I included an M5 hole near the rear axle (left and right), and on the seat stay near the rear brake (left and right). I will design a special rack but until then it might be possible to find a rack that can be adapted. The other question people raise is for a tail box. This is a little tricky, there are some interesting design concepts I am John Tolhursthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05902369635518932308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31339069.post-34531291666260786442007-09-14T12:50:00.000+08:002007-09-14T13:54:16.331+08:00Silvio ReleasedThis week Silvio began shipping. Silvio is a significant step in the evolution of the bicycle. For the first time, a moving bottom bracket bicycle with full body ergonomics has been designed from scratch for commercial production, encompassing all the learning and experience of building hundreds of mtb derivative cruzbikes. There is very little variance between components in terms of their form and function. The Silvio strategy is to keep ALL the standard road bike components/wheels and merely mount them on a different frame that solves the ergonomic issues. We take this purist approach because we can. We embarked on a redesign of the front triangle, which might not sound like much but involved a number of design challenges. The principle of the design is that the pivoting front elements actually pivot around the BB shell and the front axle, rather than on seperate pivots. To help that process, its become traditional for my wife to give me a book or two at Christmas! :) I've just finished reading Heat by George Monbiot, a book about Global Warming and how we are able to respond to the challenge of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Or at least, how the UK could respond to the challenge there.John Tolhursthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05902369635518932308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31339069.post-1162645408990658312006-11-04T20:29:00.000+08:002006-11-06T11:26:44.670+08:00Order book opens for SilvioAfter some toing and froing with interested customers, we have decided to open an order book for Silvio. Lots of fast recumbents push a small wheel out front, and I think pulling a small wheel behind you is fundamentally more stable than pushing one in front."Thanks Mark for that question and for the general appreciation of what's been achieved John Tolhursthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05902369635518932308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31339069.post-1160999114220168132006-10-16T15:49:00.000+08:002006-10-16T19:47:49.016+08:00Silvio weight and performanceBryan Ball from Bentrideronline came by our stand at Interbike and mentioned us here: article at bentrideronline.com (Thanks Bryan)Like many, Bryan liked the Silvio particularly and put some pictures of it up there. The goal for the weight of Silvio is to be under 10 kg (22 lbs) At the moment, it weighs 11.5 kg, give or take a little.
