Flatstock & Bumbershoot Music Fest! Yes yes! This is the most relaxing and chilled out of the Flatstocks, even with the high and delicious coffee quotient.

Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival is Seattle's biggest and super swell music & arts event, and is the host to Flatstock Poster Convention & Show once again. Come see me and some truly crazy talented contemporary rock poster artists from around the world showing our work, selling prints and posters, and talking about the whole gig, man. It's quite cool. I will also be debuting new posters and TWO brand spanking new tshirt designs all for sale, so come say hi!

Screens'n'Spokes: I'm so happy to be a part of SnS 2008. SnS is an MS Bike team that raises money for the Multiple Sclerosis cause via their MS 15o mile bike ride from Philadelphia, PA to The Jersey shore and also via the SnS art show featuring some really swell poster artists donating their time and design skills, with over 30 participants and posters this year. NYLON Interview with me in the new NYLON Magazine! The right-on-right-now NYLON Magazine did a really great 2-page feature on 6 poster artists called "Picture The Sound" in the current June/July issue written by Fiorella Valdesolo. A: Oh my goodness HELL YES. It's been a productive winter here at the hamlet of strawberryluna. I'm also sporting my very first double booth - so please dear god come help fill it up.

WHOOOOOO!!!! Just in time to wave bye-bye and jaw nyah nyah to the end of winter it's FLATSTOCK 16 POSTER CONVENTION time yinz. FLATSTOCK is a fantastic and popular event in conjunction with Austin TX's SXSW MUISC freakout where over 120 working poster artists from all over the globe convene in a place called The Convention Center to sell, show, and talk about our work. Most works are hand screenprinted, with lots of salty tales of late nights, ripped screens, inky-blowouts and the occasional crying into a lonely beer can. All for the love of art and music.

It's a real dweeb fest! And by 'dweeb' I mean really damn cool. FLATSTOCK 16 is a gathering of professional poster artists working with bands, managers, record labels and venues, and are all a part of the The American Poster Institute which has been working as a professional collective organization since 2002.

So come see us! FLATSTOCK 16 will be held for 3 full days in the Austin Convention Center conveniently located near all of the HubBub Bub.

FLATSTOCK 16 Hours:
Thursday March 13th from 1pm to 6pm
Friday March 14th from 11am to 6pm
Saturday march 15th from 11am to 6pm

There seem to be so few poster show extravaganzas on the East Coast, right? Well cry no more. HugeBigDealRad Sweet: The Beauty of the Contemporary Rock Poster show is right around the corner in Baltimore, MD at the University of MD's Art/Sociology Building. The is opening on Wednesday February 6th. And, to boot! There is a HugeBigDealRad event alllllllll day long on the Wednesday the 6th called Sweet Booth, where me and a very choice selction (how I was chosen...we'll never know) of nationally stellar poster artists. Happy New Year to you! Well, it November wrapped up nicely and December was a whirlwind. I hope that you returned all of your returnables by now and had a lovely set of holidays. I'm buried in books, it's my dream come true. Well, next to being buried in puppies that is.

Thanks bunches! A super heavy-duty thanks to Real Simple Magazine for whittling down an impressive list of over 300 items for their 2007 Holiday Gift Guide to just over 60, including my Alphabet Prints this past year. Sweet Poster Show: Boy howdy, sweet indeed. I am in a fantastic show called Sweet, The Graphic Beauty of The Contemporary Rock Poster at the University of Maryland running from February 6th - March 29th. Note! it's the opening day reception that is a bit special than the next kid. Many of us participating poster artists will be there for Sweet Booth, a mini-Flatstock meet'n'greet event where we'll be selling some works and talking to friendly folks like you from 11am - 7:30pm. As if the event needed to be cooler, John Foster (author of the superb New Masters of Poster Design) will be lecturing. Four Seasons Art Print Project: The smarty-pants fellows at Mile44 hatched this crazy idea to have a 4-way print exchange project where 4 studios each work on a season, make an edition of trade 'em out. I will be Spring! Fresh as a daisy! The other seasons are master masterminds Mile44 as Summer, the peppy team at Hero Design Studio are handling Autumn and the lovelies of Delicious Design League will wow you with Winter. Flatstock 14, Seattle 9-1 to 9-3: Eeeeeeee!!!! I loved Seattle so much on my first visit last year that I am doing the cross-country trek again. Yeehaw. Flatstock Rock Poster Convention is a great time. It goes on concurrently with Seattle's fantastic Bumbershoot Music Festival from September 1st to 3rd and I'll be honest, I swiped the following copy from the Flatstock site as I couldn't write it better myself: " You've heard the sordid tales of deluxe poster prints sold to you the fans by the artists themselves, now come see for yourself. FLATSTOCK is free for everyone with a Bumbershoot pass so come one come all. Show up early and be ready to be overwhelmed with amazing posters (you might want to bring some dough too since you won't want to leave empty handed.) FLATSTOCK is an all-ages event. "

