PT's and Sierra Gold rung in 2009 with a "party like a local" bash on New Year's Eve. The New Year's Eve celebration took place at Sierra Gold on 215 & Aliante Parkway, PT's Gold on Sunset & Ft. Apache, PT's Gold on St. Rose & Eastern and PT's Pub on Sahara & Nellis in the Winterwood Pavilion.

Over the weekend actor and musician Billy Bob Thorton and his band the Boxmasters took to the stage at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. After the show the party moved over to the Wasted Space nightclub where Billy was spotted hanging out with comedian Drew Carey.

Thorton later took the stage inside Wasted Space to greet the crown and hand out playful awards to his bandmates. Later in the evening the band Unknown Hinson took the stage and performed for the audience. Also spotted enjoying the show was comedian Bobby Slayton.

One of the year's biggest events, A Midsummer Night's Dream, took place poolside at the Palms Hotel and Casino this past weekend. This year's theme was "A Masquerade in the King's Court. Guests showed up dressed to impress in sexy Shakesperian outfits and masks. On behalf of the sponsor and lifestyle brand, the "Billionaire Mafia," complimentary cocktails were served up all night, including the "Billionaire Mafiatini." The signature drink consists of Ketel One Vodka, olive juice and a splash of Cizano Vermouth.

The Billionaire Mafia team celebrated the evening at their own VIP table and cabana which was located by the "royal bridge" which guests crossed to enter the party. The Billionare Mafia is a lifestyle brand that offers trendy, hip fashion accessories and apparel for men and women.

The Hard Rock Casino and Hotel once again lived up to its reputation as the place in Las Vegas to see celebs in action. The Joint was abuzz this past Friday night when Prince was spotted in the VIP area catching the performance of Latin singer and songwriter Julieta Venegas.

Checking out the new rock lounge Wasted Space was Playboy Playmate Feb. 2007 Heather Rene Smith. Also seen inside the club was Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, joined by his girlfriend. Spotted inside the Hard Rock as well were Sopranos actor Steve Schirripa who was joined by Jon Lovitz and Richard Belzer.

One of, if not the most, well known acts in Las Vegas entertainment history was the famous Rat Pack. Their antics were legendary and helped set the stage for what we now call "Sin City." Their show was only a great memory to those lucky enough to see it. Until now. "The Rat Pack Is Back" show at the Plaza Hotel and Casino is a faithful and energetic reproduction of their infamous stunts.

As recently noted by the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog:

Sammy is on stage next, his shark skin is shiny blue, and he just about takes over the show. And it would be Sammy’s show if Dean didn’t keep butting in and Joey didn’t try so hard to make Sammy look small, but that couldn’t happen to Sammy. “That Old Black Magic” comes out big and as smooth as silk, and “Mr. Bojangles” still brings a sad joy to the heart. There is something electric about Kyle Diamond’s performance. Perhaps it’s the excitement in his eyes and the pure Sammy Davis Jr. energy that he pours out onto the audience. He makes us as glad to be in the audience as he is glad to be on stage. Now that we’ve been blushed by Joey, boozed by Dean, and seduced by Sammy, we know we will not be disappointed with Frank.

In contrast to the goofy antics of his buddies, David DeCosta walks Frank Sinatra on to the stage with an authority that ends all questions to who is the real star. Looking suave in his expensive grey suit with the small red triangle handkerchief in his breast pocket, he commands and corrals the other players into now participating in HIS show.

After he belts out the classic "That's Life", "Frank" brings up the cast to pull up a stoll and sing some songs. It's just like it was in the Copa Room at the Sands in 1962. The performers do a fantastic job of recreating the voices and actions of the legendary entertainers. Some performances feature different cast members and at some shows even a Marilyn Monroe look-a-like joins the festivities!

There's also a dinner package available and the food is quite good! For anyone that longs for the "Old Vegas" and a glimpse into how Vegas started off being the "Entertainment Capitol of the World" The Rat Pack Is Back is simply a show not to miss!

In a town known for it's unique entertainment one of the more interesting shows currently running in Las Vegas is Menopause - The Musical. The show has been running at the Las Vegas Hilton since 2001. It's a 90 minute production that follows the trials and tribulations of four women that are all in the midst of the big "change."

