A couple of kick-start-the-day-with-a-serious-cuppa-coffee drawing session this Monday morning with my sketchbook, a tall Americano and a fresh croissant. Good way to start the working week, I guess... especially with the grim winter weather we had this morning.

A peek at commercial work: A detail from an illustration I did for a listed property investment company... just liked the way these guys on top of the diving board came out -- both body language and silly swimming aids.
This dwarf I doodled up basically by accident while inking a Madam & Eve comic strip yesterday... popped on to the page quite spontaneously when I heard my colouring assistant Maja talking about having to draw Snow White's dwarves for a children's book she's illustrating.

Some more things that somehow ended up on the pages of sketchbooks and pieces of drawing paper somebody carelessly left lying around... serves them right, I say.

And before you ask, the elephant's caption just fitted his expression, not my state of mind at that moment -- I was actually enjoying a yummy cappucino in a coffee shop in hermanus at the time :-)

I get new pen nibs.. start messing around with them, and look what happens. It was partly work avoidance -- delaying the start of today's session on a project I'm frankly tired of.

Ok, ok... not first time I used those nibs ... I drew some Madam & Eve cartoons with them Thursday and Friday -- but this was first time I just "played" with them a bit.