Art Shows Abound!

Paper Dolls, Art Show: is awesome. This is the 3rd annual ladies of rock posters art show in Salt Lake City, UT of posters and art prints by women working in the gigposter field. Which, let's be honest, is fulla dudes. But we love them! The Paper Dolls show not only rad, but is a great fundraiser for The Women's Art Center in SLC, which fosters creativity in women. I'm darned proud to be invited back to participate. 50% of the proceeds from each sale benefits the WAC so please, if you are in the area, go to the show. See something that you like? Help out. Yinz Got Posters: Holeeeee CRUD. This is a mini-announcement, more details to follow soon. But let me tell ya, We over at Artists Image Resource, aka AIR are working up a fantastic gigposter all-stars art show. Boy Howdy. As of today, we have 25 of the best and brightest poster artists signed up, and more to join in too. Yinz Got Posters will hang for the month of September. Keep a sharp eye out here for more details.

Flood'n'Print: Yes! Another gallery show. Amazing. Flood'nPrint is a show of gigposters that will be held at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle, Aug. 27th Oct. 26th presented by API and SVC. All participating artists have two of their selected posters in the show, and they will be for sale. Flood'nPrint is open to the public, with an Opening / Artists Reception and print demos by the incredible Andy MacDougal of Squeegeeville on Friday, August 31st, 7pm - 10pm. For gallery hours and questions please call the SVC at 206.623.1560 and come on out for the opening. All us dorks will be there.

Pitchfork & Flatstock 13 - Chicago, IL: OOooooooOOooohh yeah. It's that lovely time again, time for more poster, music and carnie awesomeness. It's Flatstock 13 time, yinz. Flatstock 14 / Chicago is part of the super cool Pitchfork Music Festival happening July 14th & 15th at Union Park. If you have tickets or manage to trade a kitten for them (as Pitchfork is sold the fudge out) come over to the shady grove of poster artists. I'll have loads of new prints and posters as well as silly undies, totes, and tees. Come say hi, lollygag, whatever it is that you do when you are in public. I promise to say hi back!

Renegade Craft Fair: Heck Yes! June 16th-17th I will be chillin' under a rad tent this year at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn, NYC. This year, the fair is being held in the historic and just all around neato WPA project wonder, McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn, NY. 250 vendors will be selling their handmade crafts in this FREE awesometacular (it's word, you know it is) craft fair. It's like the Oscars and Woodstock and...and...the Moon Landing of cool indie fairs. Stop by and say hello! Hours are 11am - 6pm June 16th-17th.

Tinymeat: is neat. No, really. Tinymeat is a glorious little outfit straight outta Miami, FL that produce really cool wallets, passport cases, and other rad items. The Big News here is that I am doing an Artist Series piece for them this month. Wheeee! TFP: The Becomes New Again. So, you may have heard that the long-time, well known and loved Philadelphia venue, the Theatre of the Living Arts (the TLA) was recently rechristened under a new name, with an old flavor - The Fillmore Philadelphia. Nostalgia and funny "F" vs. "Ph" linguistic jokes aside, it is a big change. But, did you know that the TLA was once also called The Crystal Palace and The Palace Theater in the 1940's? No? See? Change can be good! Why am I telling you all of this? Why indeed! Yes, there are baskets of free apples at each show, but you may not know that carrying on another Fillmore tradition, The Fillmore Philadelphia will be giving away free posters with entry to many of their shows. True story!

With that background so carefully laid, it's time to say that I am stinkin' happy as a muddy puppy to be doing the poster for the lovely Air show (5/8/07.) It's only their 2nd poster. If you don't get one at the show, I will have a very limited, signed, quantity available for sale after the show. A preview of that poster will be up on my site later this week.

