My B-day dinner...

I had a lovely (early B-day) dinner this past weekend. First, Rebecca from Apartment Therapy dropped by my home to shoot it....looking forward to seeing that! Then, my B-day dinner party ....here are a few pics I wanted to share. This year, we decided to place labels next to the food because there were a few Vegans there & it made it easier. I also bought some gorgeous Martha Stewart pom poms (from Michael's Craft Store) instead of balloons for decoration. Oh, & for dessert we purchased the Sprinkles cupcake mix at William-Sonoma. Most of us stayed inside the house, being that it was 106 degrees here in Las Vegas. Enjoy!

Dear Golden is a cute little vintage shop (and one of our sponsors) that I really love! Of course, the items I posted here are some of my favorites from their shop. As you see below, I've been working on the main guest bedroom & ever since I wrote about Michelle's bedroom from Rubie Green - I wanted a brighter & sunnier-looking room for my guests! I bought the headboard fabric & my guy helped to upholster it. We painted the walls a bright white by Behr to bring in more light) & it worked! I chose this little side table with mirrored glass & still haven't fully decided what to place on it yet. One thing I am struggling with is what artwork to place (if at all) over the headboard....hmmm. I was thinking of a variety of small frames in clusters, like 5-7 of them. Any ideas?? In the meanwhile - have a HAPPY 4TH of July weekend!

Centsational Girl is one of my favorite blogs to visit. Kate, the author does many DIY project (and I'm not kidding when I say many) she is constantly impressing me. There used to be nothing in this area of my kitchen, now it's a pretty & stylish breakfast nook for two. The scoop-back chairs are from West Elm (originally yellow) & I painted them in 'La Fonda Mirage' by Valspar. Chevron (zig zag) rug by West Elm (on sale in store) & the Finley Pendant Lamp by Crate & Barrel. Oh, and I got the table on sale via West Elm as well! The flowers may be a tad bit too large, I may bunch them up & place them into a smaller vase. What do you think so far?

Tonight I had a craving for cupcakes.....so I baked these gluten free dark chocolate ones. I don't know about anyone else, but when I have a chocolate dessert I don't like being bothered. I like to drift away into that dreamy state it puts me in.......it's like falling in LOVE all over again.

Please take a look at designer, Jimena Rios. Her Jewelry is definitely one of a kind! I bought one of her sterling silver rings last year and it's still one of my favorite pieces. Mine was customized to say "Be Strong". Lately, I have been thinking of getting her 'guapa' necklace, (it means 'Pretty' in Spanish)....but, you can gave her engrave your name instead! Below (2nd pic) is one of my guest bedrooms & this is the fabric I decided to go with from Fabric Supplies via Etsy. It's around $7.00/yd versus $90/yd for the Rubie Green 'Marilyn' fabric. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the RG, but perhaps I'll save that expense for the master bedroom. I think this fabric I chose is close enough & my guy may even try to re-create the same headboard in her photo (with the cute shape). Either way, I'll keep you all posted with photos of the projects in my home!
