COMEDY BATTLE ROYALE THIS FRIDAY (X 2)!

Join us this Friday for a comedy improv shake down as we feature not one but two of the hottest local improv troupes as they battle it out for laughs. LBC regulars One Size Fits All will pitch their comedic might against Purdue's own Crazy Monkeys. And they'll do for TWO big shows! Early show starts at 8 pm and the late show kicks off at 10:15 pm. Cover for each show is only $6!

TRIPLE PLAY OF MUSIC SET FOR SATURDAY, SUNDAY & MONDAY!
We've got a fantastic line-up of music designed to rock your weekend and kick off next week. On Saturday, Root Hog, led by the well-respected Lafayette guitarist Pat McClimans, will lay down their blues and soul inspired rock w/ special guest Shady Side Allstars. Show time is 9 pm. Cover is only $5. On Sunday, Mom and Pop Productions present the unique talents of Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz with special guest The Memphis Belles. This will be a risque, burlesque show backed by the hard-rocking sounds of Vancouver-based Big John Bates. Don't miss out! Show time is 8 pm. Tickets are on sale now- $10 advance/$12 day of show. And finally, on Monday, April 20, we'll be hosting ska legends The Slackers w/ special guest Green Room Rockers for a 420 SKA Fest. Show time is 9 pm. 1. FULL SCHEDULE THIS WEEKEND

We've got a full slate of entertainment on tap this weekend. Tonight, don't miss the return of Indiana's hottest jam band, Groovatron. Show time is 10 pm and cover is only $7. On Saturday, Mom and Pop Productions presents JB Beverley and the Wayward Drifters w/ special guests Junkrod and Delphi's own Double A Daddies. A great triple bill set to start at 9 pm. Tickets are on sale now for only $10.

We've also added a couple of shows due to the closing of Scagnoli's :-( Look for the Indy-based band Healing Sixes to perform here at LBC on Saturday, April 11. Healing Sixes has been receiving considerable attention and airplay being featured on Bob & Tom, WTTS and Lafayette's own WKHY. This should be a great show and a bargain at that- cover is only 5 bucks! A local opener will take the stage at 9 pm, with Healing Sixes set to perform at approximately 9:20 pm.

2. LBC's TAX RELIEF PROGRAM

While our government goes wild spending your hard-earned dollars, we're doing our part to offer some relief. On Wednesday, April 15 (Tax Day), we'll be serving up $2 pints and $5 Brewery Burgers all day long. We'll also host "Appy Hour" with 2-for-1 appetizers available from 4 to 6 pm. Give yourself a break with some Tax Relief from LBC!

3. MOSEYS ARE BACK BEGINNING MAY 9

After an outstanding innaugural season, the Mosey Down Main Street events return to downtown Lafayette. A series of fantastic FREE street fairs, the first Mosey of the season is set for Saturday, May 9, from 6 pm to midnight. Come down and experience all the sights, sounds, smells and tastes that downtown has to offer. Restaurants and merchants, musicians and street performers, craftsmen and curiosities are all part of this great scene. Join us for a fantastic night, and by the way, did we mention that this is a FREE event?

4. CURRENT & UPCOMING SEASONAL BEERS

We're currently offering a trio of much-sought-after seasonal beers: Marley's VSOP, Digby's Irish Stout and Equinox Ale. Marley's VSOP is a Baltic style porter (VSOP stands for very special old porter) that has been aged for three months on Jack Daniels barrel wood. The Digby's Irish Stout is a classic dry stout- smooth, dark and creamy when served from our authentic beer engines. The Equinox Ale is our salute to spring and is a hearty and hoppy ale featuring a refreshing citrusy hop blast contributed by massive additions of Amarillo and Centennial hops. Hurry down for a taste as both of these seasonals will go quickly.

On deck in the world of LBC seasonals, we've got a batch of our delicious Maifest. Brewed in the mode of a Munich Dunkel, this malty lager features hearty quantities of dark Munich and a dash of crystal malt balanced out with Willamette and German-grown Saphir hops. Look for a tapping around the first of May. Also, look for a cask-conditioned, dry-hopped sneak preview of the Maifest to be featured for Firkin Thursday on Thursday, April 30.

5. ON TAP NOW

Ouiatenon Wit, Prophet's Rock Pale Ale, East Side Bitter, Tippecanoe Common Ale, Eighty-Five, Black Angus Oatmeal Stout, Equinox Ale and Marley's VSOP are all currently pouring on draft. We're also serving cask-conditioned Digby's Irish Stout and Weeping Hog Pale Ale.

UPDATED MENU ROLLS OUT SEPTEMBER 2

With the pending change of seasons, we felt it was time to freshen up the menu. As such, look for an updated version to be released on Tuesday, September 2. While sticking with the popular "brewspaper" format that we adopted, we've added a few new items to both our regular offerings and our $5 Lunch Deals. One change we've incorporated is to focus more on locally produced products. To that end, we've added a delicious Brat & Kraut Sandwich produced by Lafayette's own Beutler Meats and more bison options with our new Double Bison Deluxe Burger. Our bison is organically raised & grass-finished and is sourced from The Buffalo Ranch in Buffalo, IN. We've also made a change in our flagship beer line-up (more info below) and updated some of the informational content of the menu.

15TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

It's hard for us to believe it, but this September 17, will mark 15 years of brewing at LBC. In honor of 15 Years of Love & Hoppiness, we'll be hosting a week of festivities beginning on Monday, September 15, and culminating on Saturday, September 20, with a blow-out show featuring Wayne "The Train" Hancock. Also, look for a week of food and beverage specials, give-aways and more. Highlights include: $1.50 mugs of Tecumseh Rootbeer all week; Wednesday, 9/17- $1.50 pints & $15 Bleu Cheese Crusted Filet Dinner; Thursday- Members Only BREW CREW Party on our 2nd floor w/ FREE pizza & appetizer buffet and a special tapping of a keg of 1996 Big Boris Barleywine; Friday- FREE 'Appy Hour Buffet from 4-6 pm; and so much more.

FALL FESTIVAL APPEARANCES

In addition to our 15th anniversary festivites, look for LBC beers to be featured at a couple of local events this fall. We'll kick off the season at the Layflats Arts & Music Festival at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater on Saturday, September 13. Look for us under the beer tent- we've even got our own stage this year! Later in the month, you can find us with all the sights, sounds, smells and tastes at the annual Feast of the Hunter's Moon. In addition to serving our Tippecanoe Common Ale and Hunter's Moon Pale Ale, we'll also be putting on our 18th century brewing demonstration. Be sure to plan to spend time at each of these fantastic local events.

BREWERY NEWS

We've had such a tremendously positive response to our latest offering, Ouiatenon Wit Bier, that we'll be adding it to our flagship line-up. This Belgian-style wheat ale is brewed with 100% USDA-certified organic ingredients. We combine pilsner and wheat malts with German Saphir hops and organically grown coriander seed and curacao orange peel to create a refreshingly tart ale with hints of banana, clove and citrus. Look for it to become a regular offering in the coming month.

Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, August 28, we be tapping a firkin of Tippecanoe Common Ale. Tapping will be at 6 pm sharp! Get here early to ensure your enjoyment of this fine cask ale.

Get ready for some first-rate Latin jazz as this incredibly talented group of musicians assembles for another LBC session. With members scattered throughout the country, it's a rare occasion that these guys get together to jam. However, they'll be doing just that tonight here at LBC. Come on down and feel the heat! TASTE SET FOR SATURDAY

For the 15th consecutive year, we'll be hosting a pair of booth at this year's annual Taste of Tippecanoe. Look for both booths to be set up on Main St. directly in front of the entrance to the Chase Bank building. Our food booth will be offering up tasty Pulled Pork Beer-B-Que Sandwiches, Tecumseh's Brewhouse Rootbeer & Rootbeer Floats while the beer booth will be pouring Prophet's Rock Pale Ale, Tippecanoe Common Ale, Maifest Dunkel Lager and Black Angus Oatmeal Stout. As always, our beer booth offers the best beer value at the event with a 16 ounce draft priced at only $4. See you at the Taste!

PINT FOR A PINT SUCCESS STORY
A big THANKS! goes out to everyone who participated in our annual Pint for a Pint blood drive this past Saturday. We had 31 willing donors who gave of themselves (literally) in order to help support the Indiana Blood Center.

