Yes we have been really busy here creating our brand new catalogue. It is packed full of goodies to delight and inspire. We have included everything to make the home a warm and wonderfully inviting place. All of our products are made from metal sources, the majority being cast iron and many hand finished, to create sustainable, beautiful, decorative pieces. We are understandably excited with the finished product which is available to order online or downloadable from our website. Our entire 'Kitchen Maid' clothes airer range has been included along with many other ceiling pot racks and shelving options.We have also created pages of home solutions for the renovation project and still found space for exciting innovative gift ideas. Well we were extremely busy last year! One of our highlights was the launch of our re designed Classic Kitchen Maid, an authentic Victorian airer which has superb detail and style and is the only one of it's kind on the market. It comes in two style choices deluxe, with cast iron wheels in the pulleys and an extra long 15 meter rope or the standard wheels in the pulley's and a 10 meter rope. This is the only airer we know of where so much choice and style is offered to the customer. Something Eggy For Easter

Easter is nearly upon us and spring has definately sprung with the clocks going back last weekend. Its great for spring cleaning and really sprucing everything thing up ready to sit back relax and admire all your efforts in the summer. We've been busy garden wise at home as our organic vegetable plot gets underway. We haven't got the hens yet so rely on the local farm shop to provide us with the freshest eggs to display in our great egg stand. Here at cast in style we have a variety to choose from, with the wall mounted egg rack or the basket as well, which is great for collecting eggs straight from the hen house and storing in the kitchen. Our 15% offer will be over by Easter but many of you are taking advantage before it ends this week. Don't worry if you missed out as April begins a new Cast a Smile promotion. Spring is in the air and we have all been very busy here at Cast in Style looking for lots of new lovely giftware to adorn your homes and give as gifts to your loved ones, look out for many of our new lines which begin in April.

Shrove Tuesday

Our collection of cast iron cookware, skillets and griddles are already pre-seasoned and ready to use. Just like Grandma's black iron cookware they continue to get better and more non stick the more they are used. So what is the best way to care for your cast iron cookware so that you can make great pancakes on shrove Tuesday? First of all before the pan is used for the first time, rinse well with hot tap water and dry thoroughly. When cooking with oils or fats (which is normally the case with frying pans, grill pans and casseroles) the surface of each item is being seasoned naturally during the cooking process. In fact the more the product is used the better it becomes. If the cookware is being used for water cooking e.g pasta or potatoes add several drops of vegetable or olive oil to the cooking water. This will automatically maintain the natural black appearance of the pan. Cast iron is very effective at distributing an even heat all over, for this reason oven gloves or a rubber handle need to be used when lifting a hot pan. It's a good idea to pre-heat the pan before adding food. Because cast iron distributes heat evenly and quickly it allows you to use lower temperatures, which will help the environment and your fuel bills, don't worry if you need a high heat however as cast iron is great with very high temperatures and can take high heat, with no worries of cracking, peeling or crazing. They can be used on all types of cooking tops including induction tops too! (care must be taken with ceramic tops). So there you have it get cooking and making those delicious pancakes!

Pay it Forward
Cast in Style have decided to begin their own version of Pay it Forward. We were inspired some time ago by the film Pay it Forward and have now come up with our own contribution. How are Cast in Style going to go about this? Firstly we are going to simply start the process by giving each of our customers a free gift with all orders placed in August. After that it is up to the customer to keep the ball (or Cast with a Smile) rolling. We have always believed in the kindness in human nature and our ability to affect everyone by our actions. We believe in very small ways we can create big changes, just by the knowledge of what we do today affects all our tomorrows. To Pay it Forward simply means if you receive a gift with your order it will have tied to it a Cast with a Smile Tag, with a smiley face and the message you've been tagged by Cast in Style, please pay it forward. Then the choice is yours, you can either keep the gift and pay forward a gift of your own to someone else, OR , pass on the gift asking the recipient to do the same pass it on or pass on a gift of their own to someone else. Keep Up The Good Work

Although cooking with cast iron is recommended for camp fires and camping, were sure in this case the pair of you have enough to carry. Cast iron might be great for camp cooking but maybe not for the backpackers eh? So we know you'll be looking for some of Mum and Dad's good home cooking when you return and have had your fill of protien bars. So we've put together some griddle recipes to temp your taste buds, cooked on the griddle to add a bit of extra iron to your food and give you some of your strength back.http://www.castinstyle.co.uk/product.php/378/13/
Rump Steak Cooked in The Griddle Pan

Ingredients
1 rump steak, salt and freshly ground black pepper, 3 tbsp Greek-style yoghurt, 55g/2oz cheddar cheese, grated, plus extra for sprinkling, 3 tortillas, handful of coriander, chopped ½ red pepper lime wedges, for garnish. For the sour cream1 lime, juice only85g/3oz Greek-style yoghurt, salt and freshly ground black pepper, handful of chives, chopped.
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. Preheat an oiled griddle pan until it is very hot.
2. Season the steak with salt and pepper and grill for two minutes on each side until the steak is medium rare.
3. Leave to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing diagonally into strips.
4. While the griddle pan is still hot, grill the red pepper for 6-8 minutes. Slice into strips.
5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yoghurt and cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Place tablespoon of chopped coriander in the centre of a tortilla.
7. Arrange a few strips of beef and grilled red pepper over the coriander.
8. Dollop with a spoonful of cheese mixture. Roll up the tortilla to wrap the filling.
9. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
10. Drizzle the tortilla wraps with a little oil and griddle for 1-2 minutes on each side.
11. Sprinkle with some grated cheese and place the griddle pan into the oven for 3-4 minutes to warm through.
12. Make the sour cream by combining the lime juice, Greek-style yoghurt, salt and pepper.
13. Serve with the warm tortillas and lime wedges. Garnish with chopped chives.

The Heat Is Off

Things at cast in style have been pretty hot this week as we're sure is the same for most people in the U.K. Is it global warming that's responsible? and if so it begs us all to do our bit for the environment in any way we can. If we're not already contributing to our wonderful planet and taking care of it, then maybe the heat will allow us to reflect a little on how much we rely on the balance being maintained. How are we helping? Here at cast in style we use wood from sustainable sources in our clothes airers, research ways to help the environment and pass on a traditional hard to find product, which means people are encouraged little by little to become a bit more environmentally friendly. For every airer we sell someone is able to use natural heat to dry a whole load of washing overnight. We love our planet and wish you all a day in which you may keep clean and cool.

The Sun Maid Airer

The Sun is still here, an ideal time to use your sun maid on your patio or balcony, if you have one.
We love this neat effective way of drying clothes indoors or out.
Great for balconies in those warm sunny climes, if your fortunate enough to own a holiday home as well.
It can also be used for hanging other decorative items like hanging plants or wind chimes. The lathes are very light in weight but strong enough to accomodate wet jeans. Each lath can be used individually or all together making a lovely fan shape out from the wall it's affixed to . The shape is just like the suns rays, hence the name the sun maid.