As the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog recently noted:

Set in Bloomindales in New York City, no menopausal stone is left unturned in this hilarious musical. These four strangers meet in the department store, bond when they realize they’re all going through “The Change,” and become fast friends. The actress is in denial about her age and chalks her mood swings up to being part of the acting process. The businesswoman forgets what she’s supposed to talk about in the meeting she is about to lead, thanks to her menopausal brain fog.

The overweight Iowa housewife hates the physical changes forced on her body and can’t fit into the skimpy lingerie she so desperately wants to buy on her first trip to New York that she hopes will put. Our Earth Mother is way too cranky to successfully meditate any more, so she eats too much and terrorizes her husband instead. The women find relief in their anti-depressants. They all pop a different pill and our hippie downs the St. John’s Wort instead.

Menopause features several hysterical musical numbers that will keep your toes tapping throughout the show. They twist the many famous songs with lyrics that poke fun at such issues like stretch marks, hot flashes and plastic surgery.

The characters are our mothers, our sisters, even us. The characters are captivating and keep the audience captivated throughout the entire show. With their shared experience the ladies form a bond that trancends their own individual lives and which leads them to realize there's no reason to not be happy! At the end the audience is invited onstage to join the party.

Las Vegas has long been known at the "Adult Playground." Part of that reputation is the abundance of "gentleman's clubs" that are here. If there's any ladies have ever dreamed of learning some of the moves that the girls use in the strip clubs, than "Stripper 101" is the show for you. Held in the V theater in the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino, it's a great way to learn some new moves!

As recently noted by the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog:

A group comprised mostly of twenty-somethings but including ladies into their 40s and beyond, most of the 20 - 25 attending patrons seem to instinctively dress sexy and skimpy, dressing the part and embracing the “character” even before arriving. The group is lead into a dimly lit, sultry studio, outfitted with a dozen floor and ceiling supported stripper poles, stacks of ballroom chairs and even a roaring fireplace, creating a cozy corner to warm up anyone feeling the chill of the room (intentionally kept cold to cool the roomful of hot proto-strippers to come). Several benches are arranged around the room perimeter, providing seating to those wishing to observe or whose modesty overwhelms them, although at Stripper 101, this problem rarely ever arises.

Leading the class, former stripper Kindra (who, along with Rachel, alternates instruction of this 1 1/2; hour course) offers a brief introduction on her history and experience. Kindra is a spirited hostess with an engaging, warm and playful personality which the attendees quickly respond to. With a true talent for teaching in addition to dancing, Kindra creates an encouraging, comfortable and fun environment, with the atmosphere kept very tasteful and reassuring.

The show is undoubtly naughty but never nasty. It's more R-rated than X-rated and has a strict women-only policy. Photographs are taken throughtout the class which only adds to the excitement of the night. There's no nudity as well and with a vibe of good-natured fun the participants are quickly at easy with instructors that genuinely have a passion for their craft. All are made to feel welcome regardless of age of skill level. It's a great way to spice up your love life or just a fun girls night out. Don't forget your high heels!

This was a recent "Letter To The Editor" of the Access Vegas Insider Vibe:

My wife and I just returned home from our Vegas trip (6 nights/5 days). We stayed for the first time at the Paris (2 nights) and then 4 nights downtown at Main Street Station. The biggest change we noticed was the lack of people. I know it was the 4th of July week, but the 'people' traffic was much less than before. We asked a floor person at MSS about traffic and she too said the size of the crowds were much smaller than they use to be. My guess as well as hers was, 'all about the cost of gas'.

I think the casinos are helping their bottom line by making slots much tighter, just as the airlines are charging for suitcases and giving less service. It may be time to re-think our Vegas trips. Enjoy your weekly publication.

I agree with you: The gaming properties tried to squeeze tourists too hard during the good times, and it is biting them back during the bad times.

For decades, people would go through hell and high water to get to Las Vegas regardless of the economy. They knew the reward would be reasonably priced rooms and food, plus a fair chance at winning some money.

It is a rude awakening for many in hotel/casino management, many whom have never been here long enough to see a downturn and thought the "gravy train" of the past few years was the norm.

My prediction? Everyone will finally see a return to some of the "old Vegas" way of doing things that attracted so many for so long.

Per July 4'th, it is my opinion that the LVCVA (Visitors Authority) completely botched marketing July 4. Americans see it as a holiday to grill with some friends and watch their local fireworks. If a New Years Eve style fireworks "Tribute To America" kind of show had been set up for The Strip and well-promoted, I'd think we would have had full rooms despite the traditional "backyard grilling" nature of the holiday.