MOSEY DOWN MAIN, AGAIN!

After a fantastic inaugural turn-out, the Board of Works has approved another two dates for the Mosey Down Main Street event: Saturday, July 12, and Saturday, August 9. Come on out and see all the great things downtown has to offer! Main Street, from 6th to 9th, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 pm to midnight, and local merchants, bands and restaurants will be filling the area with music, food, sidewalk sales, dancing and much more.

BREWERY NEWS

Welcome, Matt! Our new brewer in training, Matt Williams, is being put through the paces by LBC Brewmaster Greg Emig. Matt joined the brewery staff on May 19, and has been enjoying the rigors of day-to-day life behind the glass. He'll get his first taste of festival action at this weekend's Taste of Tippecanoe, so stop by and say "hi" to our newest brewer.

Bottler on the fritz- Unfortunately, availability of our bottled products has been quite spotty of late due to some malfunctions with our bottling machine. We've had to ship the control panel off to Canada for some much-needed repair work. We'll get it up and running as soon as possible after the return of the panel. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, June 26, we be tapping a firkin of Bourbon Barrel Select Pipers' Pride Scottish Ale. We've added a heaping helping of bourbon-soaked infusion spirals to the firkin to add a smooth bourbon & oak punch to the brew.

1. 2ND ANNUAL LBC OPEN SET FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 7

The date is set for our 2nd Annual charity golf outing. This year's event will again take place at the Lafayette City Course with a shotgun start at noon. Lunch will be served at the course courtesy of Scagnoli's Cajun and BBQ beginning at 11 am. Entry fee is $300 per team and includes greens fees, carts, lunch, raffles, beer coupons* and soft drinks on the course. We'll also be giving out prizes for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin. As always, proceeds from this event will benefit LAURA'S KIDS- a not-for-profit company dedicated to providing financial assistance to various children's organizations. Sign-up sheets are currently available here at the brewpub and at Scagnoli's Cajun and BBQ. We should also have them available on line beginning Monday, May 12. Space is limited- get your team entered today!

2. LENDING A HAND- WITH PERKS!

We've got some fantastic opportunities to help out members in our community through several events on our upcoming schedule. First up, we've got a Crisis Center Benefit Show featuring Fergus Daly Band, Trouble With Monday with special guest Scott Greeson set for tonight on our 2nd floor stage. All proceeds from this event go to help support the Crisis Center and their mission. Then on Friday, May 9, we've be hosting the White Picket Fence Project featuring the Conrad Bone Band. Proceeds from this event will go towards a Habitat for Humanity built house for the Britton Family. Next up, we're hosting a community night in which LBC will donate 10% of our gross sales on Tuesday, May 13, to New Community Schools. In June, we'll be hosting another community night on Tuesday, June 10, in which 10% of our gross sales will be donated to the White Picket Fence Project. Finally on June 14, we be hosting our Pint for a Pint Blood Drive in conjunction with the Indiana Blood Center. From 11 am to 4 pm, you can sign up to donate a pint of blood (the blood mobile will be parked right out front) and you'll receive a coupon for a free pint of LBC beer* or rootbeer. Stop by for one, or more, of these events and help support our local organizations. You'll enjoy some fantastic live music and/or some great food and beer as a perk!

*Must be 21 years of age or older to receive alcohol beverages.

3. 15th ANNIVERSARY PLANS- UPDATED

On September 17, 2008, we will be celebrating our 15th year of brewing great beers in Downtown Lafayette. While we don't have all the details laid out yet, things are beginning to take shape. First, we've got our 15th Anniversary beer brewed and in the tanks (see more info below). Next, we were fortunate to be able to re-schedule the Wayne "The Train" Hancock show to close out our anniversary week on Saturday, September 20. Finally, we've officially decided that Pint Night on Wednesday, September 17, will feature $1.50 pints to commemorate the 15 years we've been in business. More events are being planned, so check back as more details become available.

4. BREWERY NEWS

We've got some fantastic seasonals in the works for the coming months. First off, we'll be releasing our annual batch of Maifest early next week. This Marzen-style brew features dark Munich malt and a modest dose of Hallertau hops to provide delicate balance to this malty lager. In June, we'll be releasing our annual batch of Summer Solstice Kolsch Bier. A lighter, German inspired brew, this beer features a beautiful pilsen malt and the noble Saaz hop to create the perfect summer quencher. Also in the works: our 1500th batch (which will also serve as our 15th Anniversary beer) is in the tanks and will be ready for our 15th Anniversary Celebration festivities the third week in September. There are also rumors circulating about an organic agave wheat beer. Stay tuned for more details.

In other brewery news, long-time LBC brewer Chris Johnson will be leaving his post effective May 9. It's been a great run with Chris, and we wish him all the best in his new pursuits. Upon his departure, LBC brewmaster/owner Greg Emig will be returning to his roots in the brewery while he gets LBC's latest hire up to speed with the brewing operations. Matt Williams will be relocating from eastern Missouri to begin his LBC training on May 19. "I'm excited about getting Matt up and running in the brewery. He definitely has the work ethic and beery frame of mind to succeed in this industry. This change-over also gives me the opportunity to pull the boots back on and kick around in the brewery again," commented Mr. Emig.

Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, May29, we be tapping a firkin of double dry hopped Eighty-Five. We've added a second dose of Chinook hops directly to the firkin to lend an extra aromatic punch to the brew. And to complement this tasty brew, we'll also be featuring the tasty sounds of Al Gerth for another Firkin Lounge performance starting at 7 pm. Good beer, good tunes- a fantastic combination!

On Tap 5/2/08- Prophet's Rock Pale Ale, East Side Bitter, Pipers' Pride Scottish Ale, Tippecanoe Common Ale, Eighty-Five, Black Angus Oatmeal Stout and William Henry's Porter. We're also dispensing Weeping Hog IPA from the handpull.

1. POST-MARDI PARTY: BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO PLAYS THURSDAY!

Sure Mardi Gras ended this past Tuesday, but it's always a great time to bring in "the world's greatest party band", Buckwheat Zydeco. Straight from Lafayette, Louisiana, to Lafayette, Indiana, Buck and the gang will bring their world-reknowed zydeco sound for your dancing pleasure. And best of all, we've got the band set to go on at 9 pm sharp, so you can enjoy a great evening out and still be fresh for work the next morning! Tickets still available.

2. WINTER WARMER 2008 PRIMER

We're as excited as ever for this year's LBC Winter Warmer: Barleywine & Strong Ale Tasting, so we thought we'd spread some of the enthusiasm with a few trinkets of info on this year's festival.

The Beers: Let's start out with the really important stuff! Our brewery line-up this year features beers from 12 Indiana brewers as well as a guest beer (Three Philosophers) from the Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY (courtesy of Terry Schmitt and Controller Services, Inc). Our local homebrew club, Tippecanoe Homebrewers Circle, will have representatives manning a booth, too. The Indiana brewers (in addition to LBC, of course): Alcatraz, Back Road, Barley Island, Broad Ripple, Mad Anthony, Three Floyds, Upland, Brugge, Shoreline and the state's two newest breweries- Half Moon and Powerhouse.

The Music: We've brought in a new band this year. Local party favorites Big Willy and the Naked Bus Drivers will be performing for WW'08. We look forward to their great line-up of classic rock tunes.

The Food: Once again, we'll be serving up the some of fine fixin's at our Beer-B-Que Bar featuring mouth-watering pulled pork (prepared by Lafayette's own Hogmaster Bob), some of our own Santa Fe Black Bean Burgers, coleslaw and chips. Remember: A good meal helps soak up some of those beers!

The Raffles & Games: Everyone will receive a raffle ticket with their admission to the event. During the evening, we'll draw numbers for some fun prizes donated by the attending brewers. Check the white board to see if you ticket is a winner! We also be hosting The Keg Grip Challenge again this year. For a $2 donation, see how long you can hold onto the spear of an empty keg before dropping it. The winner in each men's (holding a half barrel keg) and women's (holding a quarter barrel keg) will receive at least a case of their choice of either Tippecanoe Common Ale or Black Angus Oatmeal Stout. I'm also working with the other packaging breweries that are attending to up the ante on the prize. Barley Island has already committed to providing additional beer for the winners.

