus on retention, versatility, and practicality. We will screen future instructors with our perfected entry exam to make sure that the right person is hired.
There is far more to teaching music than only the material if you want long-time students and loyalty to you.
<h2>5. Management and Schedule Systems</h2>
This is one of the least talked about and most important aspects of your business. Phone answering and email responding is key to growth. If a potential customer is not impressed up-front with your business' professionalism, they lose interest and respect FAST. That is why we are handling it for you up front. We collect all the info up front and send it to you so you can set them up right away. This is a no-brainer.

<p><h1>Keep It In Shape</h1></p>
<p>
Like people, instruments have moods; good days and bad days. The condition of your instrument lends itself to the likelihood of how often it will be played. Simply put: keep your gear in shape! Some things to do regularly:</p>
<ol>
<li>change old, rusty strings,</li>
<li>tighten loose parts,</li>
<li>lower your action (ask how)</li>
<li>fix bad wiring</li>
<li>TUNE it, and keep it clean.</li>

<p><img src="http://www.tampaguitarschool.com/uploaded_images/562751_jefro-701054.jpg" alt="" class="postimg"/>No one said it was easy. I'm telling you now that it's fun. No pain no gain? That doesn't apply here. What does apply is rock, jazz, blues, classical, pop, punk, metal, country, hip-hop, experimental, alternative, and all the categories and sub-categories of what? MUSIC.</p>
<p>When learning music there are a few popular acronyms such as "Every Good Boy Does Fine" , or "<b>Empty Garbage Before Dad Freaks</b>" = E.G.B.D.F.- notes for the lines of the treble clef. (music staff) Another is "<b>Even A Dummy Gets Better Eventually</b>" or "Elephants And Donkeys Grow Big Ears" - for the six strings of the guitar (when it is in tune). Here is an acronym for M.U.S.I.C. : Musicians Understand Smarter Instrumental Complexities. That's lame! But it is true.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.tampaguitarschool.com/uploaded_images/573485_playing-740963.jpg" class="postimg" alt="" />Why aren't the best musicians the most popular? That opens up a whole area of discussion about personal tastes and opinion versus technical skill. Since I'm the only one talking here, we can't have a discussion. I'm the expert, so just pay attention. Some people love stuff that, as it turns out, is not that hard to play. We like that stuff because it's usually popular, there's tons of it, and learning how to play it makes you hungry for a bigger challenge. Other people only appreciate music that is difficult to perform, usually very fast, "scaley" stuff. We can appreciate that there is a certain amount of dedication to making your hands do the same things over and over again so many times that you can fly through notes at blazing speeds. But where there is speed there may not be thought.... and so there is jazz. <b>If pop is the Monopoly (get it?) then jazz is the chess of music. </b>I'm not trying to get you interested in jazz - unless you are already, so I'll move on.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.tampaguitarschool.com/uploaded_images/572172_music_notes_3-790938.jpg" class="postimgL" alt="" />At American Rock School (formerly Tampa Guitar School), we appreciate all kinds of music and believe that all styles have merit and something that one can learn from. So keep an open mind. Once a musician reaches a certain level, there is a feeling of membership into a collective group who are "in the know". They listen to music differently because they now appreciate how it's created and have respect for the dedication a player must have to be able to perform certain things. They understand the notes an artist chose and why, as well as the the scales and modes. This is music THEORY. Understanding it makes a musician's perspective completely different than the average listener. It's like a new world of language and culture. Help me come up with an acronym for theory...</p>
<p>Whether you are a beginner who thinks guitar is "cool" (you're right, it is), or a hobbyist who likes to sit at the piano and sing, or a blues nut who likes to watch jam sessions, or a seven year old who likes to hit things (future drummer), or a teenager with a dream of someday opening for Green Day, forget that — having Green Day open for you —<b> we will help you get to where you want to be — as a player and as a MUSICIAN.</b></p>

<h3>STUDENT BENEFITS</h3>

<h3>The dedication to learn</h3>
<p>Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to play, but that does not change our level of commitment to their progress. Some people have had a guitar or a piano for many years and think to themselves "it's about time to learn how to play that thing". Some students come to us with many years of playing experience who want to fill-in the blanks with music theory and their understanding how music is created. Some people got interested in learning to play the real thing after they got good at playing a popular video game. Many pros know that you can never stop learning something new or stop improving your technique. Famous artists know the importance of keeping a regular training schedule with a coach. Your instructor is your music coach. That's why a regular weekly lesson keeps the momentum moving forward and learning on track. That lesson time is your musical personal training session!Have patience with yourself, and we will grow your inner musician!</p>
<h3>why theory is important</h3>
<p>An extreme example could be about your doctor. Do you want her to only know what to do, or to know what and why to do it? It is one thing to memorize a move without a clue what you are doing (is that a G seventh chord or do you just call it "the claw" like Phoebe on NBC's Friends?) and another to understand the notes, scales and chords that are in the "KEY" of the song you want to play. Once you know the key, everything falls into place. The pros know theory, you should too.</p>
<h3>Keep your gear in shape</h3>
<p>Out of tune and rusty strings don't lend to a student's desire to play.
A keyboard with a busted key and dried soda stains might not either.
Keep your gear in good shape.</p>
<p>At American Rock School (formerly Tampa Guitar School), we teach using both standard notation, tablature (TAB) and chord charts. We'll teach you scales, reading rhythm, arpeggios, speed drills and exercises, sweep-picking, chord progressions, how chords are formed, what intervals are, fancy cool-sounding "tricks" that pros use, ear training, picking and right-hand finger technique, and more. We give you examples in styles like rock, blues, metal, punk, country, jazz, classical, reggae, folk and more. Our expert instructors will demonstrate first-hand how to play. They'll slow it down for you and explain the technique and the theory. Once you understand that, it's only a matter of practice!</p><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/31924722-4007690164267298328?l=www.tampaguitarschool.com%2Fmusic-lessons-articles%2Findex.php'/></div>dna music studioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11475834637666900589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31924722.post-25146521611160281372007-01-31T20:44:00.000-08:002008-08-31T18:00:15.090-07:00Live Music Booking<h1>Live Music 4 Hire</h1>