This for a couple of reasons:

1. New Years Eve here is legendary, but ultra-expensive with the highest room rates of the year. Give people a chance to experience a sample of it in July and the word-of-mouth (and desire for a return visit) would have been off the charts. I don't mean a complete "shut down the street" situation like New Years Eve. Simply a coordinated fireworks show well promoted.

2. International visitors would have been drawn to town to experience a "real" American 4'th of July. This could have been marketed to those visitors whose currency is much stronger than ours.

This was a recent "Letter To The Editor" of the Access Vegas Insider Vibe:

Since reviewing things on your site as well as others, it’s apparent that Las Vegas is experiencing a slow down in economy. Gambled money and room occupancy is down, even our paper has reported it in the Sunday travel section. My suggestion is to have the city and casino’s work in conjunction with the airlines to help lower the cost of flights in and out of Las Vegas.

My wife and I travel on the average 4 times a year to L.V., being that we gamble a lot, Hooters has “comped” us for each stay. The travel is what’s costing us and preventing us from going more then 2 times this year so far. An example of price fares form Cleveland to L.V. via Continental airlines – In April it was $ 198. round trip ; in May it was $ 218. round trip; now the cheapest we can travel is $ 438. round trip.

I know airlines are taking a beating on fuel cost, but if the city and casino’s can work with the airlines to help subsidize travel I would bet that more people would come out and reverse the decline in gambling revenue and room occupancy. It’s just a suggestion, for a 4day – 3 night trip we generally add $ 1,500. to the L.V. economy via gambling; food; drinks; and misc spending. Thank you for your time to review my request,

Interesting thoughts. Actually, the hotels are starting to "subsidize" the cost of the flights by slashing their room rates. You end up paying more for your flight, but less for rooms.

I realize that doesn't help those like you who gamble enough to get your stay comped. For those of you who do play enough to get free rooms, I'd strongly suggest writing the hotel you give your action to and simply tell them "Hey... we come and gamble a lot of money, but airfare is killing us and a free room just doesn't make it worth coming out. Is there any way players at are level can get something like a rebate on our airfare, extra free play, or meals?"

Per the city or casinos subsidizing flights:

The Las Vegas Strip isn't even inside the City of Las Vegas and all local governments are experiencing shortfalls. As it is, McCarran Airport (owned and operated by Clark County, Nevada) has one of the lower fees in the nation that they charge the airlines.

Side Note: With 2 million people living here (and using the airport for their travel to other places), a blanket subsidy wouldn't work anyway. Imagine the paperwork trying to figure out how much of a flight was tourists, and how many on the flight were locals.

Hotels have run "junkets" over the decades and/or partially invested in certain airlines. The now defunct National Airlines was partially funded by Harrah's Las Vegas and Rio Las Vegas (prior to Rio being bought out by Harrah's).

I'm going to tell you a little secret: The media reports are overblown. Considering that it is the "slow" time of year for Las Vegas (summer season) and the U.S. is at the mid-point of a recession, numbers aren't down that much. Gaming revenue is only down a few percentage points. Room rates are down quite a bit, but in previous decades, significant room rate reductions in the summer were not unusual.

Gaming stocks are down, but this is mostly because of the "sky if falling on Las Vegas" stories that have spread like wildfire.

Also, how expensive it is to get here depends on what market you live in and what your major airlines are. Some visitors are reporting spending twice as much on airfare. Other markets are reporting only a 20% increase.

Californian's aren't happy about the price of gas, but at the end of the day many of them are used to 45-60 minute commutes do pouring piles of cash in the gas tank is nothing new. Once again, the cheaper rooms are offsetting what they spend coming here.

At the end of the day, new exploration for U.S. oil will start to drive down oil speculation and the price to fly will stabilize (and maybe even come down a bit).

The good news for tourists? I see the low room rates (which were a hallmark of Las Vegas for decades) staying for years to come. Especially with all the new rooms coming online.

For comped players? This will mean more competition for players gambling at the "room comp" level. Thus, the same amount you are playing now will get you comped at a more upscale hotel.

To say that things change here in Las Vegas is an understatment! There's always something new and exciting going on in the entertainment world. One fabulous show which has remained a constant is the Crazy Girls revue at the Riviera Hotel and Casino. For over 20 years this legendary show has entertained millions of people and has secured it's place in Las Vegas history.