THE FREE TAXI RIDES: Please make sure you DO NOT DRIVE after this event. We will be providing free taxi rides to area residences. We'll have 2 cars and a van from Four Star Taxi parked right across the street from LBC to take you home. Get together and cab it home- and don't forget to tip your driver. If you're not going to take a cab, make sure you have some other form of SOBER transportation to get you home- or just walk. DO NOT GET BEHIND THE WHEEL AFTER THIS EVENT! 1. BISON BURGERS & STEAKS UPDATE

For you bison fans out there, we've got some good news. As our previous bison farmer has been unable to keep up with our demand, we recently entered into agreement with The Buffalo Ranch based in Monticello, IN, to begin providing for our bison needs. Not only are they an Indiana-based operation, but they also are certified grass-fed and organic producers. We will be transitioning to 5-1/3 ounce burgers once the change-over takes place. We look forward to renewed supply of quality Indiana-raised bison burgers and steaks in the near future. We should see our first delivery of the new product late next week. Thanks for your patience.

2. MUSIC THIS FRIDAY: THE WILDERS

We've got another fantastic show lined up as The Wilders, w/ special guests The Woodstove Flapjacks, pay a visit to LBC's 2nd floor stage this Friday. The Wilders' playlist is peppered with original country, bluegrass, hillbilly songs, and fiddle tunes, and also includes many of the classic country favorites heard in the early days of the Grand Ol' Opry radio show. Witnessing a performance by The Wilders is an exciting experience not soon forgotten. The members huddle around a single microphone. When the time comes for a solo, each player moves with clockwork precision -- they are artists at making each instrument and vocal line mix perfectly through their posture and position in relation to the microphone. There's plenty of unplanned humor as well. Never ones to take themselves too seriously, the band deals with the calamity of a string break or a high-humidity-detuned instrument in an often hilarious way. Because of this natural sense of humor and humility, smiling faces are a familiar sight at any Wilders show!

3. THE MILLERS ADDED TO MUSIC CALENDAR

We proud to announce that we've recently added a show with Lafayette's first family of rock, The Millers, to our live music schedule. On Saturday, February 23, come check out Clayton, Cole, LD & Larry, as they rock the LBC. It's been too long, and we're very excited about this show!

4. HOPS SHORTAGE: THE LOWDOWN FOR LBC

We've fielded a lot of questions recently regarding the widespread reports in the media about a world-wide hop shortage. Most of the news reports are accurate in reporting that a combination of bad crop years, decreasing reserves and loss of acreage being farmed have created the "perfect storm" of events leading to somewhat dire conditions regarding the availability of hops to the craft brewing community. Here at LBC, we have been contracting our annual hop supply well in advance and have secured adequate supply through 2008. We are still waiting to hear back on our contracts for 2009 and 2010, but we anticipate market conditions should improve a bit after this year. Bottom line: you keep drinking it and we'll keep brewing it!

It's hard for us to believe that this event has grown to be so popular, but it's true! This year's ticket allotment for our annual LBC Winter Warmer: Barleywine and Strong Ale Tasting sold out in a mere 4 days. Wow! For those of you who will be in attendance, look for more good times and great beers featuring the following breweries: Broad Ripple, Alcatraz, Brugge, Barley Island, Mad Anthony, Shoreline, Upland, LBC and Indiana's two newest breweries- Half Moon and Powerhouse. We've also got some fantastic new entertainment lined up for this year's tasting: Big Willy and the Naked Bus Drivers will be our featured performers serving up a mix of classic rock covers and beer-drinking tunes. And of course, we'll also be offering up our Beer-B-Que bar; commemorative tasting glass; raffles; FREE taxi rides home* and the return of the Keg Grip Challenge. This year's proceeds will be donated to LAURA'S KIDS- a not-for-profit company dedicated to providing financial assistance to various children's organizations. All in all, it should be another exciting night!

2. GREAT MUSIC ON TAP THIS WEEKEND

We've got two great shows featuring five regional bands on tap for this weekend. Tonight, we'll be hosting WBAA's Winter Wonderjam 2008. Brought to you by Purdue's NPR affiliate and their Local Music Show, Winter Wonderjam will feature the sounds of The Fuz, The Twin Cats and Freek Johnson. Show time is 8 pm and cover is only $9. On Saturday, we'll be hosting a regional twin bill featuring two great bands from Northwest Indiana. First, groove to the sounds of Jassy Grazz beginning at 9 pm, and then get down to the smooth jams laid out by Chester Brown at 11 pm. Cover for the Saturday show is only $6.

3. BUSY WINTER/SPRING SCHEDULE ON THE CALENDAR

We've got a host of diverse and talented musicians on the calendar for the coming months. Look for fantastic live music by the likes of The Wilders, The Woodstove Flapjacks, The Big Swing Band, Pink Noise, the PMG, Groovatron and Cornmeal to perform on our 2nd floor stage. We'll also be hosting a couple of Friends of Bob shows featuring Asylum Street Spankers and The Redstick Ramblers and a couple shows in the Lafayette Music League Strange Brew series. And don't miss out on your monthly dose of improv comedy as One Size Fits All will be performing on the fourth Friday of each month through May. You voted us Lafayette's Best Live Music Venue for two years running, and we're doing our best to live up to that title!

4. BOUNCING BABIES

December was big month for babies here at LBC. Congratulations go out to our brewer Chris Johnson and his wife, Jes, on the birth of their boy, Jack Robert, on December 18; and to our catering coordinator Kate Olakowski and her husband, John, on the birth of their boy, John Arthur, on December 22. Both sets of mom and baby are doing great. Welcome to the world, boys!

Being our most-anticipated event of the year has sold out well in advance for the past 6 years, folks are clamoring to know the date and when tickets will be available for the 2008 event. We're please to announced that the date is set for Saturday, February 9, 2008, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Tickets will go on sale in time to make great Christmas gifts for the beer geek on your list: Monday, December 17. Priced at $35 in advance, we greatly encourage folks to get their tickets early as there are only a limited amount available, and we consistently sell out 4-5 weeks prior to the event. BREW CREW members can show their membership card to receive a $5 discount on the price of the tickets- one discount per member. Purchases of Winter Warmer tickets are limited to (4).

Also, look for our NYE Party tickets to go on sale on Monday, December 3. Tickets are priced at $10 advance/$12 day of show. Our NYE Party will feature the red-hot honky-tonk sounds of none other than Moonshine Mason and the Rot Gut Gang. Special guest the Double A Daddies will open the show. Join us for downtown Lafayette's annual Christmas celebration this Saturday as Dickens of a Christmas makes its seasonal return. Enjoy fantastic food specials including our infamous Cratchett's Corn Chowder, Yankee Pot Roast and our delicious Smoked Porchetta. And of course, no holiday celebration would be complete without the release of our annual batch of Christmas Ale. 1. FIRKIN LOUNGE CD RELEASE PARTY

We'll be hosting a very special edition of Firkin Lounge tonight in conjunction with our firkin of Barrel Select Tippecanoe Common Ale: Al Gerth will be releasing his new CD "Imperfections and a Couple of Love Songs" tonight. Catch Al as he performs selections from this new release and enjoy a pint, or two, while enjoying the tunes.

We will be closed on Monday, September 3, in observance of Labor Day. Have a fun and safe holiday weekend, and we'll see you again on Tuesday, September 4, to kick off the fall!

A. Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, August 30, we will be tapping a delicious firkin of our Barrel Select Tippecanoe Common Ale. We'll be aging the brew over some new French Oak Infusion Spirals that we recently purchased. We'll be tapping this firking at 6 pm on our 2nd floor. And to complement this tasty brew, we'll also be featuring the tasty sounds of Al Gerth for another Firkin Lounge performance starting at 7 pm. Don't miss Al's CD release party tonight at Firkin Lounge! Al will be featuring tunes from and selling copies of his recently-released "Imperfections and a Couple of Love Songs". Good beer, good tunes- a fantastic combination!