IWYS: Also, copies of the I Want Your Skull 'zine are now on sale, but hurry! Cause they tend to go very very fast. Everyone has one, a skull I mean silly, but not everyone will have a copy of this 'zine, so hurry up, silly.

Lucille: Finally, I'm working on a station ID for Muzak. Yup, that Muzak. The station is named "Lucille" and is a Blues station, with a focus on the Chicago Blues style. When she's all ready to go, I'll post up my work in the Fluky section, so be on the sharp-eye for that one.

Sasquatch! Festival Poster - I'm beyond tickled to be included in the Sasquatch! Festival poster line up this year. My poster is for (eeee!) Loney, Dear who is a lovely Swedish pop gem of a singer/songwriter, if ya don't already know, yo. Sasquatch! is a great supporter of posters, consistently matching up bands with poster artists for their annual series and they've got a swell little gallery here under "gallery > 2007 posters" of the participating poster artists work thus far. Keep checking back as new works are added daily!

I Want Your Skull - You heard me. I'm one of 25 artists featured in issue #2 of I Want Your Skull which is a rad little magazine featuring, you guessed it smartie - skull art. It's pretty badassed and I have an exclusive skullustration in this issue. Each issue has a screenprinted cover (by Ferg this go around) and this issue will also have a set of glow-in-the-dark prints and a glow-in-the-dark postcard set. Check that link above for details. Hey! I'm leaving the 'Burgh and I'm going to Austin!

The world-famous Flatstock 12 Poster Convention will be hap'n in Austin, Tx from March 15th-17th and it's FREE to come check it out. Flatstock is a huge gathering of poster artists that occurs during South By Southwest Music Festival at the Convention Center in Austin, right near all the action.

Myself and close to 100 poster artists will be in attendance, showing our work and talking to you. So come see almost more than you lil eyeballz can handle. Yeah, that's a direct challenge. This year's list of attendees can be found HERE and be sure to look out for FOUR rad screenprinting demo stations out there on the streets, sponsored by Yaris.

News & Events:
Sound in Print is a poster show coming up March 12 – March 30, 2007 at the Todd Gallery of Middle Tennessee State University and I will have 5 posters in the show, curated by Sasha Barr of The New Year. 4/5 of my posters appearing the show will be brand spanking NEW as well. Oh yeah...that's right! Go take a looksee because it's going to be a great big show. I'm thrilled to be included.

Gigposters.com Card Deck #3 I was selected to be in the the Playing Card Deck series put out by gigposters.com which is forthcoming in March of 2007. There are 56 designers, duh, and I am doing...The King of Hearts. YESSSS! More information about the deck, the designers, and the series and the drama can be found here for your enjoyment.

Flatstock 12 is coming up fast, and I'm working on wrapping up some poster and CD cover work (both to debut here starting in March) in anticipation for heading to sunny Austin, TX for a few days work and fun. Handmade Arcade: HEY! Mark this date - 11/11/06 that's THIS Saturday, November 11th from 11am - 7pm and come to the 3rd annual Handmade Arcade in Pittsburgh's awesome Construction Junction. This is a going to be a HUGE event this year. The Handmade Arcade is, as may be obvious from the name, a juried craft fair of all things handmade. Only in it's 3rd year the HA has close to tripled in size.

So nice, I'm seeing Union Park in Chicago twice, and dangit, it's like deja vu all over again. I'm packing up posters, prints, tees, undies, totes, snaxxx, and drinkz. Why? Doodz, Flatstock 9, Rock Poster Convention is on and it's this weekend, July 29-30th lovelies. Flatstock is snuggled lovingly with the Pitchfork Music Festival. Thanks to everyone who came by at Intonation Fest in Chicago. A town so nice, I'mma go there twice this summer. Yerps, that's right. At the end of this month, in just a few short weeks I'll be packing up & driving Mid-West again for the rock poster show Flatstock 9 which is coinciding with the Pitchfork Music Festival at Union Park. Sound Familiar? It's the same park Intonation was held in, silly goose. A whole slew of of poster making geeks will be in the Southwest corner of the park in TENTS. Yes, TENTS. Tents = shade.