As the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog recently noted:

The closest comparison to defining “Crazy Girls” is similar to what people would expect a classic “Golden Age” Las Vegas show to be. The girls perform a variety of acts that are playful and cheeky to sensual and alluring, set to music from the classic burlesque age to more modern songs. “Crazy Girls” keeps it simple, yet captivating, and for regular show-goers on The Strip, it makes for an experience that isn’t going to be found just anywhere else.

When defining “simple”, this means that the show sticks to its core idea of beautiful, half-naked women without delving into a lot of extraneous side acts. That’s not to say that the entire show is made up of just dancing and beautiful women. The show gives the audience a chance to cool down and be entertained in a new way by offering a series of fun card tricks after the opening act, and a longer comedy magic performance by illusionist Tony Douglas.

Crazy Girls gives you a real feal of being at a classic burlesque show with modern touches. There's not much left these days of the "Old Vegas" we all grew up loving but this show is a great throwback to a time gone by. This is an adult show and no children are allowed. If you're looking for an entertainment experience that's reminicent of how things once were, this is the show for you!

Las Vegas has always been known for it's spectatular entertainment. But one show in particular really upped the ante. When Cirque du Soliel opened Mystere at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, it opened up a whole new world for Las Vegas. The show brought a visual & theatrical element that had not been seen here previously. The show opened in 1993 & it's still as exciting today as it was at the grand opening.

As recently noted by the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog:

Like Alice in Wonderland, this shows feels a bit like falling down a rabbit hole into a mysterious world. Though the tremendous physical acts may be the central focus of the audience, the ringmaster, the jumbo-sized baby who found his “papa”, and the clown bring a unique humor to the show. During the limited breaks for the acrobats, the “clown,” who looks more like Albert Einstein than a bozo with a red nose, attempts to play tricks on audience members. Though he has great fun before the show with throwing popcorn and giving what appears to be unwelcome back massages, this clown has no problem separating a couple in order to woo the lady. Though the ringmaster may take him off stage, these brief interludes between the acrobatic performances only intensify the feeling that you have entered a dream.

When these acrobats return, the audience is again amazed at their athleticism and sheer physical strength. These performers take gymnastics to a level far beyond any Olympic champion, demonstrating the full range of man’s physical capabilities when bravery, dedication, and training morphs into tremendous talent. These men and women are not ordinary circus performers. Instead, they are a shining example of the human spirit.

Mystere tells a story of the power of life and death, and of how over time man has the ability to change. The acrobatics are a strong visual part of the performance, so much so that their literal meaning might be not completely recognized. But make no doubt it is a strong message of the level of humanity that mankind can achieve. The bits of comedy places in key parts of the show are a nice touch to offset the seriousness of the messages portrayed throughout. You'll not soon forget your visit to the "circus" and the tremendous emotional experience of the evening. The show is safe for all ages, so no worries if you want to bring the children. Make Mystere a part of your next Vegas trip and live the dream for yourself!

The Smashtime party at Body English nightclub inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas is becoming THE hotspot on Sundays to catch celebrities. The hosts for the evening were Ben Lyons and Sal Maskekela along with DJ Clinton Sparks.

Spotted at this week's Smashtime party was Lauren Conrad, Stephen Colletti, and Lauren "Lo" Bosworth from the MTV hit series "The Hills. They had their own VIP table out on the dance floor & partied late into the night. Also among the partygoers were was the group Three 6 Mafia who later entertained the crowd with a surprise performance and were joined by Lyons and Bosworth.

The Smashtime hosts were later joined at their table by E! president Ted Harbert. Also checking out the festivities that evening was Khloe Kardashian from the E! reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She joined Conrad, Bosworth and Colletti at their table. Also spotted in the crowd was boxer Zab Judah.

Mamma Mia is one of the excellent shows currently running on the Las Vegas strip. You can catch the show at the Mandalay Bay resort.

Having no information about the true identify of her father, Sophie, the blushing 20 year old bride-to-be, invites the three men her mother had written about in her 1979 diary to her upcoming wedding. This is the backdrop to the captivating musical Mamma Mia, a story of a young woman who attempts to find her father and her own identity at a pivotal moment in her life. Sophie’s mother, Donna, who is also unsure of the identity of her daughter’s father, is upset by the unexpected arrival of all three men the day before the wedding.