The basics: The date is set for Friday, August 17, with a shootgun start at high noon. Format will be a 4-person, best-ball scramble. The host course will be the Lafayette City Course. Someone could win $10,000 for a hole-in-one on the 188-yard, par 3, 15th hole. Other prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt. Dinner at LBC after the outing is included in the entry fee. Proceeds from the LBC OPEN will benefit LAURA'S KIDS, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing financial assistance to various children's organizations. 2. MAD FUN IN MADTOWN

Our brewery staff will be hitting the road this weekend to take part in the annual Great Taste of the Midwest Beer Festival. Presented by the Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild, this is one of the premiere public tasting events in the country featuring over 100 breweries, 500+ beers, a cask conditioned tent, live music, a brewers dunk tank, food vendors and more, all on the shores of Lake Monona in lovely Madison, WI. We'll be passing boots at the Essen Haus on Friday night, hitting the unbelievable farmer's market on Saturday morning and pouring tasty LBC brews (and tasting our share, too) on Saturday afternoon. Stop by our booth and say "hi" if you were one of the lucky 5,000 folks to get a ticket to this year's party (they sold out in less than an hour!).

3. NEW SEASON OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT STARTS AUGUST 24

That's right! We'll be kicking off another great season as "Lafayette Best Live Music Venue" beginning the weekend of August 24 & 25. Look for the return of the zany improv antics of One Size Fits All on Friday the 24th, and the glorious bluegrass and old time music of The Woodstove Flapjacks with the Fergus Daly Band on Saturday the 25th. We've got a tremendous line-up of music in store for the coming months, including appearances by: Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Toubab Krewe, The Samples, Michael Kelsey, Ekoostik Hookah, Groovatron, The PMG, Chuck Prophet, The Mekons and the list goes on. Our next edition of the Evening with Boris dinner series is set for this Friday at 6:30 pm. This installment will feature a Cajun theme, pairing five fantastic vintages of Boris with a brewery tour and a four-course New Orleans-inspired dinner. We're proud to announce that our own Tippecanoe Common Ale was awarded a Gold Medal at the recent Indiana State Fair Brewer's Cup competition. We are extremely pleased that the judges found our best seller to be worthy of their top rating, as well. And talk about timing! (see below)

Our recent release of 12 ounce bottleds of Tippecanoe Common Ale and Black Angus Oatmeal Stout has been met with tremendous enthusiasm and has kept the brewery staff working well into the evening keeping up with the demand. In fact, demand has been so great that we've delayed our release into area liquor stores and other establishments until we can get our operations up to full capacity. Join us for a day of fun in the sun while sampling beer from small brewers across the midwest and beyond at the 12th Annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival this Saturday, July 21, located in Opti-Park in Broad Ripple Village on the north side of Indianapolis. This year's event will feature beers from over 50 brewers, including a firkin tent of cask-conditioned beers; commemmorative tasting glass; live entertainment; food vendors; games and more. Proceeds from this annual event go to support the Optimist International and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We do have a limited number of tickets available here at LBC. They are $30 advance.

5. "PINT FOR A PINT" SUCCESS

We'd like to thank everyone who took the time and came out to donate blood in our "Pint for a Pint" Blood Drive that took place this past Saturday. We had over 30 donors who exchanged a pint of blood to receive a free pint of LBC Beer or Tecumseh Brewhouse Rootbeer. Your donations help support the Indiana Blood Center and their mission to provide lifesaving blood and blood components to 46 member hospitals throughout central and southern Indiana.

1. ON STAGE THIS FRIDAY: GREAT AMERICAN TAXI

The electric-Americana group Great American Taxi is one of those brilliant, rare gems on the club and festival circuit- a fun, danceable jamband with great original songs. Since parting ways with legendary jamgrass pioneers Leftover Salmon, Taxi driver Vince Herman has been writing and collecting new classics to add to his vast catalogue of southern swamp-rock, underground country, and Guthrie-tinged political satire culled from over 20 years of traveling the North American continent. Guitarist and songwriter Jefferson Hamer writes new rock and indie-country songs that recall the 6 and 12-string psychedelic twang of the Byrds and Gram Parsons. Founder and keyboardist Chad Staehly contributes literate, melodic tunes in the vintage country rock tradition. With additional vocals and a powerful big-room feel provided by drummer Jake Coffin and bassist Brian Schey, Great American Taxi has enough top-shelf material to keep even the most devoted, traveling fans wondering what could possibly come next. While it's impossible to predict- the band has welcomed Little Feat, YMSB's Jeff Austin, and even Coolio onstage as special guests, and has played impromptu covers of songs by the Black Eyed Peas, Frank Zappa, and the Beach Boys- fans are turning out in rapidly-increasing numbers to hear Taxi play their signature songs. No other ensemble performing today moves so effortlessly across the roots-rock spectrum. Through it all, they keep the audience dancing and occasionally, laughing along and that is why, in little over one year together, Great American Taxi has emerged as one of the most impressive live acts in the jam-rock field.

2. FIRST ANNUAL LBC OPEN SET FOR AUGUST 17

After years of requests from loyal LBC patrons, we've finally got the mechanics in place for our first ever LBC OPEN golf tournament. The basics as they stand at this juncture: The date is set for Friday, August 17, with a shootgun start at high noon. Format will be a 4-man scramble. The host course will be the Lafayette City Course. Dinner at LBC after the outing will be included in the entry fee. Proceeds from the LBC OPEN will benefit LAURA'S KIDS, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing financial assistance to various children's organizations. With the major elements in place, we're now working on the finishing details to get the ball rolling. Look for more details and sign-up information in the coming weeks.

3. "PINT FOR A PINT" BLOOD DRIVE ON JULY 14

On Saturday, July 14, we'll be hosting the Indiana Blood Center's Blood Mobile in our first "PINT FOR A PINT" blood drive. In exchange for your donation of a pint of blood, you will receive a coupon good for a free pint of LBC beer* or our Tecumseh Brewhouse Rootbeer. Additionally, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your blood donation is greatly needed. The Indiana Blood Center provides blood and blood product to 46 hospitals. Central Indiana hospital patients need more than 3,000 units of blood products each week. Last year, IBC collected more than 140,000 units. Victims of accidents, organ transplants, hemophilia, and trauma cases are just some of the hospital patients who need blood. They are among the many people who need the generosity and commitment of volunteer blood donors like you.

4. BOTTLING UPDATE

As we mentioned in our last edition of Rushing the Growler, we are set to begin packaging some select LBC beers beginning in July. To provide an update on our progress: Our bottle filler has been fully assembled by the good people at Applied Bottling in Victoria, BC, Canada It shipped out late last week and is due to arrive here at LBC on Friday, June 8. We'll then spend a few weeks learning the ropes of its operation and doing some product testing. We're also waiting on final label approval on our initial products, Tippecanoe Common Ale and Black Angus Oatmeal Stout, from the federal government. We anticipate approval on these labels to be granted early next week. From there, the final piece of the puzzle will be our branded six-pack carriers which are due to ship to us on July 9. We are looking to have product out on the market in time for the Indiana Microbrewers Festival on Saturday, July 21. Stay tuned as we announce some roll-out celebrations.

5. BREWERY NEWS

A. Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, May 31, we will be tapping a delicious firkin of our Barrel Select Pipers' Pride Scottish Ale. We'll be aging the brew over a bed of Jack Daniels barrel chips. We'll be tapping this firking at 6 pm on our 2nd floor. And to complement this tasty brew, we'll also be featuring the tasty sounds of Al Gerth for another Firkin Lounge performance starting at 7 pm. Good beer, good tunes- a fantastic combination!

B. On Tap- Whitetail Wheat, Prophet's Rock Pale Ale, East Side Bitter, Pipers' Pride Scottish Ale, Tippecanoe Common Ale, Black Angus Oatmeal Stout, Eighty-Five, Alt Heidelberg Dunkel Lager and Phoenix Strong Ale. We are also dispensing Alt Heidelberg Dunkel Lager and Phoenix Strong Ale from the hand pull.

C. Boris Blowout- In order to make room in our cooler for our packaging operations, we're going to be blowing out some of our vintage Boris inventory in the coming months. Look for some serious specials on past vintages of our Big Boris Barleywine dating all the way back to 1996! This will include some limited edition, wine-barrel-aged Franken-Boris vintages circa 1997-1998. Yummmmmmmmmmm!! More details to come.

