Congratulations Amy and Mike!!

Amy's wedding was yesterday and it was amazing. She was married in the Salt Lake Temple and had a beautiful ceremony. Later, she had a ring ceremony and an amazing reception. It was a great night!! The photographer took a million pictures but they won't be available for 6 weeks so I'll have to upload the pictures that my mom and other family members took. I'll probably upload more throughout the week.

It was such a wonderful day because my sister was so happy!! She and Mike were as in love as a couple can be! If you don't know the story, Mike lost his wife to cancer earlier this year. He has three children which means my sister is an instant mom!! It is so miraculous how these children (ages 12, 10 and 7) have taken to my sister and incredible to see the amount of love Amy has for her new children. She knows there will be challenges ahead but everyone who knows Amy, knows she will be an amazing mother and wife!

It's late and I am so sleep deprived it's ridiculous!! I better just post!! :)

I can't get the pictures uploaded for some reason, ... I'll try again when I'm a little more awake but for now I've put them on my facebook account.

WEDDINGS!!

My beautiful sister Amy is getting married on Saturday!! I'm so excited for her and her darling finace, Mike.

I had a conversation with my mom the other night that got me thinking about weddings and kids. Josh and I recently went to a wedding reception that was full of children. Come to find out, ... the bride and groom were not happy about the children and I could see why. When we got married, none of our friends had children. The day was definitely about me and Josh and our union. The wedding Josh and I recently attended was a stark contrast to this. Parents were trying to keep their restless children under control and the focus was no longer on the couple. The couple shared their feelings with us and I think they felt comfortable sharing their frustration with us because we had arranged a babysitter for our children, ... afterall, they weren't invited. The invitation said, Mr. and Mrs. Z.

I shared this experience with several close friends and was surprised how many people didn't agree with my thought process. One friend said that bringing their children to a reception depends on where the reception is held ...

I have decided to post my first survey, I hope it works!! I'm curious what my friends and family or just random blog surfers feel.

Speaking of weddings, I'll post pictures soon of my sister's wedding!!!

How would it be?

This morning I was straightening upstairs with Nathan when I needed to run a few things downstairs. I closed the gate and ran downstairs. Like I often do, I got distracted by the computer and sat down to read some emails. I could hear Nathan playing right above me although I noticed at one point that things were a little too quiet upstairs. I ran upstairs to check on Nathan and couldn't find him! I ran to his room, my room and the guestroom, ... no Nathan! I started freaking out a bit, afterall, the gate was closed so there was no where for him to go. I began checking all the toilets!! Scary! I was in the process of going through Katie's room to check the girl's bathroom when I happened upon a soundly sleeping baby boy. I couldn't believe it! He is so sweet!! I wish I could take little breaks like this throughout the day. :)

Katie's First Day of School

Annie survived the first day! :)

I think she was a little overwhelmed at the thought we had to do it all over again today! She had a lot of fun and only got lost once. This morning she told Josh that yesterday was her first day so she didn't know where things were but today she knows. Phew, that's a relief. Annie's teacher told me Annie had a great day yesterday and that she was so sweet. That made me happy!

Katie went into the 3-day preschool program with the same teacher she had last year. She knew many of the kids in class and it wasn't a huge transition. This morning she insisted on dressing herself. I recently boxed up all her size 3 clothes but after looking at this picture, I need to box the size 4 clothes too! I have to include 2 pictures because you need to see her silly brown shoes. They're cute shoes but they don't go with little cotton shorts!! I made the mistake of telling Katie a few weeks ago that they were her school shoes so she insisted wearing them this morning. I've changed quite a bit since baby number 3. I'm not willing to fight about clothes anymore, it's not worth it. I might think Katie looks silly but she thinks she looks fantastic and I think that's more than me putting up a fight and her beginning her day with tears.

Annie's First Day of 1st Grade!!

What a day! Annie started first grade today. Can you believe we still don't have a camera (other than our video camera and you bet that thing was rolling) and I completely forgot to borrow a camera. I do have a couple pictures I took from my phone that I'll share. :)

Annie was very excited for first grade, ... I was not. I'm sort of a mess. I can't believe that my little baby is going to school ALL day. As I type, I keep watching the clock to see when I can pick her up. As Josh and I drove away, I told Josh I felt like someone had ripped my heart out and left it in Annie's classroom for all to step on. Am I sounding morbid? Yes, ... but I don't know a better way to explain how I felt.