A naive Sophie mistakenly believes that she would know her own father the moment she meets him; however, deciding who her father is from appearances and personality alone proves to be a difficult and emotional task. As all three men decide to step up to the plate and walk Sophie down the aisle, Sophie faces a harrowing dilemma with her fiancee, her mother, and the three men she lured to the Greek Island where she lives.

Even though the show takes on some important issues, the way they're portrayed is done in a entertaining and humourous way. The costumes are right out of the 70's and you'll get a kick out of the high energy dance numbers. If you haven't figured it out, the show is based around the music of the 70's supergroup ABBA. If you weren't a fan of their music before, you'll surely be one after seeing Mamma Mia!

One of the great things about visiting Las Vegas has always been the excellent entertainment we have here. There's many fine shows for whatever interest you might have. Some of the best value out there are one of the "tribute" shows. It's also a great way to catch several acts on the same bill. One of the best tribute shows is American Superstars which has been running at the Stratosphere hotel and casino for quite a while now.

As recently noted by the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog:

The biggest challenge of successfully impersonating a celebrity not only resides in how well the individual artist’s respective talent can be performed, but also in capturing those personalities, the posturing, and their overall look. When you go to “American Superstars”, you will definitely see Elvis shake his hips, Michael Jackson glide across the floor with his moonwalk, and hear Christina Aguilera belt out that musical range that she is known for. True to Las Vegas style, there is also an ensemble of showgirls who provide back up dancing and vocals for the artists, as well as having a chance to individually shine between each performance. Also backing each act is a full band who rocks out each hit alongside the featured artist.

Rounding out the cast is Darren Lee as Elvis Presley, Chad Givens as Tim McGraw, John Anthony as Rod Stewart, Lorena Peril as Christina Aguilera, and Damian Brantley as Michael Jackson. The cast is very enthusiastic about their performances, encouraging patrons to join in on the fun. Their interaction helps to bring the audience into the spotlight themselves, whether it is coming out into the audience while performing, prompting people to sing along, or even some light-heated joking with the crowd. The tribute artists get into their roles with such a fun attitude, it’s easy to be caught up in the overall good time.

"American Superstars" covers the gamut of musical styles, providing the audience with everything from country to pop to rock 'n' roll, spanning almost five decades of music. Anyone in attendance will surely find something to fit their tastes. Each performer also does a fantastic job covering the particular artist's style and persona.

The finale brings the entire cast of artists and dancers out for a last upbeat ensemble number. Afterward the cast makes their way to the showroom lobby for a meet and greet with the audience and to also take photographs, making the audience feel much more a part of the show.

It's a great choice to add to your Vegas experience. The show is a "clean", family-friendly show as well. With ticket prices on the rise, you'd be hard-pressed to see even one artist for the price of one ticket to "American Superstars", much less all five performers! You definitely get a great bang for your buck here!

With all of the different and varied shows here in Las Vegas it's really tough to stand out. One of the more unique shows to come along is Toxic Audio which is currently running in the V Theater located at the Planet Hollywood casino.

As the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog recently noted:

It’s five singers with no back up band or recorded tracks pumping out “Autumn Leaves” in English, French, German, Korean, Scat, and Pig Latin. Its Paul Sperrazza, a “human beat box,” tearing up the audience like a mix of Jim Carey, Jerry Lewis, and that guy who almost won American Idol last year. It’s also Rene Ruiz, the founder of the group, whose credits include “Forever Plaid,” delivering a unforgettable show to a cheering audience.

Oh and there are 4 other performers making it happen for the audience too; Christine Vienna, Tim Jones, and Heather Friedman, and the “sound guy. The sound guy gets his own song during the show and definitely deserves his own sentence in this review, his name is Shannon Brady. There is no band to coordinate but he’s does a heck of job keeping five very good singers in perfect balance.

You have to like a team of singers who can improv a beat box song about Pat and Debbie Boone and who will play “Jaws” with its audience. As a matter of fact the audience is almost the 6th player in the troop. Four or Five audience members are brought on stage at different times in the 70 minute show, and singers perform in the isles just a frequently

It really is amazing how they can make so many different sounds with just their voices. They do a family-friendly show as well, covering many hits from years past as well as instantly recognizable TV theme songs.