1. LBC VOTED "BEST LIVE MUSIC VENUE" AGAIN

For the second consective year, readers of the Journal and Courier's annual Bragging Rights poll have choosen LBC as the area's "Best Live Music Venue". In taking the top honors, the results noted: "With good sound, good lights, ample room to boogie and spiritous beverages on hand, the LBC is a longtime favorite destination for band and fan alike. The bookings have improved incredibly in the past year with a better variety of national and local acts." Thanks to everyone who comes out and supports our efforts to bring the best live music experience possible to Greater Lafayette!

2. BEERS WILL FLOW DURING MOCK ELECTION DAY

Since Tippecanoe County will only be conducting a "mock" election on Tuesday, May 8, the service of alcohol will be allowed at all county permitted establishments. Typically, a prohibition-era Indiana law prohibits the service of alcohol on election days until the polls are closed. This law was originally established under the guise that unscrupulous politicians would "buy" votes by offering free alcohol to those registered voters who, apparently, have no better reason to cast their ballot. While obviously an out-dated and unnecessary law, it remains in effect to this day. As the "election" being held in Tippecanoe County this coming Tuesday features no contested races and is only designed as a test for the new voting procedures, our taps will be flowing from open to close.

3. ON STAGE SATURDAY, MAY 12: WANDA JACKSON AND THE LUSTRE KINGS

We are quite proud to host the "First Woman of Rock and Roll", Wanda Jackson, and her band, The Lustre Kings, on Saturday, May 12. Former girlfriend of Elvis Presely, WANDA has been nominated for the GRAMMY AWARD twice as the best performing female singer. She has been inducted into THE OKLAHOMA COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME, THE ROCKABILLY HALL OF FAME, THE INTERNATIONAL HALL OF FAME, THE INTERNATIONAL GOSPEL MUSIC HALL OF FAME, THE OKLAHOMA MUSIC HALL OF FAME and most recently the GERMAN COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME. She has been awarded THE OKLAHOMA NATIVE DAUGHTER AWARD. Wanda was on the final ballot for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Even Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Elvis Costello, sees Wanda's contribution as the First Woman of Rock and Roll and has written a heartfelt letter to the selection committee endorsing Wanda's induction. Lafayette's own Moonshine Mason and the Rot Gut Gang will open the evening. Don't miss this unbelievable opportunity to witness a part of the history of rock and roll!

4. MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE?

With a group of senior English students from Purdue University going around town polling restaurant, bar and liquor store managers about there willingness to carry LBC beer, there have been a number of rumors floating around lately about the possibility of LBC beers being released in bottled form. In fact, this time the rumors are TRUE! The students were conducting some market research on behalf of LBC as part of a senior project, and we will, indeed, begin packaging our beers in 12 ounce longneck bottles beginning this summer. Look for an initial release of our award-winning Tippecanoe Common Ale and Black Angus Oatmeal Stout to be available from the brewery and other select retail outlets around Tippecanoe County in late June/early July. Long-term plans include the addition of other brands as well as some specialty brews available in 22 ounce bombers. Bottling will be conducted on a recently-ordered filling machine purchased from Applied Bottling of Victoria, BC. We anticipate delivery of our filler in early June. We'll then conduct some trial runs and testing to work out the bugs prior to releasing beer into the market. It is an exciting undertaking for us, and we are proud that we'll be able to offer our fantastic line-up of beers to an even wider market.

1. BEER STUDIES

On Saturday morning, LBC will act as a host site for the Beer Judge Certification Program examination. The purpose of the Beer Judge Certification Program is to promote beer literacy and the appreciation of real beer, and to recognize beer tasting and evaluation skills. Founded in 1985, the BJCP certifies and ranks beer judges through an examination and monitoring process. The examination being held here at LBC is the culmination of a study session led by members of the Tippecanoe Homebrewers Circle. Groovatron will rock you, plain and simple. While total schizophrenia and blatant attention deficit disorder might seem like unwanted ailments in modern times, Groovatron embraces these so called disorders to create a form of music that is part funk, part progressive, and all rock. Powered by the thumping bass of Tony Qualls, the rhythmic intensity of Andy Dumaresq and Steve Pesich, the wailing guitars of Marc Quagliara and Nick Ferrer, and the soulful, sultry saxophone of Tony McCullough, this six-headed beast is sure to satisfy the most savage of musical lusts and entertain even the most discerning of fans.

3. NET IMPACT FUNDRAISER SET FOR APRIL 5

Join us on our 2nd floor on Thursday, April 5, as we host a fundraiser for the Purdue University chapter of Net Impact. Join us for a night of dining, drinking and games on our 2nd floor to benefit the Purdue chapter. LBC will be donating 20% of our 2nd floor sales to the organization.

Two teams of improv players battle it out for laughs and prizes before your very eyes! The players flex their comedic muscles for laughs as they make up scenes, games, and songs right on the spot based on suggestions from you: the lovely and well-dressed audience. Ever wanted to see Mr. T sing a duet with a yeti at the Taj Mahal? You just might get your chance! You get to vote for the winners - an MC calls the plays - prizes are awarded - and... there is always a chance you might get pulled up on stage! Show time is 9 pm. Cover is only $6.

Then on Saturday and in conjunction with the release of our Digby's Irish Stout, celebrate St. Patty's Day with great local music and great local beer! The Lafayette Music League has put together this "Strange Brew" show featuring three talented local acts: Waltz for Venus, The Fall of Rome and State. Proceeds from this event help support LML and their efforts to further the local music scene. Don't miss out! Show time is 9 pm. Cover is only $5.

3. TOP NOTCH LIVE MUSIC ON OUR SPRING SCHEDULE

With the advent of spring, we've got some true stand-out performers on our live music schedule. While we've got music planned for virtually every weekend of the season, we've dedicated the space below to pointing out some highlights of April and May shows.

Tickets are currently on sale for Coffin Case recording artist and Cartoon Network star Unknown Hinson, who is set to make his LBC debut on Saturday, April 21. Self-proclaimed "king of country western troubadours", Hinson's country and western-tinged psychobilly shows are known for being raucous, theatrical and over-the-top. He's been lauded by such celebrities as Matt Groening (The Simpsons), Hank Williams III, Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones. This should prove to be a show the likes that Lafayette has never experienced! Tickets are also currently on sale for the return of long-time LBC performer and local guitar legend, Michael Kelsey, set for his return on Saturday, April 28. Winner of the 2004 Guitarmeggedon competition, Kelsey's performances are a musical feast not to be missed.

We'll also be releasing tickets for our two latest additions to the music schedule in the coming weeks. First up: Friends of Bob will be producing the return of the incomparable Bears on Sunday, April 29. Fronted by one of the most accomplished and well-respected guitarists in the world in the form of Adrian Belew (King Crimson, Bowie, Talking Heads, etc), The Bears initial appearance at LBC back in 2002 was nothing short of spectacular. We eagerly anticipate their return. Second on tap: former girlfriend of The King himself, Elvis Presley, and the woman widely recognized as "the queen of rockabilly", Wanda Jackson, will be appearing at LBC on Saturday, May 12. Twice Grammy-nominated and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame finalist in 2004, Wanda and her band will bring a legendary presence to our stage.

Finally, we'll be closing out the spring schedule with a CD release party from Lafayette's own the PMG on Saturday, May 19. Consisting of veteran area musicians Pat McClimans, Jason Gick and Adam "Cass" Libbers, the PMG has been establishing a new benchmark for local bands. Aside from great musicianship and songwriting skills, the group has great studio/technical prowess : Cass' "day job" is spent as stage manager for the international touring jam band, moe; Jason spends some of his limited free time providing sound engineering services here at LBC; and Pat, what can we say, Endpoint, Metroschifter, MT Rhoades, and the list goes on- this guy has more studio time in than a good chunk of area musicians combined! Early reviews of their new work has been over-the-top positive. Don't miss these phenomenal local musicians on the rise!

4. BREWERY NEWS

A. Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, March 29, we will be tapping a firkin of our immensely popular Phoenix Strong Ale. We'll be tapping this firking at 6 pm on our 2nd floor. And to complement this tasty brew, we'll also be featuring the tasty sounds of Al Gerth for another Firkin Lounge performance starting at 7 pm. Good beer, good tunes- a fantastic combination!