Something that made me feel better was watching Annie get into her classroom and watch her excitedly run to her desk and put her little desk accessories away (yes, I'm a sucker for school accessories that are completely unnecessary). She turned to the girl sitting next to her and said, "Don't worry if your pencil breaks, I have flower pencils in this box and I'll let you use one of mine." So cute! This was reassuring after I was watching the kids sit in their class line for morning flag looking miserable. It wasn't looking pretty. The picture is below.

On Friday we attended the OCAR(Orange County Association of Realtors)Picnic in the Park in Huntington Beach. We had a great time with all the little games and even came home with 4 goldfish... let's see how long we can keep this group alive. A local paper was there taking some pictures- we took these pictures off their site. Nathan stopped lunch for a second to give the cameraman his best smile. Later Annie was studying the details of the facepainting while deciding what she should do.

LOOK Lisa.....I've tried to be reasonable....but since you have decided to go so long between postings......I've decided to post for you. Not sure if you are aware....but I am the proud keeper of our family photos. And right about now....you are probably regretting your decision months ago to give me posting ability on your blog.....which I am going to take full advantage of! Now.....I have not included any pictures of your "golden year" (cerca 11 years old......) but I will if you don't have something new up within 24 hours. The Haircut

So, ... Katie just walked passed me and I noticed a chunk of hair that was missing from the front of her hair. After she tried blaming the haircut on Annie, I explained how important it was to tell the truth and not to cut hair. I told Annie and Katie that it's never okay to cut our own hair. Annie replied in all seriousness, "Yeah, and anyway Daddy didn't cut his own hair, it just fell out."

Happy Father's Day!

The girls were so excited for Father's Day! They gave Josh a little football and after playing "catch", we realized that the girls didn't know how to catch. I think the pictures will do a good job explaining. It looks like we'll be practicing "catch"!!!

Umana Family Picnic

Annie's school had an end of the year family picnic. It had a western theme but we really don't have western themed clothing so only Annie went somewhat with the theme. The highlight for Nathan: a cupcake. The highlight for the girls: butterfly tattoos.

We celebrated Nathan's Birthday at home a few days after his actual birthday (because was teething and had been too grouchy to sit through cake on his birthday and the days after). He LOVED the tactile experience the cake offered and didn't mind eating it too! :)

Happy Birthday Nathan!!!

Mom and Dad finished their mission in Anaheim and were returning to Utah on the day after Nathan's first birthday. They met us for lunch on their way out for a birthday lunch for Nathan. I can't believe it had been a year since my parents were in the room with Josh and I when sweet Nathan was born!! It's unbelievable how quickly time flies!!! We are so grateful we had them so close for the past 15 months but we will miss them desperately!!!

FYI - Katie is dressed as Tinkerbell because it was "dress yourself" day at preschool. Katie wanted to be Tinkerbell, ...

Nathan was obviously a little overwhelmed with the excitement but quickly settled down after he realized what came with the excitement, ... yummy ice cream!!

NO BABY

I found this sign glued (yes glued with a glue stick) to Annie's bedroom door. I asked her and she said she was playing with her Polly Pockets and didn't want "Nay-nate" to come in her room and choke on any of the small pieces. I thought that was very sweet. I love that girl!!

**Sorry for the lack of pictures, our camera was definitely ruined after Josh's fishing trip (read below if you haven't already). We've yet to buy a camera, I want an expensive one, ... it could be a while!

American Idol

Thanks to our friend's, we were able to go to American Idol tonight. Josh and I had a blast! Unfortunately, we only have this one picture my mom took when we dropped by her place to pick up my kids. I had high hopes of creating a really cute poster but Josh scared me out of making it when he asked if they are even still allowing posters. I've noticed there's not many posters anymore, ... I didn't want to stay up late last night to make a poster they would make me throw away upon entering! So, I had Josh throw the board, some pens, and my glitter and glue into the trunk just in case posters were allowed. When we got to the line this afternoon for the show, I could see other people with posters!! So, I created a quick one in line for my cute little David Archuletta. I love that kid! I was going to write a little something for Brooke White on the other side but decided not to at the last minute. Turns out we were in the front (where people stand) and I was backed up right to Brooke's family! Her husband, grandparents, and aunt. They were so friendly and cute and I felt bad while we were talking that I wasn't holding a sign for Brooke. They were cute though! I felt awful when Brooke was put in the bottom three and began sobbing, ... most of the crying was during the commercial break.

Anyway, we had so much fun. Unfortunately, I haven't even seen the show yet so I'm not sure if my poster even showed up. I only held it up twice and it's not all that clear what it says. Oh well, next time (and I am very hopeful of a next time), I will go all out!!!