The audience gets plenty of chances to participate too. At several points in the show people are brought on stage to join the festivies and the cast members frequently venture out into the crowd, giving a close up look at how talented the performers truly are.

All in all Toxic Audio is a very entertaining show and if you're looking to see something unique without spending a ton of money this might just be your ticket!

Part of the fun of Las Vegas is you never know what celebrities you'll see out & about. A great place to see some is the Smashtime Saturdays celebration over at Body English located at the Hard Rock Hotel .

This weekend's surprise guest was Grammy winner Akon who took over the mic and wowed the crowd with an impromptu performance. Also spotted among the crowd was Tv's “Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester who was with fellow actors Joshua Lebar and Sebastian Stan. Leighton was pulled onstage by Akon to sing "Happy Birthday" to the event's host at one point! Other partygoers included including “Sopranos” star Steve Schirripa, UFC Champ Rampage Jackson.

The party spilled over on Sunday to the world-famous REHAB at the Hard Rock pool. There, the new crowd favorite Akon once again surprised the crowd with a preformance that lasted over an hour! He had only planned on doing 3 songs but the energy of the crowd kept him going! Once again Akon shared the stage, this time with Smashtime DJ Clinton Sparks, who produced 3 tracks on his latest release. Leighton Meester and friends were once again on hand for the party as were other famous faces like fighters Floyd Mayweather and Rampage Jackson along with NFL players Alex Smith and Sedrick Ellis

Just a couple of thoughts:

Only in Las Vegas could an ad with a sexy babe cocktail waitress along with two other women (and one man) standing poised next to a bed go almost unnoticed! I guess the golf term foursome has a new meaning.
We do need to use less water here in Las Vegas (since we are simply out of water supplies despite thousands moving here each month) and putting out that "do not disturb" sign may not only be a sign you are having the time of your life in a Las Vegas hotel room, but also will help save the planet.

The Riviera's star of "An Evening at La Cage" Frank Marino was the first to congratulate Miss Texas, Crystle Stewart, after she was crowned Miss USA at the pageant. Marino wished her well and gave her some tips on how to be a diva. Marino is the longest running headliner in Las Vegas, has a street named after himself and was the second person ever to be honored with a star on The Las Vegas Strip.

Nevada Winery Announces Release Of The Nevada Ridge Wine

Pahrump Valley Winery announces the release of the first-ever estate bottled red wine in Nevada history. They are the state's oldest and largest winery, fouded in March 1990.

Bill Loken, along with his wife Gretchen, owns the winery. The wine, which they have named "Nevada Ridge," is a 2005 Zinfandel harvested in August 2005. It's the first wine produced solely from grapes grown in Nevada. "“It’s a historical, one-time event for the state of Nevada." Bill states. The winery will only produce about 1,200 bottles of Nevada Ridge. Each bottle will be personally signed by Bill and Gretchen. The wine sells for $75 per bottle and is limited to one bottle per person. There is already an extensive waiting list.

In addition to the new estate grown Zinfandel, Pahrump Valley Winery offers Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Peak White, Symphony, Desert Blush, American Burgundy, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Crème Sherry produced from grapes grown in prime grape-growing areas of California. New reserve wines include a 2005 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, 2003 Paso Robles Syrah and 2003 Napa Valley Chardonnay. Loken has plans to plant more vinyards later this year that will increase the existing vinyard to triple it's current size.

Tours of Pahrump Valley Winery are available most days, starting at 10:30 AM. They also feature a recently expanded tasting room which proudly showcases the 98 national wine awards they've recieved since 2004. The adjoining Symphony's Restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and has been listed on the 2008 Zagat survey.

Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian recently celebrated the launch of her boutique DASH when she hosted the Indulge party at the Body English nightclub inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Also in attendance was Khloe's sister Kim Kardashian along with her brother Rob, who star along with Khloe in the E! network's hit reality show "Keeping up with the Karsashians."

Spotted among the Body English crowd were cast members of MTV's "The Real World" and "Road Rules" shows, as well as athletes from the Los Angeles Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks hockey teams.

Wayne Brady: Making %@It Up! is one of the more unique shows currently running on the Las Vegas strip. The show is over at the Venetian Hotel.

As the Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog recently noted:

A true Vegas variety show incorporating singing, dancing, acting, comedy and even that most perplexing of art forms: mime, Wayne Brady’s Making %@It Up takes the theatrical task to the next level, with fully improvised performance vignettes interspersed among prepared musical tribute performances.