B. On Tap- Prophet's Rock Pale Ale, East Side Bitter, Pipers' Pride Scottish Ale, Tippecanoe Common Ale, Eighty-Five and Copper Top Rauch. We are also dispensing Weeping Hog India Pale Ale and Big Boris Barleywine from the hand pull. 2. INDIANA MICROBREWERS FESTIVAL DATE ANNOUNCED

Mark your calendars as the date for Indiana's premiere beer tasting event of the summer season has been officially release: Saturday, July 21, is the date for this years Indiana Microbrewers Festival. Sponsored by the Brewers of Indiana Guild and held as a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Optimists International, this event is a beer tasting featuring virtually all the brewers from across Indiana as well as a tremendous variety of beers from across the country. Annually, this event showcases over 200 beers from America's craft brewers. There is also live music, raffles, games, food vendors and more! 4. LIVE MUSIC SCHEDULE CHANGES

We've had to make a few changes in some previously-announced show dates on our live music schedule. First, the Max Allen Band show originally set for Saturday, March 10, has been postponed indefinitely. We'll try to get Max and the boys in for a show sometime this fall. Next, we've had to re-schedule The PMG from Saturday, April 7, to the new date of Saturday, May 19. With all the crazy hours and work schedules these guys have, they wanted to make sure they were 100% ready to go with their latest release. As such, we set the new date for May. We highly recommend you make plans to attend this event- early reviews of The PMG's latest material has been over-the-top positive. We're confident they are going to put on one hell of a show!

1. BLIZZARD '07

After a deceivingly mild start to the winter, we finally got whacked with "The Big One"! Here at LBC, we had to shut down for the day on Tuesday and finally got ourselves all dug out to open at 4 pm on Wednesday- just in time for the arrival of our Valentines Day show with Buckwheat Zydeco. Our thanks goes out to Buck and the band for weathering a 200 mile trek on Wednesday (after totalling their tour bus on Tuesday, no less) to put on another fantastic performance for a limited, but wildly enthusiastic crowd. Thanks also goes out to everyone who braved the elements to join us for the show.

Hailing originally from the northern region of the state and the extreme quantities of "lake effect" snow that came along with living within an easy reach of Lake Michigan, it always surprised us how a bit of snow could bring the Lafayette area to a screeching halt. However, we were amazed to see how well-prepared everyone seemed to be for this latest lashing from Old Man Winter. The cities on both sides of the river and the county, as well, did a fantastic job of dealing with the 18 or so inches of snow that got dumped on us. Driving into LBC on Wednesday morning, most of the roadways were more than passable and by afternoon, travel around town was almost back to normal. There was also a great spirit of cooperation, as we saw neighbors helping each other out- shovels and snowblowers working at full tilt to clear driveways, sidewalks and free the occasional stranded vehicle. As much trouble as a big snow can be, it still has a knack to bring out the best in folks.

On Saturday, don't miss our latest edition of the Uncle Johnny's Steam Powered series as we feature local old-time/beardgrass musicians, The Woodstove Flapjacks, along with the howling roots blues revolution of Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. Local acoustic blues/slide guitarist Andy "Catfish" Manes will open the evening. While many may be familiar with the old-time sounds of The Woodstove Flapjacks, you better brace yourself for Lafayette's first-ever appearance of Rev. Peyton. The Big Damn Band brings a hard-driving, "boom chank" roots blues sound that gets your heart pounding. As Mark Green of Cincinnati CityBeat says, "This shit is red-hot!" Show time is 8:30 pm. Cover is only $7.

3. OPEN BLUEGRASS JAM TO DEBUT WEDNESDAY, FEB. 21

Polish up the fiddle... rosen up the bow... tune up the banjo... strap on the six-string... break out the washboard... set your toes to tappin’... just make it down to Lafayette Brewing Co. as we invite young and old, novice and accomplished musicians, long-time fans and newcomers alike to join us for a unique entertainment experience. On the third Wednesday of each month, we’ll host a gathering of bluegrass and string music artists for a free-form jam session begining at 7 pm. We’re very fortunate to have instrument builder, Fiddlers Gathering performer, banjo instructor and all-around kindly gentleman, Ike Bacon’s help in facilitating this gathering.

4. WINTER WARMER 2007- WRAP UP

A big "THANKS!" goes out to all who were a part of making Winter Warmer 2007 another wildly successful event. With the help of a dozen brewers, 200+ enthusiastic beer fans, Hogeye Navvy, Hogmaster Bob, South Street Smokehouse, Sysco Foodservice, The Trails, McPhail Design, LBC management & staff and the generous contributions of time & money from friends & family alike, we were again able to raise approximately $3000 towards the Laura Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year's proceeds should very well allow us to complete our vision of fully endowing this scholarship in order to provide monies for worthy Purdue students in the School of Consumer and Family Sciences for years to come. We are truly humbled by everyone's contributions in helping us reach our goal. THANK YOU ALL!

5. "STEINIES" CANCELED

Unfortunately, we've been forced to cancel our anticipated Pint Nite Short Film & Video Festival due to lack of participation. While we thought this was a pretty solid idea, we simply did not receive enough entries to make it a viable event. We may give it another try in the future.

Two teams of improv players battle it out for laughs and prizes before your very eyes! The players flex their comedic muscles for laughs as they make up scenes, games, and songs right on the spot based on suggestions from you: the lovely and well-dressed audience. Ever wanted to see Mr. T sing a duet with a yeti at the Taj Mahal? You just might get your chance! You get to vote for the winners - an MC calls the plays - prizes are awarded - and... there is always a chance you might get pulled up on stage! Show time is 9 pm. Cover is only $6.

On Saturday, don't miss the return of one of the most popular bluegrass bands to hit the LBC stage: Cornmeal. Heavily influenced by American roots and folk music, Cornmeal was started as a side project over six years ago only to watch it grow into a Chicago institution. Performing tirelessly, Cornmeal prides itself on the energy it puts forth each night creating a live performance that continues to shape itself into a truly unique experience. Steeped in the tradition of musical acts such as Old and in the Way, John Hartford, and New Grass Revival, Cornmeal has proven to be an influential presence in the world of roots music. Cornmeal has consistently evolved its sound and stage performance using bluegrass as a springboard for long improvisational work and songs ranging from country, rock and blues to jazz, funk and disco. While playing a blend of high profile venues, jam-band and bluegrass festivals to thousands throughout the region, the band has shared the stage with such highly acclaimed national acts as THE DAVID GRISMAN QUINTET, JOHN HARTFORD, THE DEL McCOURY BAND, LITTLE FEAT, LEFTOVER SALMON, TONI RICE, YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND, DARK STAR ORCHESTRA, moe, SAM BUSH and UMPHREY'S McGEE. 3. WINTER WARMER 2007- SOLD OUT!

Although it might be bad news to those folks who didn't make it down to purchase a ticket, we are extremely excited that Winter Warmer 2007 is now completely SOLD OUT! That makes six years running that this fantastic winter beer tasting has been a sold out affair. We're looking forward to another excellent event with the return of musical guests Hogeye Navvy; a host of superb beers from some of Indiana's finest craft brews, including- Back Road Brewery, Barley Island Brewing, Brugge Brasserie, Broad Ripple Brewing, Mad Anthony Brewing, Shoreline Brewery, Ram Brewery & Rock Bottom Brewery as well as a booth featuring the works the Tippecanoe Homebrewers Circle; meals from our infamous Beer-B-Q Bar which includes not only LBC-prepared items, but also the tasty smoked pork of Hogmaster Bob and the delicious cole slaw from South Street Smokehouse; some great raffle prizes from both brewers and local establishments including The Trails; and of course, free taxi rides home to area residents. We're also working on a couple more beers and a surprise or two.

