Firefighters Urged to Sign Memorial Book for Fallen Heroes -- Sperian Fire Will Donate $100,000 to NFFF, CFFF in Their Names

SMITHFIELD, RI – June 1, 2009 – Firefighters across the U.S. and Canada are urged to show their fallen brothers & sisters – and their families – that they care by signing a Web-based Memorial Book to honor those lost in the line of duty.

By signing the Memorial Book at www.sperianfire.com, firefighters will help make a $100,000 donation by Sperian Fire possible to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The donation will be made by Sperian Fire in the names of the firefighters who have signed the Book.

“We’re asking firefighters everywhere to visit the Memorial Book and to sign their names to show their support for this donation – in memory of those who have fallen and in support of the families they left behind,” said Anne Chambers, Channel Manager for Sperian Fire.

“We’re not asking for financial support, only for your emotional support and less than a minute of your time,” she noted.

Book signers can also offer words of encouragement or remember individual fallen comrades.

Chief Ronald Siarnicki, Executive Director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, said “This is a wonderful, thoughtful, and very much appreciated effort.” He signed the Book in honor of “fallen friends who will always remain in my thoughts and prayers.”

Captain Robert Kirkpatrick of Mississauga, Ontario, President of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation said “the donation is the largest the CFFF ever received. Each and every firefighter should sign the Memorial Book to show their support. And it will take less than a minute to show that support.”

Dissolution is a compendial method used to measure a drug’s rate of release from its dosage form. It is a complement to other analytical assays – potency and related substances (Microtest already offers both) – that characterize the dosage form.

Dissolution is typically used:
· To optimize drug delivery rate during development studies
· For use in routine QC analysis for lot release and to measure lot-to-lot variability
· For use in stability studies to study the effects of time/temperature/humidity on the dosage form
· To compare one dosage form to another (different formulations, different processes, analysis of competitor's samples)
· To estimate release and absorption rates in humans after an in vitro - in vivo correlation is established

Dissolution is a sample preparation technique. Samples still need to be analyzed separately, usually by Microtest’s HPLC or UV Spectroscopy testing. Typical samples are oral dosage forms, although it can also be used on topicals and transdermal systems.