Dialing the pressure up even higher, show business virtuoso Wayne Brady has to not only make everything up on the spot, but also make it consistently funny. Fortunately, Brady delivers with heavy doses of witty, sharp, topical humor, keeping even a Monday night audience in complete hysterics.

Even before the show thought you are cleverly incorporated into the action as the ushers hand out bogus song titles and odd phrases which may be called upon later in the show for Wayne to use for comedic relief or even making up song lyrics on the spot!

Brady does use the audience to his advantage as well, often commenting on someone's wardrobe or asking questions which are incorporated into the act. His ability to just make up jokes or break into song spontaneously is quite a site! He also sometimes ties one skit into something else later in the show, much to the amusement (or embarrassment) of the audience member the original bit was taken from!

The show is not purposely racy or vulgar but depending on the direction Brady is heading in there's some adult themes and language, but it's all relevant and not just for shock value.

The show shows off Wayne's unique talent as a master of improv and unlike other shows no two performance is ever the same! It helps keep the show fresh and exciting which makes it a perfect fit for Las Vegas!

Food Network's Rachel Ray Films Vacation In Las Vegas

Food Network hit Las Vegas at OriginIndia Restaurant and Bar on Paradise Road. Rachael Ray stopped by to film her new show "Rachael's Vacation". The Food Network set up the shoot a week prior and though OriginIndia was expecting them, it was a surprise that Rachael Ray was in attendance. Owners Raja Majid and Alena Olevic were pleasantly surprised to meet the hostess and were greeted by Mrs. Ray with huge smiles and hand shakes.

Every few minutes there were bursts of laughter as Mrs. Ray charmed the staff. Rachel Ray talked about Origin India's prominence as a local favorite and the beautiful presentation of the food. Mrs. Olevic and Mr. Majid were thrilled that she enjoyed the OriginIndia experience. As Rachel, was leaving she gave everyone a hug and promised to return. In December, Mrs. Ray will be in Las Vegas for a book signing and looks forward to dining at OriginIndia.

Stomp Out Loud at Planet Hollywood Hotel Casino in Las Vegas continues to be one of the more invigorating shows on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Shows Reviews blog recently noted

There are two segments during the show that stand out and are a true testament to the genius of the show’s creators. The first segment involves cast members each taking various lengths of rubber pipes and beating them on the stage to create an alluring sound like no other. As you sit in your seat the melody slowly creeps inside you and then leaves you wondering if the notes you just heard actually came from rubber pipes. The other segment uses different-sized boxes filled with a mixture of dried beans and ping-pong balls. The boxes are thrown and pushed around the stage in a beautifully choreographed dance that must have taken an eternity to rehearse.

The cool thing is that the experience starts at the entrance to the theatre. All kinds of city stuff explodes at you. Fences, signs, hubcabs and more set the experience.

In addition, the most random objects such as keys, lighters, trash cans and lids, brooms, sand, plastic bags and kitchen sinks. To name a few. This show starts with one single cast member sweeping the stage, and erupts into a massive activity that you won't believe!

This is one show with the excitement that Las Vegas deserves also capturing the urban vibe of a New York City Show. You can read the complete review at:

You can't pump significant money into the Strip's longest-running show because the casino is widely acknowledged to be on borrowed time after a bidding war for owner Aztar Corp. Either an implosion or a significant remodeling could drop the curtain on the classic showgirl revue that has been around since 1959. But you can't just let it go either. Customers can sense when a show has been allowed to slide into stagnation. Note last Saturday's closing of the 21-year-old "Splash, which offered too little too late with a sketchy overhaul last year. So what do you do?

What you do is simply go see this show. A little bit classic Las Vegas, sexy topless production numbers with beautiful Las Vegas showgirls, and a reasonable price in a day that $100-plus tickets are the norm make this a fun time. And one that might not be around much longer.

When you think of Las Vegas entertainment, what do you think of? Lasers and tigers? No. You think of showgirls. They are in our movies, commercials, and surround the winners here whether it be a golf tournament, NASCAR race, or big jackpot winner. Folies Bergere has been presenting some of the best before James Bond or Elvis became synonymous with Las Vegas.

Folies is a true celebration of the showgirls and dance throughout the ages with a stunning display of fantasy and light. Opening scenes highlight the entire cast in song and dance with bits of real feathers flying around in the air.