4. LBC PINT NITE SHORT FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL

Attention amateur videographers: Think you've got what it takes to be the next big thing? Have you put together a funny video? Just want to have a public viewing of your work? We'd like to hear from you. We're putting together the first LBC Pint Nite Short Film and Video Festival, aka The Steinies, that will feature local amateur videos. We'll be awarding Steinies in the following categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography and People's Choice. Submission of videos is due on Monday, February 12, 2007. 5. BUCK IS BACK FOR VALENTINES DAY

What better way to celebrate that with "the world's greatest party band", Buckwheat Zydeco? Bring your sweetie or just show up with friends for this good time show as the legendary Stanley Dural, Jr., aka Buckwheat, brings the red-hot rhythms of his world-reknown zydeco band back to LBC. The accolades for Buckwheat are almost too lengthy to list. A few highlights include: 4-time Grammy nominee; a top 50 touring act in Pollstar; has shared the stage with Eric Clapton, U-2, Robert Cray, Los Lobos; did a 12-night stand at London's Royal Albert Hall with Clapton; has done duets and jammed with Willie Nelson, Keith Richards, Neil Young, Robert Plant, Greg Allman, Jimmy Buffet, among others; and played at the closing ceremonies to the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics.

A. Firkin Thursday- On Friday, December 29, we will be tapping a sneak-preview firkin of our uniquely smoky Coppertop Rauch Bier. We'll be tapping this firking at 6 pm on our 2nd floor. And to complement this tasty brew, we'll also be featuring the tasty sounds of Al Gerth for another Firkin Lounge performance starting at 7 pm. Good beer, good tunes- a fantastic combination!

3. RETURN OF THE SCHWA

It's with great pleasure that we announce the return of one of the most anticipated bands to ever play LBC: Ekoostik Hookah will make a rare Indiana appearance with a visit to LBC set for Friday, March 2. It's been over a year since the Hookah boys have graced our stage. During that time, the band took a short hiatus and re-connected with original guitarist John Mullins. They now play primarily festival dates, but are in the process of working in a few club shows now and again. We are very fortunate to act as host for their only Indiana appearance. Tickets will go on sale Monday, January 8, for $12.

4. LBC FILM FESTIVAL

Attention amateur videographers: Think you've got what it takes to be the next big thing? Have you put together a funny video? Just want to have a public viewing of your work? Kelsey pounds, pings stings, pops, and pulls music out of every part of his instrument or anything else an arm's length or foot kick away in funky, rhythmic style he call progressive/aggressive acoustic guitar. Guitar wizard/singer/songwriter/performance artist/entertainer all in a one-man-band package, Kelsey performs music for the eyes and ears. Mike bested over 3000 other guitarists to win Guitar Center's "Guitarmageddon" competition in 2004 and performed at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival that same year. He has toured nationally as the opening act for Blind Melon and Dishwalla. Folk artist David Wilcox described Kelsey's show as "Cirque Du Soleil on acoustic guitar". Don't miss this amazing show by Lafayette's own guitar legend!

2. "85" HOCKEY JERSEYS NOW IN STOCK

We're extremely excited about the arrival of a new shirt specifically produced to commemorate our immensely popular hop-alicious ale, Eighty-Five. The shirt is a custom-made hockey jersey- white with kelly green and gold hightlights (the colors of fresh hop cones!). The jersey has our new logo in kelly green, gold & black on the front with a bold number 85 on the back. This new jersey is quite simply the best damn beer shirt out there! We currently have sizes large to xx-large and are waiting on small and mediums (they're on backorder). The shirts do run about a size big, so most folks are buying a size smaller than they would normally wear. Pricing is $45 + tax.

3. ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BREW SET FOR "DICKENS DAY" RELEASE

Our annual batch of LBC Christmas Beer will be release in conjunction with Downtown Lafayette's Dickens of a Christmas festival on Saturday, December 2. This year's brew is based loosely on a German-style Maibock. Brewed with dark Munich, pilsner, crystal and de-husked roasted malts, this beer was crafted using an authentic German lager yeast whose origin can be traced to a classic Einbeck, Germany, bock brewery. We also incorporated Hallertau hops to provide balance to this beautiful malty brew. It is shaping up to be one memorable beer! We'll also be presenting some delicious Dickens-themed food specials to go along with the day's festivities. Look for our Cratchett's Corn Chowder, Yankee Pot Roast and our delectable Ebeneezer's Smoked Porchetta to grace our menu as part of the celebration. In addition, you can catch local crafter, Barbara Welch, caning chairs during the day in our front windows. Make plans now to join in all the fun on Saturday, December 2!

4. WINTER WARMER TICKETS ON SALE DECEMBER 18

Tickets for our highly-anticipated barleywine and strong ale tasting, Winter Warmer 2007, will go on sale Monday, December 18, in time for holiday gift-giving. This annual beer tasting/fundraiser features a variety of big beers from small brewers around the state and beyond. In addition to the phenomenal beverage samples, admission to the event includes: a commemorative sample glass; a meal from our infamous BBQ Bar; live entertainment; raffles; free taxi rides home; and a surprise or two! As always, proceeds from this event benefit the Laura Williams Memorial Scholarship, providing assistance to worthy students in Purdue University's School of Consumer and Family Sciences. Tickets are $30* and have sold out well in advance for the past 6 years, so make plans to get yours early. Limit 4 tickets per purchase.

5. BUCK IS BACK!

One of the most popular artists ever to grace the LBC stage will be making a return visit in February of 2007. Buckwheat Zydeco will present their unmistakable brand of Creole music. Known for their ability to get you on your feet and keep you there, Buckwheat Zydeco is often referred to as "the world's greatest party band". The upcoming show will take place on Valentines Day, February 14. Since it's during the work week, we're going to kick things off at 8 pm. Tickets go on sale Monday, December 4, for $15 advance. Don't miss out- grab your sweetie and get ready to dance to night away to the intoxicating rhythms of Lafayette, Louisiana's own Buckwheat Zydeco.

This brew will be matured on oak chips from a cabernat/sauvignon wine cask to add a delicate, yet discernible, oak character to the brew. Pints from this firkin will be available beginning at 6 pm on our second floor. We'll also be introducing a concept know as The Firkin Lounge on Nov. 30. The Firkin Lounge will feature an array of music to converse and sip pints by featuring local guitarist Al Gerth. Al will be performing from 7 pm to 10 pm. No cover will be charged.

These classic straight-sided pints utilize a new process that incorporates a full-color decal that is actually fired onto the glass and provide a much more durable product than typical screened glassware. These glasses are priced at $4.00 + tax or 4 glasses for $15 + tax. We're also extremely excited about the pending arrival of a new shirt specifically produced to commemorate our immensely popular hop-alicious ale, Eighty-Five. The shirt is a custom-made hockey jersey- white with kelly green and gold hightlights (the colors of fresh hop cones!). The jersey will have our new logo in kelly green, gold & black on the front with a bold number 85 on the back. We've received a sample of the jersey and it is truly fantastic! 2. ON STAGE TONIGHT: LOS BLANCOS LATIN JAZZ BAND- CD RELEASE PARTY!

Los Blancos Latin Jazz Band creates a clean, high-energy sound by fusing elements of the Afro-cuban tradition with contemporary jazz melodies, harmonies, and improvisation. This blend of musical forms will take the listener on a journey from the drum circles on the streets of Havana to the jazz clubs of New York. These gentlemen burned up the stage during a 4th of July weekend visit to LBC while in town recording for their CD. Well the CD is here, and the boys are back to celebrate. Join us for a red-hot evening as we throw down for the release of Receta Original, the lastest offering from Los Blancos Latin Jazz Band.

3. OUR BEST DOUBLE-BILL EVER: OTEIL & THE PEACEMAKERS AND THE LEE BOYS

We couldn't be more excited about our upcoming SWEET SOUL REVIVAL SHOW set for Saturday, November 4. In Oteil and the Peacemakers and The Lee Boys, we've got two incredible bands on tap for the night. Show time is 9 pm. Tickets are on sale now for only $10 advance/$12 day of show. Oteil and the Peacemakers: The world knows Oteil Burbridge as the Allman Bros.’ bassist and as a founding member of Col. Bruce Hampton's Aquarium Rescue Unit. He has also toured and recorded with Gov't Mule. In recent years, Oteil and the Peacemakers have brought more attention to Oteil’s skills as a leader as he fronts a band of talented musicians worthy of praise in their own right. Derek Trucks of the Allman Bros. has called Oteil "the Michael Jordan of bass".

"If you want a simple definition of our music in two or three words, you're screwed," laughs Grammy-nominated bassist and bandleader Oteil Burbridge. "Some things you can't categorize. Good Lord, it's like if I asked you to describe Salvador Dali's style in three words. Come on. I'd have to cover various eras of jazz, funk, R&B, Cuban music, bluegrass, country, gospel, blues ... I'm a musician, so all the stuff that I listen to is going to come out somehow. Everything from Ralph Stanley to Poncho Sanchez, and there's a lot of space between those two."

5. A VERY BRIGHT MUSICAL HORIZON

In addition to the Los Blancos show set for this evening and the above-mentioned Sweet Soul Revival Show set for Nov. 4, we have a truly fantastic line-up of musical artists set to perform here at LBC in the next few weeks. We'll be hosting a Friends of Bob-produced show on Thursday, November 2, featuring the true musical genius of Alejandro Escovedo. Chicago-based Mike Reeb will open the evening. On Saturday, November 11, we'll play host to the roots rock/jamband sounds of The Recipe from Columbus, OH. And to close out our November schedule, our favorite local guitar master/Guitarmageddon champ/singer/songwriter/performances artist (what else can we say?), Michael Kelsey, will grace our stage for a pre-Purdue vs. IU show on Friday, November 17.

A. Firkin Thursday- On Thursday, November 30, we will be tapping a firkin of our what? To be perfectly honest, we just haven't been able to look that far ahead in the brewery at this point, so we haven't decided what our November firkin is going to be. 2. ON STAGE, THIS SATURDAY: MOONSHINE MASON AND THE ROT GUT GANG- CD RELEASE PARTY!

Moonshine Mason and the Rot Gut Gang was formed in March 2004. Their goal is to preserve the heritage and sounds of traditional country music by performing live the music of legends such as Porter Wagoner, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, the Louvin Brothers and others.

Considering the fact that modern "country" radio and television programs generally ignore current releases by the living legends of country music, let alone paying any respect to their classic favorites, it becomes the responsibility of live working performers to remind us of the rich, exciting nature of this timeless music genre.

In short, bands like Moonshine Mason are keeping traditional country music alive for future listeners by performing the classics as well as new, original material. Catch this red-hot CD release party, and you'll know why so many people come out to see Moonshine Mason and the Rot Gut Gang! Indianapolis-based Tumbleweeds will open the evening. Show time is 9 pm. Cover is only $5.

3. MENU UPDATE COMING OCTOBER 23

We're making a few changes on our restaurant menu. Effective Monday, October 23, you'll notice a change in the format- with an easy-to-read font; a couple of tasty new dishes- including a new vegetarian burger, our Santa Fe Black Bean Burger; and the introduction of our newly branded house sodas- which will now be known as Tecumseh Brewhouse Sodas. Our flagship soda, Tecumseh Rootbeer, is the same great rootbeer we've always made. Also look for a couple of new flavors coming to our soda line in the near future, including Tecumseh Birch Beer.

4. 2006 FEAST: A HUGE SUCCESS BY ANY MEASURE

This year's Feast of the Hunters Moon, presented by the Tippecanoe County Historical Association, was a smashing success. Perfect weather along with the sights, smells and tastes of an 18th century French-Indian trading post set the stage for capacity crowds to descend upon Fort Quiatenon this past weekend. In addition to enjoying the fantastic shopping, delicious dining and incredible people-watching, many a thirsty Feast patron stopped by Ye Colonial Tavern to enjoy of pint, or two, of our own LBC ales and observe our frontier brewing demonstration. The fantastic turnout was one of the best in years and left visitors, participants and the Historical Association with smiles on their faces. Thanks to all those who came out to support this tremendous community event! And a big thanks to the TCHA staff and tireless volunteers who donate so much time and effort to make the Feast one of Tippecanoe County's premiere events.

5. OUT WITH THE FRINGE

We've teamed up with the good people over at Purdue Convocations to present a unique post-performance event on October 26. Join us, your friends and the cast of THWAK/The Umbilical Brothers along with members of the Convocations staff for a festive gathering after the Purdue Convos presentation on Thursday, October 26. In addition to the chance to mingle with the show's cast, LBC will be offering half-priced appetizers when you present your ticket stub from the evening's performance. Catch a show, party with the cast and get 1/2-priced apps with LBC and Purdue Convocations!

1. WE'RE BACK!

After a short hiatus to re-charge the batteries (read: fishing and drinking some tasty Canadian micros), Rushing the Growler returns this week with all the LBC brewery news that's fit to print. There's a host of happenings in the coming months, and we'll do our best to keep you up to speed all things involving LBC (and some that don't).

2. ON STAGE, THIS SATURDAY- 9/30: MICHAEL KELSEY

Kelsey pounds, pings stings, pops, and pulls music out of every part of his instrument or anything else an arm's length or foot kick away in funky, rhythmic style he call progressive/aggressive acoustic guitar. Guitar wizard/singer/songwriter/performance artist/entertainer all in a one-man-band package, Kelsey performs music for the eyes and ears. Mike bested over 3000 other guitarists to win Guitar Center's "Guitarmageddon" competition in 2004 and performed at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival that same year. He has toured nationally as the opening act for Blind Melon and Dishwalla. Folk artist David Wilcox described Kelsey's show as "Cirque Du Soleil on acoustic guitar". Don't miss this amazing show by Lafayette's own guitar legend! Tickets are only $6 advance/$8 day of show. Show time is 9 pm.

3. ON STAGE, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4: THE RED ELVISES

Your favorite band! Arriving from Siberia just moments ago, Red Elvises are taking North America by storm. Blending good old rock'n'roll with ethnic music from their homeland, these post fab-four developed the ideal music for beer guzzling and dancing 'til you drop. Strong musical influences include Elvis Presley and his wife Priscilla, Chuck Berry, Spice Girls and speeches by Comrade Fidel Castro. Well... actually The Red Elvises were founded in 1995 by two Russian political refugees, singer/songwriter Igor Yuzov and actor/bass-balalaika player Oleg Bernov in Los Angeles, California. Igor and Oleg met during Russia’s Peace Walk and subsequently played together in a Russian folk-rock band called Limpopo. Believing that one can’t go wrong with "The King" Elvis Presley as an inspiration and with "red" being not only Oleg’s favorite color but the national color of their native country, the band name Red Elvises was created. Actually, it is widely believed that Igor came up with the "Red Elvises" name by seeing Elvis come to him in a dream, wearing a red dress! Igor will neither confirm nor deny the truth of that rumor. If you haven't seen The Red Elvises, you don't want to miss this zany show. If you have, you already know why you need to see them again. Tickets are only $10 advance/$12 day of show. Early show time of 8:00 pm.

4. ONCE A DECADE SALE SET FOR SATURDAY, 11 AM- 4 PM

This will be your last reminder about our first-ever LBC Surplus Sale. We're blowing out a host of new and used inventory at bargain prices. 5. FEAST OF THE HUNTERS MOON, OCTOBER 6 & 7

Our LBC staff will once again take part in the annual Feast of the Hunters Moon festival at Fort Quiatenon on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7-8. This annual event is put on by the Tippecanoe County Historical Association and depicts the lifestyles of an 18th century French-Indian trading post along the banks of the Wabash River. In addition to serving up our fantastic Tippecanoe Common Ale and seasonal Hunters Moon Pale Ale, our brewery staff will be conducting a recreation of a 18th century frontier brew. Complete with wooden mash tun, hand-hammered copper boiler and woodern fermenter, this demonstration features equipment and techniques that early Indiana settlers would have used to produce their beloved brews. You can also enjoy the sights, sounds and delicious food offering provided by a host of participant groups. This a truly fantastic family event that you don't want to miss! Pints from this firkin will be available beginning at 6 pm on our second floor. Firkins of 85 tend to disappear in short order, so make sure you get here early to enjoy this delightfully hoppy brew!

B. Octobeerfest Re-cap- A big "Thanks!" goes out to Blaine, Todd, Jeff and the rest of the crew from Mad Anthony Brewing up in Fort Wayne for the fine hospitality they showed to the LBC crew during their recent Octobeerfest celebration. A beer tasting event much in the same vein as our own Winter Warmer, Octobeerfest 2006 drew a great crowd of craft beer drinkers along with some fantastic entertainment and tasty food served up by MA's own Munchie Emporium. A fun time was had by all- culminating in a massive marshmellow fight towards the end of the event. Make plans to travel northeast for next year's Octobeerfest- you'll be glad you did!
